In order to get the keys to respond I have to pick up the keyboard and place into my lap. Once it’s awake and responding, it’s fantastic

This keyboard and mouse combo is cheap, both in price and quality. The keyboard may not have been that bad, but the mouse was definitely an issue. The problem was the scaling. It has a very out-of-whack sensor that kept going diagonal when trying to move it up and down and sideways. It was inaccurate and required too much correcting.

If that doesn't fix the issue, then fortunately there is a 1 year limited hardware warranty with the MK540. I constantly turn it on/off, have even changed the batteries. This is simply annoying working from home. No one wants to have to open their laptop and use that keyboard which is why this was purchased in the first place. In addition, the mouse acts up as well. It doesn't know if wants to work on the mouse pad or the desk. Seek other options!

I have no problems with the mouse. They keyboard has great placement and every control you could need, but the key travel and feel is very mushy, causing me to not be sure whether I properly hit a key. I am a fast typer, so this caused many keys to not be registered due to needing a harder press than typical. I think there is just too much travel and too much of a mushy feel to like this keyboard.

The mouse is decent for office use and maintains a strong connection to the USB dongle for wireless. The keyboard is pitiful. It is nice that it has a palm rest with the size. But the wireless is absolutely pathetic. The keyboard constantly loses connection at approximately 3ft from the USB dongle. When it is connected, data is lost in the wireless resulting in key errors.
