Cannot seem to get this working on iOS above 8.0!

Took iPad and case to Apple and stumped the Genius. However, the keypad sync'ed, linked and worked with our older iPad Air 2 running iOS 8 +/-. we're guessing a firmware issue or upgrade needed. However, Logitech support sites provided no guidance on this matter either. So, we are curious to see what happens when we upgrade the older iPad to new iOS... Does this keypad become archaic?
