Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Performance Mouse MX's long battery life, comfortable ergonomics, and ease of use. Many appreciate its ability to work on various surfaces and its accurate tracking. While some find the price a bit high and the scroll wheel could be improved, the overall user experience is positive. The mouse's weight is also a point of contention for some users.

    Not their best mouse

Had great luck with Logitech over the years, so I didn't struggle too long to pay $70 for a mouse. I have the same complaints as many here. The rechargeable battery is a good idea, but only lasts a day or so. I would rather add a new alkaline battery every 6 months, like previous designs. The scroll wheel is overly sensitive and turns too freely. I have lots of problems with the left and right mouse button. I would like to it respond to a light click, but find myself having to click again and with much more force than I should have to. Overall, I think I will replace it with another mouse soon, as I find it annoying and poorly designed.

    Great mouse

bought this mouse with a Logitech illuminated keyboard. Both have the same USB unifying device. This USB unifying device is tiny. Be sure to put it in a USB port that has plenty of finger room around it so that you can easily remove it if necessary. Software recognizes both -- used to customize both devices. The mouse has an off switch on the bottom that helps to increase battery life. This is a large mouse. Some may have to adjust to the change in size. I think I had some wrist soreness for a day or two, but then I used it heavily right out of the box. And the soreness went away. And I'm not absolutely sure that the soreness was associated with the new mouse. So far I am very satisfied with this mouse.

    Great

I have to get use to it, because i was use to using a laptop lzr mouse for my desktop, it was alittle big and clunky at first, but now ive got it down. It might not be a "gaming mouse" but if you could game on a mouse ball or optical, then this works perfectly fine. Don't blame the mouse, blame the gamer! I've read about this hybernation thing, and idk what they are talking about. it works for me as soon as i move it. i recommended trying to feel it in-store because its on the big side, fits me just fine, but others may have issues. Also i like the battery notifying thing on the mouse instead of on my computer, that way i don't have to install the cd.

This is a really great mice. I use it with 2 computers hooked up via a KVM switch, It's rare to find a really good wireless mouse that actually works with one of these.

Not as good as its pre-cursor

I an the Lead CAD Designer for a Civil Engineering firm where I use this mouse, and also where I was using the per-cursor to this mouse, the MX Revolution, but after 7 years of hard use, it finally started reaching the end of its life expectancy so I replaced it with this one. Very disappointed with the new one. The battery on the Revolution would last me about 2.5 weeks, even at work, but with the new one, I am lucky to get 4 days out of the battery before I have to recharge. I realize that my job is very demanding on peripherals, but that is ridiculous. Very disappointed with the battery life! You might have better luck with a "normal" setting vs. using it for CAD.

Almost awesome, but awful middle button

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Overall this is a comfortable, functional, and well thought-out mouse. However, the middle mouse button is really not right. Unless you click it at just the right angle the click won't register. Worse for my usage needs (gaming and graphic design programs), when clicking the middle button it's very easy to accidentally trigger the mouse wheel. That can be awfully when you're gaming or working in Adobe Creative Suite. It's slick that the wheel comes with two levels of resistance, one for fast smooth scrolling, and another for the more traditional graduated scrolling with resistive clicks. However, even in the traditional mode the wheel doesn't offer enough resistance, so it was far too easy for me to trigger scrolling. If the middle button & wheel weren't so important for my uses I'd be very happy. As it is, though, I'm returning it.

    Excellent mouse

I have two of these now and found it to be the best overall mouse for comfort, features, options, and use. I have tried four other models from three manufacturers and came back to the Performance MX and bought a second one - one for home and one for work. I have not found a surface it does not work on and the mouse feels nice in your hand when using for long periods of time. The only suggestion I have is to go to Logitech.com and download the latest version of the SetPoint software for your applicable OS version. It gives you more control and customization for the mouse and its features.

It may be a bit pricey, but programable buttons on a large mouse that fits a big man's hand justify the cost! You will not regret it!

Wireless mouse you gotta plug in?

    Posted .

That just defeats the purpose if u gotta plug in a wireless mouse. I'll opt for a new $15 all black M310, the model I've been using for 3 years with no problem (my current M310 mouse is in good condition still just can't stand the puke gray color Logitech seems to be so fond of). Either that or I'll buy the Marathon 6 button M705 mouse that has a battery life of 3 years. That one's $40 but again...Logitech's puke gray color is the only option LOL

    Best mouse since MX Revolution

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I used to have an MX Revolution. It predates the unifying receiver, so when my kid broke my Revolution receiver, this was my replacement for my work CPU. I've used it for over a year, and decided to get one for the home CPU. The customized buttons and tap-button scroll control are great for browsing. I also navigate 3 CAD software packages as well as other software packages on the fly with the thumb button. A great product!

Batteries Need A Recharge Too Often

    Posted .

Best Buy Shipped this Mouse 2/29, it is now 4/10, and this is the 3rd time that I have had to recharge the batteries for the Logitech mX Performance Mouse in a little over a month. The USB cable to re-charge the mouse was included in the box and the mouse can be used while it is being charged. For the price of this mouse, I feel that the batteries should last at least one month between charges.

    Unfortunately support is non-existent

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First of all, $100 is too much for a mouse. When I started looking for a mouse, I was looking for a regular size mouse, wireless (with USB) dongle, and either BlueTrack or DarkField technology. That left me with only Logitech as Microsoft only made the mini version for travel. So I picked up this mouse. At first I thought, maybe there's something to this mouse that they can justify charging $100 for. But when I used it, I had a lot of problem. I use a Mac with Snow Leopard 10.6.2. Without the Logitech driver, the mouse perform beautifully, but I wasn't able to use the other buttons on the mouse. I installed the driver and that's when my problem started. Other people reviewed the same thing, but they reported issue with 10.5.x, so I thought I wouldn't have the problem. Sure enough, I get the problem. My business makes a lot of photo editing and collages of photos which requires me to open lots photos in my photo editing apps (Photoshop). The problem is, the mouse hangs when use the File Open dialog box and use the scroll wheel to scroll on a long list. Sometimes it would hang for a few seconds, other times, it would hang for a few minutes. Thus slow me down a lot on time of my work. Logitech support was non-existent and is a joke. I will be taking this mouse back tomorrow.

    Good mouse - bad design

    Posted .

This is a great mouse that works anywhere. I'm a big guy (6'4") and was hoping to have a mouse I could rest my whole hand on instead of dragging my palm on my desk. This is designed so the only way to comfortably rest your thumb is to kept just your fingers on it and drag your palm/wrist on the desk while the end of my fingers are 2" from the end of the mouse. Just not comfortable for me.

    Great Mouse, Except Scroll Wheel

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The scroll wheel on this device is horrible, when you stop scrolling a page the wheel will still move when you take your finger off thge wheel. It also registers a scroll when you are moving the mouse around a page to click on a hyperlink etc. I like everything else about this mouse, but this is a deal breaker for me. Chasing my webpages around the screen to click on links is not very productive.
