The solution: go to Best Buy find knowledgeable associate describe issue. Associate recommends Logitech M310 Wireless Mouse. The result: mouse works likes a dreams, many positive family comments. This is the second one I've owned. I bought one of the Amazon cheapies in between and the scroll wheel didn't work (would scroll up when trying to scroll down). A mouse working as it should isn't something you should have to worry about.
