All bass. Completely distorted unnatural sound.

This is a cheap set of 2.1 computer speakers, but has the worst bass sound I have ever heard for this price category. This subwoofer completely drowns out the mid and high ranges. After listening to 10 seconds of music, I knew I would return this set. For my own entertainment, I even wrapped the subwoofer in a towel, AND played with an equalizer to lower the LFE, but I still could not get it to an acceptable level. I am NOT an audiophile, but I need my speakers to sound natural. I believe it was designed for people who like loud booming bass and don't care about sound quality.

Defective Control Pod & Too Bass Heavy

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First, I feel it's only fair to tell you that I only listened to two songs through these speakers, primarily because during the second song, the control pod power light started flickering on and off, as did the sound to the speakers, and then the power to the control pod and speakers died completely. Ordinarily, I wouldn't review a defective product, but I also found the amount of bass these speakers produced to be nothing short of annoying (at a moderate volume with songs I wouldn't consider to be bass heavy). I don't know how to explain this well because a buttload of bass seems like it should be a good thing, but it's not so great if it completely drowns out everything else. Nor is it ideal if the satellite speakers make your desk vibrate, and there is no way to adjust the level of bass, and you feel like you'd be more comfortable if the speakers were a much greater distance from you. Like on the other side of the room. Or in the next county. Literally, it made my eyes feel as if they were on the verge of watering. Again, I wouldn't ordinarily review defective products, but other reviewers mentioned the bass issue as well, so it clearly wasn't part of this product's defectiveness. Mind you, I wasn't exactly happy about receiving a set of speakers that didn't work properly either, but that's neither here nor there.

I can't tell if I have a problem with the speakers or the motherboard. The computer is new and the speakers were just added. They play but they are not very loud, I have yet to determine who is at fault

    Logitech Speakers + Subwoofer

I thought the bass was going to be better. I am going to take these back and get a bigger subwoofer. I have over 300 songs and all of the need bass to sound good. I though these were going to be good for the price. I REALLY like bass and I wouldn't recomend this to anyone. I am 13 and I am in my room alot of the time, I like to have music when i do my homework or something and this stereo system just doesn't cut it for me. I like the subwoofers with the little nob on the back to adjust the bass. If you like alot of bass with your music i wouldn't recomend this to anyone.

    Not enough bass

I payed 40$ for these speakers thinking they would provide me with a decent amount of bass. Brought them home and plugged them in. Noticed a lot of wiring in the back of my computer desk making it very messy. The remote for the speaker is not very smart to have. There should be a volume button on the speakers and the subwoofer. Which brings me to the subwoofer which barely creates any bass at all and even hums. I am not happy with this product but it will have to do for now. I will return these and get the Z323 instead

I have had it for two months now and it has worked well until recently. Overall the quality is worth the price, but recently the open/close tray has been sticking unless I unplug it.

    Lasted for 12 hours

The sound from the speakers was very good while they worked. However I read many reviews before I purchased warning that these speakers would stop working within a few weeks or months. I should have paid more attention because mine quit working about 12 hours after I first hooked them up. I only used them at about 50% volume or less so I wasn't overly exerting them. Very disappointed in the quality of this product.

    Garbage

Purchased these a bit over a year ago. They always had issue with distortion and uneven balance. I think the pot for the volume wheel was not soldered correctly or there was some kind of short. Overall just cheaply made. The subwoofer sounded alright while they worked. Won't be buying Logitech speakers ever again.

    auxiliary connection stopped working

While it lasted, the speakers were fantastic, the sub had more than enough power for its size. the one day the left speaker cut out and the auxiliary connection has to be moved around to get it to work.

    Horrendous!

If you like muddy bass for which there are no controls, and dingy mids and highs, this is the set for you. Anybody who has any respect for the material, and his ears, would vomit after listening to these.. Maybe for games this is acceptable, but true gamers wont be happy either. The poor excuse for a sub so overwhelms the listening experience with distortion that my ears started bleeding after about 15 minutes.. It only took them that long to start bleeding because I was attempting to tone down the muddy distorted sub bass by using software.. But even with the bass end of the equalizer turned off, it was still unlistenable because of the muddy mids and highs... My fault for trying to cheap out.. Took it back and replaced it with the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 thx certified system... What a difference.. Holy Smokes!!

    Cheap speakers, sounds tinny

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My 10 year old subwoofer went kaput. Unfortunately, you can't just replace a subwoofer these days, they've dumbed down the systems so much that you have to buy a complete set when you want to replace yours, and can only plug in one line into the subwoofer. Anyhow, I bought these, thinking they would be okay, but they are terrible. They sound tinny in the ear, even when you adjust the equalizer to take down the treble. If I could give the sound quality zero stars, I would. You really do get what you pay for. It didn't last more than 10 minutes out of the box. I wish I could just find a decent surround sound subwoofer into which I could plug in the individual speakers.

The sound quality is distorted - end of story. I will be taking these back and upgrading. We put 1k into the PC, 300 into the monitor, why not love the sound for a 100 more... you get what I'm saying?

    Poor Sound, Construction and Quailty

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My son bought me the Z313 speaker system for Christmas an that is the only reason I haven't taken them back. When unpacking the speakers if you're not careful you will punch a hole in the 4" subwoofer because it is mounted underneath the cabinet and has no cover to protect it. The speakers will add bass but will cause the vocals to be too low. There is no way to control the amount of bass or even a tone control. The wiring and control pod is messy to say the least and because of the way it is wired you will not be able to use it in some situations.

DO NOT BUY -- TOO MUCH BASS!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased two sets of this Logitech speakers. The bass is overpowering. Using 2 Dell PC's, there is no way to control the frequency. Logitech Customer Service has not provided any solution. Using a third party equalizer has not helped. Too much time has elapsed for me to return these units to Best Buy. So I am going to throw them in the trash.

Hello scguru, Very sorry to hear about the issue you're having with too much bass with the Z313 2.1 Channel Speaker System. Most PC's have a way for you to troubleshoot sound problems and adjust bass levels of your PC's sound. Right click on the sound icon at the bottom right of your Windows taskbar and then click on "Troubleshoot sound problems". Hope that this helped and that all is going better. Thank you for being a Logitech customer. - Richard from Logitech

    Questionable Quality

I've owned these for about 3 months now, and I never write reviews, however this product is so poor I had no choice. The sound only works in one channel now and the quality is so poor with the volume control. Bang for buck its tolerable, but since mine was defective, definitely think twice with these speakers.

Good for the little over 9 months that it worked

Worked good for the 9 months I have had it and then without warning she died and I am sure it has something to do with the power as the green light on the volume went out at the same time the volume died out. So, for the price, I guess it wasn't bad, just thought it would last longer than 9 months.
