The gem Mac and iPad users didn't know they needed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After recently starting work from home, I found my Apple-branded Magic Keyboard that came with my iMac to be inadequate for long-term usage. The main issue is my fingers would be in throbbing pain from the sharp edges of the keys which you're bound to hit repeatedly as you type in a customer service/chat environment. Enter the Logitech MX Keys S for Mac. The first thing I noticed about this keyboard is the heft. It's got a premium feel and build quality to it. The keys, while square, have circular enclaves, which Logitech calls "spherically-dished keys" and I'm happy to report after weeks of typing on them, they are SUPER comfortable and the travel and action are on point. Beyond that, the keys are also backlit and there are sensors that detect when your hands are near the keyboard to control this functionality to preserve battery. Speaking of battery, the keyboard charges over USB-C and Logitech estimates 10 days of usage per charge with back-lighting enabled and I've yet to have to charge in almost that amount of time. Useful shortcuts are located across the F-row of keys and include: screen brightness decrease; screen brightness increase; keyboard brightness decrease; keyboard brightness increase; diction start & stop; emoji menu; mute/un-mute Mic; playback controls (rewind, play/pause & fast forward); audio controls (mute, volume down & volume up). There are also shortcuts for connecting multiple devices which Logitech calls Easy Switch. Considering most Mac users also own an iPhone and/or an iPad, this makes it easy to pair your keyboard to these devices and switch back and forward by tapping the corresponding paired number setting (you can pair up to 3). So for instance, if I have my iPad next to my iMac, I can type on my iMac by pressing "1" on the Easy Switch keyboard and if I want to switch to my iPad, I can press "2" and after a second or two I'm ready to type on my iPad - and you can switch back and forward. Additionally there are also quick action keys to launch the calculator, take a screen snip and to lock the screen if you're walking away from your device. You can also automate repetitive tasks with Smart Options which lets you launch a sequence of actions with a two-key shortcut - i.e. if I press control + a then minimize my Safari window and launch Apple Music. I didn't try this out as it seems like in the amount of time it would take to program and remember these, options I'm proficient enough where it's quicker for me to just do what I need to do - sans keyboard options. My only two improvements: I do wish you could raise the height of the keyboard (a steeper incline), but the height is fixed. I also wish there was a native keyboard shortcut for the Mission Control view (I would get more usage out of this than say Emojis) in macOS and/or the Stage Manager view on iPad (could be the same key) and one for showing the desktop (could be useful on Mac and iPad as well). Technically if you download the LOGI Options+ app, you can customize the F-row keys of shortcuts so this is a more minor quirk.

Near perfect keyboard for easy personal/office use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The MX Keys line from Logitech is one of my favorite product lines in computer accessories. The new MX Keys S is a great addition to the line that matches Space Gray Macs and uses the Logi Bolt receiver which is more secure than the previous Unifying receivers. #First Impressions and Look and Feel# The MX Keys S fits within the MX Keys line above the Mini and below the Mechanical versions. This is a dedicated keyboard for Mac without labeling for Windows layout on its keys. I was a little bummed that the MX Keys S doesn't include the leatherette wrist pad that the old MX Keys keyboard came with. One thing I noted immediately is that this is a very heavy keyboard vs the MX Keys Mini that I've been using for a few years. The full size MX Keys S has additional heft that isn't directly explained by the full numberpad included vs my old Mini. The keyboard is still exceptionally thin as well as just wide enough for the full size keyboard, thus fits in a backpack pretty well. The MX Keys S has fantastic backlighting that turns on as soon as you touch any part of the keyboard. This allows it to turn off quickly to save battery life but still turn back on quickly enough to be able to see as you place your hands on the keys. The timeout is customizable in the Logi Options+ app. #Usage# The typing experience on the MX Keys S is about as good as you can get on a scissor membrane keyboard. The keys are smooth and responsive with a small tactile bump just as you bottom out. The keyboard is very quiet and perfect for use in a crowded office environment. The Logi Options+ software allows you to easily pair it to a Logi Bolt receiver and you can switch between up to 3 computers/tablets/iPads with easy buttons near the right end of the keyboard. Logi Options+ lets you set layouts to match Windows or Mac as well as customize the backlight settings and update firmware. #Final thoughts# The MX Keys S is a great keyboard to pair with a Space Gray Mac and is easy to switch between multiple devices. I love using it with my work computer and then being able to tap a single key to switch and connect via Bluetooth to an iPad or personal Mac.

