Customers regard the Orion Spectrum G910 keyboard highly, praising its build quality, RGB backlighting, and satisfying key feel. Many appreciate the ease of use and extensive customization options, along with the positive comments on the software and lighting effects. However, some users express dissatisfaction with the wrist rest, finding it uncomfortable or poorly designed. The lack of a USB passthrough is another frequently cited drawback.

A beautiful keyboard for typists and gamers

First off, let me preface this review by stating that I've flip-flopped around between switch types for some time now. I started off with blues, then migrated to browns, and now have ended up in the proprietary Romer-G territory. Out of all of these, Romer-Gs definitely are my favorites. They are quiet enough to not disturb others while maintaining enough of the clickiness one comes to expect from a mechanical keyboard. They are comfortable to type on and great to game with in equal measure. The G910 Spectrum is also a phenomenal keyboard. While the original version, the Spark, was a bit too flashy for my tastes, with the asymmetrical wrist wrest and odd keycaps, Logitech did an awesome job listening to feedback from their customers and releasing a refreshed version. The Spectrum has typical cylindrical keycaps included no extra charge. Even the WASD, arrow, and G-keys have cylindricals, simply with a futuristic design on them to appeal to gamers. Although the keyboard is made of plastic, it has plenty of heft to it and feels high quality. It matches perfectly with a G502 Spectrum mouse. The LEDs are nice and bright without being overwhelming. They default to a pleasant "color wave" in the absence of a custom color profile. For me, I am currently stuck with a work laptop that I do not have administrator rights to, so I can't install the software required to control the colors. Even so, the wave is a decent enough holdover until I can get my new personal computer up and running. I can't give this keyboard fractions of a star. If I could, I would give it a 4.75 instead of a 5. This is because I'm coming from a G710+ which had a couple of features that I would have loved on the G910. For one, there is no longer a USB passthrough. For some users this is a good thing, as it means that the keyboard only has a single USB plug. However, I am a stickler for cable management, and the fact that I can't tuck my mouse cord under the keyboard to hide it from sight bothers me. In addition, there are only two brightness settings: On and off. The G710+ had four, if I'm remembering correctly, and you were able to independently control the brightness of the "gaming" keys and the "typing keys", i.e. the WASD/arrow/G keys and all others. Finally, the cord is just a regular glossy cord, not braided like the G502's is. It would have been nice if they had included that because I like it. All in all though, my cons are more of just preferences. For most, they will not affect your enjoyment of the keyboard in the slightest. To be honest, they're not affecting mine at all. This is an awesome keyboard and I can't wait to get more use out of it!

Don’t buy this item I bought brand new, it came with 5 sticky buttons, not to mention when I downloaded the app on my computer (it’s only to customize your buttons and the colors) it started to bug out while I was gaming. For the price never have I ever purchased a worse keyboard for gaming.

Keyboard are severely overpriced. They are mechanical but still suffer from input lag when gaming. This is because logictech software is busy tracking your online stuff instead of doing its freaking job! If you suffer from input lag while gaming, simply uninstall the crap logitech software and you'll see how more responsive it is when gaming.

I have purchased 2 of these. They work for about a year and a half. Then, they just stop working correctly. Keys stop working or register multiple times. Back to Cherry MX for me.

This keyboard is not worth the price. The wrist pad is almost useless, very uncomfortable when typing for a few minutes. I returned this keyboard and purchased the Razer Huntsman Elite, a much better quality and very nice leather wrist pad!!

    Solid Overall Keyboard

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Pros: Many macro keys, a disable windows key, volume control wheel, solid build quality, nice RGB lighting. Cons: No braided cable, no USB pass-through, plastic build (could have been aluminum at this price point), ARX dock kinda useless. At $180, there are features not present that should be standard, such as USB pass-through and at least a braided cable. The RBG lighting is not like other keyboards. Romer-G switches have the LED's built directly into the switch. This means that you won't see any lighting outlining the keys or bleeding out from the sides. This, in turn, makes the keys themselves more illuminated even during the day. I personally prefer this type of lighting, but you might not. Overall, this keyboard is a solid option if you like Romer-G switches. If you're reading reviews are wondering if this keyboard will feel good for you, then I advise you to go into a store and try them out. I went through 5 keyboards before I settled on this one. You might like other types of switches. Is this keyboard worth $180 though? Probably not. But if this keyboard goes on sale for $120 or less, then it's a very good buy. At this time of writing, it is on sale for $90. At that price point, this keyboard is a must-buy.

