The solution turned out to be a new keyboard, and I selected the Logitech MK 470, mainly based on price and color. I love the spacing and height of the keys. In fact, I like this keyboard much more than the original one that came with my PC!

Will save as a travel keyboard. And mouse too small and sensitive. Wish it had caps lock indicator. But, functions flawlessly. No issues with connectivity or speed.