Best Apple keyboard I’ve ever used.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am reviewing this mostly for my use case: I’m a writer and I am at the keyboard typing all day long. I often am typing while I’m on the phone (transcribing my conversations) and I need a keyboard that is silent enough that I can hear the caller and the caller can hear me. So: This is quite simply the best keyboard I’ve ever used on my Mac. I have been using the full-size Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, and this keyboard is far superior. Why? - Much more comfortable, fast, and accurate typing. The little detents on the MX make a huge difference, as does the slight increase in key travel. This keyboard just feels better, and I make fewer errors with it. - Aesthetically, it matches nicely with the space gray Magic Trackpad. It looks like it belongs. - It is very quiet when typing, especially compared to a mechanical keyboard. I get that a lot of people love their mechanicals and that for some - or even many - their typing experience is improved with such a product. But for me, the smooth and easy key press force of the MX is far superior to the heavy, loud experience I’ve had with mechanicals like Das Keyboard. - Nice features include the few extra function keys and the multi-device capability. But for me, the bottom line for a keyboard is speed, accuracy, and quiet. This keyboard hits them all. Missing is Touch ID. This is somewhat annoying. Yes, I can log in with my Apple Watch, but especially as Apple goes down the road toward more permissions being required, I don’t love having to type in my password repeatedly. And changing my password to something easier to type - like four digits - seems too much of a security breach. But I buy keyboards for their primary job - typed input - and not for login shortcuts. The many pros of the MX far outweigh this single negative.

Great addition to my logitech office ecosystem!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent KEYBOARD!!! Better than any Apple keyboard with more functionality at cheaper the cost!!! This is the keyboard that Apple should have brought out for their Macs. It has many nice features. The one that I find really nice is the key back lighting. It's quite handy under lower light conditions. My previous Logitech products have lasted many years, which makes this keyboard purchase a worthy investment considering the quality and features. Right out of the box I was amazed at the solid workmanship. This thing feels sturdy and heavy. It has a classy dark metal gray finish. It's curved edges and slight tilt, along with the silent keys make it a pleasure to use. The lights go out if your hands are away from the keyboard for long, but respond immediately to your fingers touching the keys with lighting up. The construction seems very good, and the keys with their sculptured tops are nice to type on. The programable key functions are also handy for adding some user defined command to certain keys. Overall and nice keyboard I've been using this keyboard for a couple days now and I love it. It has a nice heavy/solid feel, so it doesn't slip around on my desk and the keys have a nice tactile "break" at the end of the keystroke. Very easy to use for hours at a time. The only thing missing from this is the numeric keypad but that's why it's called "mini" in the first place. I have no complains about that but something to consider if you are a big time numeric keypad user. It also doesn't come with the Logitech unifying receiver and is not supported to work with one. If you are planning to use it with the unifying receiver, you better get the full fledged MX Masters keyboard which works with the unifying receiver. I have the MX Master 2S mouse but have to use this keyboard via bluetooth. Not a big deal since my previous keyboard (also Logitech) was also connected via bluetooth. Never had any issues with that. It has a rechargeable batter that charges up via the included USB-C to USB-A cable; you'll need a USB-A type power adapter which is not included. I only had to charge it once and plugged it into my laptop. Logitech claims a battery life of up to 10 days on a full charge or up to 5 months with the backlighting turned off, which is way less than my MX Master 2S mouse but that is understandable as the keyboard draws more power than the mouse. This Logitech keyboard is just much much better than all of the keyboards I've used so far. Some of it is the small form factor that leaves more space on my desk. Some of it is the super sleek look that makes my desk look like I'm an elite designer. But more than anything, it's how smoothly the keys actuate, how they travel just enough (not too little, not too far), and how the concave circle shape on each key is built to welcome your fingers. This keyboard is not without faults, but these faults pale in comparison with how good the keys are.

