Nice ergo mouse - until the left button fails

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This was a purchase for a ergonomic improvement - a large mouse with an angled grip to reduce wrist and hand pain from repetitive use of twisted forearm required to manipulate a traditional "flat" mouse. The software installed for managing the mouse never seemed to notify me when my battery needed charging, so I'd sometimes find it dead. I liked that it could be paired to multiple computers and switched for which one, so I used Bluetooth for my Mac and the USB dongle for connecting wirelessly to my Windows workstation that doesn't have Bluetooth. Unfortunately, like many users, I found the left mouse button started to fail after about 18 months... the button fails to register a press or click, or when holding and dragging you get a click but the mouse releases the click prematurely. The ratings at BestBuy are good, but do some searching for MX Master 3S button failure and you will find many stories. There are some youtube videos about replacing the defective switch. I think I'll just be searching for an ergonomic replacement from another manufacturer.

Very comfortable to use. My only complaint is the device switcher being on the bottom. I we wish it was located on the top somewhere, so I didn't have to lift and flip over the mouse.

I use them with Applescript on my Mac to trigger custom programs on the TV app, scrolling one letter up/down on the playlist or switching between video & library view.

From Unifying to Bolt

It's an incremental improvement. I don't do precision mouse work so much of the improvement is lost on me. Still, much like the Master 3 it's a great mouse. You'll notice a bigger difference between the 2S and 3S, not least going from microUSB charging to USB-C. Being able to easily switch between multiple computers is useful for me and works very well. If you're looking to replace the cheap wired mouse that came with your computer the 3S is a no brainer.