Keys repeat almost all the time. While it is tactile, the fact that the keys repeat almost at will makes it very hard to use. Seems to be getting worse as time goes by.

Hi, Kosi, Very sorry to hear about the issue you're having with the G910 Orion Spectrum Gaming keyboard and the keys repeating. It could be a mechanical defect, but very may well be firmware update. Download Logitech's Gaming Software which can also be used to customize the settings on the G910. GREAT KB

I had been using the Logitech G710 keyboard for almost 5 years until I spilled half a glass of ice water on it ! It never recovered. But I did and upgraded to this G910 with fancy changing lights. I programmed the lowest ' G Key ' on the left side to be a Left Mouse Click, other keys were BACK, and 2 different Email addresses I used often. I'm an Old Geek, it hurts to click the mouse buttons for as long as I'm on the computer, I'm not a gamer either. I love the weight of this KB, the RGB colors, the keys, and I no longer keep any liquids on my desk.

Hi, we're sorry to see you were misinformed and unsatisfied with your G910 Gaming keyboard. While it is primarily for gaming purposes, you can also use it for work related activities as well. You can even program the G keys to do shortcut tasks like enter in password information, open up frequently used programs, etc. But if it still isn't for you, please feel free to contact your local Best Best to see how they can assist in a return or exchange. Hope that helps!

Great KB, unless you use the blue LEDs

    Posted .

I purchased the first G910 in Feb 2016 and loved everything about the keyboard. The keys were smooth, the response time was great, and the software to control everything also worked with my G930 headset. I was able to completely set up the keyboard with custom lighting with different colors on different keys to help identify in the dark at a quick glance and all was good. 5 Months later the blue LEDs started failing for multiple keys. At the time of RMA for the issue there were 3 keys where the blue LED had died completely and 1-2 more where the blue LED was beginning to fail. I was impressed at the service provided by Logitech to RMA the keyboard and was able to have it replaced very quickly. 1 year after RMA there are already 3 keys with a dead blue LED. One major issue with the design is that the LED are part of the main board so replacing a single key is not an option. If any LED die the entire keyboard would need to be replaced. I had hoped for a $150 keyboard that the back-lighting would last more than 5-12 months. Overall, the keyboard is great with the only real issue being how quickly the blue LED dies on multiple keys. Until the quality issue is fixed I would not recommend this keyboard to anyone.

This keyboard previously had deep wells in the keys which were great for keeping the fingers resting on each key if you have big fingers. Be mindful that the design is now flatter and doesn't serve the same function. So sad.

Great Keyboard - Revisions do it Justice

So i basically lucked out as I was in the market for the G910 Spark. I ordered from Bestbuy due to the sale being lower than competitors. Upon receiving it, I noticed the key caps were normal looking and the wrist rest was normal and smaller. Lucky as I am the Spectrum is the same as the G910 Spark except they fixed the 2 worst problems on the G910 Spark (wrist rest and keycap shape). I was planning on buying the G910 Spark and buying the replacement keys from Logitech. Coming from a G710 with the Cherry Browns and previously having Blues prior to that(way too noisy), the noise level is close to browns on the small keys. Just a tad bit louder. My only minor complaint is the large keys (space/shift/enter etc) have a bit of a hollow sound that resonates more than my G710 same keys did. Maybe the rubber bushing under the g710 did a bit to cancel out that sound, but overall it is not too overwhelming. I never noticed my Blues having the same issue even though they do. Because the Blues were so noisy to me, i never noticed that the larger keys make louder sounds. The keys feel pretty similar to browns to me. My fingers don't notice to much of a difference in actuation distance and with the normal keycaps, it feels similar to my G710. Just a tad bit louder maybe, but also a bit lighter. The Lighting effects are very very nice. The light bleeding vs Cherrys is night and day and the keys can get bright. Lighting effects are also very nice and work well with my other Logitech Software.