Posted .Hello Fink,
I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble using the MX Keys Mini properly. The MX Keys Mini is not a gaming keyboard, which is why it has features that are counterproductive for gaming, such as the battery-saving mode that shuts off the keyboard. Try downloading the Logitech Options+ app from the Logitech website so you can adjust the sleep time intervals. Ideally, I suggest you get one of Logitech's gaming keyboards that has many more features for gaming purposes. Logitech appreciates your product review. - Leo from Logitech

Great mini keyboard with solid features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Logitech MX Keys Mini is a small focused cross platform, multi-device keyboard. It combines a layout that many Mac users will find familiar, but also in a world of increasing mobile device usage, is more familiar for everyone. Paying homage to the Craft keyboard, for which it shares many features, it includes smart backlighting, 3 device connections, and multi-OS support. While it shares many features with the Craft, this is by far a budget keyboard. That isn’t to say it’s cheap quality, but it doesn’t have the same aluminum construction, touch sensitive dial, or full layout. Instead you find a fairly competent chassis with minimal flex and just the core keys. The layout includes relevant function keys including device switching, keyboard backlight, dictation, emoji, screenshots, and audio controls. The bottom row sports dual function keys that are detected by the OS, mapping Windows as the third key in, followed by an ALT and swapping them respectively for CMD and OPT. So Mac users rejoice, you can use a proper layout without remapping. This is especially important if you augment your primary Windows setup with an iPad, as it keeps consistency when swapping devices. The rest of the keys fill QWERTY up, and are uniquely divoted to holding your fingers. Despite being a keyboard fanatic (with multiple switch types, and preferences in my collection), I found the scissor switch to be instantly familiar. I was impressed that I could hit my average of around 80 WPM the first try with minimal typing beforehand. Many keyboard have had an adjustment period, but obviously Logitech is sticking with a tried and true design, bringing lessons learned on the Craft keyboard. The backlighting using proximity sensors is pretty g-whiz, but also a wonderful feature for a wireless keyboard. Beyond the keys, there is a single USB-C port for charging, along with a power switch. On the underside of the keyboard, large friction rubber feet keep the keyboard in place. There is a distinct lack of LEDs on this keyboard, including an indicator for function lock. It’s easy enough to turn on and off, but knowing what state it is currently locked is something only experimentation can show. There are LEDs for each bluetooth connection on F1-F3. This keyboard can support up to 3 pairings and swap between them at the touch of a button (or Flow enabled mice). Something to note: this keyboard out of the box requires bluetooth. While you can use Logitech’s Logi Bolt receivers, they are brand new and the only receivers compatible with this keyboard. Logitech is really pushing Flow enabled mice - which allow this keyboard to follow a mouse that moves from computer to computer automatically. While I didn’t have an MX Anywhere Flow enabled mouse to test this with, this is a really great idea to bring native to your devices. While others have had software solutions for years, seeing Logitech go the extra mile to make it a first class citizen is pretty awesome. Logitech rates the battery life at 10h and up to 5 months with the backlight off. If you work in a bright office environment this might be perfect for you. Otherwise you’ll find yourself charging the keyboard every day. That said, it could easily be part of your routine. Overall, why would you choose this over the similarly priced MX Keys? That’s a good question. If you’re used to this layout, by either using an ultrabook, or Mac as your primary keyboard, then this will feel quite familiar. If you’re a coder or programmer, you may miss the lack of dedicated Home/End keys (although, FN+arrows serve home/end on the Mini). I’m a little disappointed there is no USB receiver out of the box, but bluetooth has become pretty prolific. Overall, this keyboard brings excellent core features, solid layout, and a solid bluetooth connection. It types better than similar first party accessories from fruit based companies, while also adding some great multi-device features.

