They are raised up a bit which makes it easier to keep your fingers centered. The mouse is Perfect - it’s Logitech! Smooth scrolling. No hesitation. Worth every penny!

The only complaint that I have is the scroll wheel feels rough when you scroll. I have other higher end Logitech keyboards, and they feel much smoother.