Excellent Build quality and Battery Life.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do remote work as a Tier 2 Support technician for a very large Financial institution and it had recently befallen to me the turn to support our limited MacOS users. I've worked previously on Mac before but really only had very limited knowledge. This Keyboard came along at an excellent time since I had recently taken position of one of our companies later M2 Pro MacBook Pro's. I had up until getting this keyboard been using a mechanical Wireless Windows based keyboard and even with adjusting the controls within the System Preferences it was still a challenge to use. Getting this keyboard has been nothing short of delightful. It's response, very easy to type on as I do a lot of typing between Incident notes, Chats and Knowledge articles. It's very well built. The weight of it is surprising. This is by no means a light keyboard and I've used and own plenty, wired and wireless and this one takes the cake, and feels like it ate it too lol. It definitely feels like a quality keyboard, not something cheap that may fall apart or stop working after a month. It required very little effort to setup, no software download needed. I powered it on, and my MacBook recognized it and paired after entering a 6 digit pin. Battery life is incredible. I've only charged it once. It had quite a bit of charge right out of the box. I decided to let it fully charge overnight. It's been probably 5 or so days and it likely has at least a week, if not more of a work week left. I know I'll be using it for as long as I have possession of my MacBook as it's been absolutely brilliant to work with. If you want something built to last but don't want to break the bank and something that's simple to setup and use for your Mac, this definitely should be of your consideration.

Perfect Mac Keyboard
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've really enjoyed the Logitech MX series products. They provide some of the most well built and feature rich computer accessories on the market and this new keyboard is no exception. It offers great features, great build quality and works great on a Mac, so it checks all the boxes I could want. The most important aspect of a keyboard is how well does it type? Here the MX Keys does a pretty good job. It uses scissor switches so you get some level of clickiness. Nowhere near a mechanic keyboard, but the key travel feels nice and the tactile feel of the clicks are good. The keys themselves do have an odd concave shape which did take a little getting used to, but once you get past the weird feel it is really easy to type on. The layout itself is just like any other full size keyboard with a full set of function keys and number pad that all work great. Overall this is a really well done typing experience. Feature wise I love this keyboard. My biggest struggle with bluetooth keyboards is how hard it is to switch between computers. With the MX keys you have dedicated buttons to switch between up to 3 bluetooth connections. This is a game changer to me since I don't have to go through any goofy bluetooth paring when I switch between work and personal computers. Again here, paired with the MX mouse that can do the same thing, this is my go to keyboard. The only thing I found annoying was that the keyboard doesn't work when logging into my macbook. I think this is some security feature with macbooks but it is one drawback. Overall, this is a great keyboard. It's well built, types well, has great battery life and has some really cool features to set it apart.

Outstanding Keyboard That Is Ultra Useful
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As usual, Logitech has hit another home run with this MX Keys S wireless keyboard for Macs. This is my third keyboard in this class from Logitech I’ve owned and used and each one has not disappointed me in any way. First off the build quality of the keyboard is second to none. Once you pick it up it feels really solid in your hands. Sure, it’s made of plastic but just about every keyboard made today is. The difference comes from how it’s built and feels to use. There is no flex when handling it and once sitting on your desk or table top (or lap) it doesn’t wobble or seem to shift around. Key travel is as close to prefect feeing as it gets. The built in backlighting is impressive and gets more than bright enough for use making this easy to use in darker environments. The fact that you can have is set to connect to three different devices is rather handy if you’re like me and have a multi Apple device home. This connects to my MacBook, my iPad, and my iPhone it no issues. In fact I’m using it to write this review and I love it. It charges by USB-C and has outstanding battery life. There are extra function keys above the number pad that brings up the calculator, screen capture, Spotlight search, put the device it’s connected to sleep, There are three numbered keys on the function key row where you select device to connect to. Overall Logitech has done an outstanding job of putting a lot of thought in how people typically use a keyboard and implement the design in such a way to make it extra useful.

Comfortable and Slim
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Take the MX Keys keyboard and chop off the right side after the "Enter" key. If you don't need a numeric keypad and the extra Insert/Home/End/PgUp/PgDn keys, then this keyboard may suit you. It's very low and thin, raised up a bit in the back. It's also not a feather light keyboard - it has a little weight to it. This thing feels sturdy. But really, the most important thing is that it just feels great to type on. The keys are well-sized and responsive, nothing is weirdly placed, and the backlighting works great. The keyboard has the added benefit of storing connections to 3 devices, just like its bigger sibling - and I've had no problems connecting it to Mac, Windows and Android laptops and tablets.
