I originally saw this in the theater and was eager for the home release. This is one of the best "Hollywood" reenactments of events I've yet seen. It was as realistic and authentic as was possible and thankfully few or no embellishments were added to the story. In the extras, each and every person involved in the creation of the movie was respectful to a degree not often seen, as each actor was playing a real person and the movie was trying to recreate actual events.

It is amazing the pain and suffering these MEN went through...too have that much power in your mind to over come all of those obstacles is just amazing to me. It also shows the high standards that must be met to be a Navy Seal.The code the Afgans have that protected the last suvivor is also interesting to me.Before this book/movie I had never heard of it. Its nice to know there are some good people in Afganistan. Gows to show there are good people every where.

This movie is easily one of the best of the year and 1 of my favorites that I've seen in a long time. This movie should touch ANY American who watches it....especially if you know somweone who served in the military. The amount of appreciation & respect that I have for soldiers is unparalleled!!! It is amazing that a man can go through what Marcus did and come out alive. My thanks and respect to anyone who is serving in the US Military....THANK YOU ALL!!!

This is an amazing depiction of the true story behind Operation Red Wings. If you have read the book, you will not be disappointed with its depiction of the battle on the mountain. I was a little put off that they had to change the ending to make it more 'Hollywood' but at least they stayed true to the stories of what happened on the mountain. The special features on the BD are amazing and give a lot of insight the the personal stories of those involved.

This story is a testament of the dedication and commitment of our military. The brotherhood of the teams is unrivaled and in most cases under appreciated. Peter Berg presents a true sense of the danger these soldiers face on a daily basis. Marcus Lattrell was a hands on consultant in making his book into an accurate movie and honors his fallen brothers and the teams with this project. Definitely one of Mark Wahlberg and Ben Fosters best projects to date.

Lone Survivor stars Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch and others as Navy SEALs whose mission into Afghan mountains is compromised, a massive Taliban army with heavy guns surround the team unexpectedly. Navy SEALs was sent with a simple mission, stake out the village from the surrounding mountains, and move on their target when the time is right. Ultimately things changed for our four Navy SEALs.....

I was a fan of the book and could not wait for the movie to come out. I walked away from the movie with mixed reviews: 1) First and foremost - the movie does an excellent job of honoring the fallen! 2) Fans of the book will realize that the movie ends quite differently than the real-life events, and the movie also leaves out a majority of Marcus' evasion saga. 3) I was a bit disappointed in the cast. Marcus Luttrell is a 6'5" Texan country boy, and they cast a 5'8" ghetto Bostonian to play him. Don't get me wrong, I like Marky Mark's movies, but he doesn't really pull off playing Marcus Luttrell very well. 4) Overall, the realism in the tactics and firefight shown here is as close to real I have seen in a movie in a long time. It keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time.

Since this movie is based on a true event the extra work that the production team put into it paid off. You get to know the characters like a neighbor next door like a friend. The special effects make you feel the bumps and falls. The scenes with the falls maybe to extreme for some, but the fact that these men actually did what your seeing is amazing, You walk away respect for our troops but even more for these men that are called "Navy Seal" .

Its not usual for a movie to come together and as a viewer you feel the passion of the product and are left thinking after the film has ended. This is one of those rare times though. Everyone seemingly put their head down so to speak, respected the story, and made the best feature they could. You have emotion, action, and drama galore for over 2 hours of on the edge of your seat viewing and with that you can ask no more. Incredible story.

Director Peter Berg did an amazing job telling the story of Operation Red Wings. It was crazy to see what those 4 men actually went through that day. And all 4 actors did a great job bringing them to life and helping the viewer to understand who these men were, what they were about and how much they cared about each other. From top to bottom every aspect of this movie (directing, camera work, location, acting & the extras) was amazing!

This movie really focuses on detail and the bond between men put in impossible situation. Each actor went above and beyond to correctly portray the people they played. With the gravity of the story, it needed to be done right to honor the soldiers that gave their lives. They hit the nail on the head. It's a movie that every American should watch.

If you are patriotic or have had a family member served in the military then this is a must buy. By buying this movie you are supporting the "Lone Survivor foundation," which helps wounded warriors at a healing retreat. The movie gives you a glimpse of the horrors some of military personnel encounters and how every sacrifice is worth something. The movie does not add very much dramatization, so what you see is what took place.

True heart breaking story of the sacrifice our soldiers make. A true band of brothers with some of the not so flattering aspects to show the reality of the people portrayed. Anyone familiar with the territory this took place in will know it was not filmed anywhere near the middle east. That's a small gripe I guess, but I first saw this in the theater and found the first wide landscape shot jarring. Read the book and see the movie.

So I know a lot of people are torn over movies that depict war -- but for those of you who feel this, you should at least give Lone Survivor a chance. The cast of actors that were put together to tell this story are great. It's nice to see some of them expanding in roles that you wouldn't normally see them in, and while extremely intense -- this movie definitely delivers in terms of plot, character development and action.

I got this disc for my husbands birthday because we really like this movie. But what I enjoy most about this type of product is the ability to watch it on Blu-Ray, regular DVD, and also on the computer or tablet with the online code that is given. It makes the $20 stretch further when we are able to watch the movie on several different devices for any given reason. I will return to best buy in the future for another combo pack.

First picture quality pristine bluray disc pure count hairs on face. Sound track incredible as if helicopters are in room 5 picture 5 sound. Movie a incredible amount of courage of our Navy Seals a 4 man team went in against dozens of taliban shows we fight with confidence and feel second to none but i would have sent in at least asquad consisting of 13 combat men for mission intense funny wisecracks overall great movie.

Strictly talking from a story telling aspect this movie does a great job of building up the characters and making you feel what they are feeling. Their real life struggles even overseas makes you relate to the characters and feel emotionally involved. The suspense you feel during the movie is real as you care for each member of their team. While the title itself is a spoiler the journey to the end is a memorable one.

I love this movie. I think the Berg/Wahlberg combination are great (see Deepwater Horizon and Patriots Day). The UHD picture to me, is close to reference. The brightness of outdoor scenes, the colors of the trees as well as the colors of the wardrobe and tile of the native Afghans was detailed. The sound is incredible. This movie made me actually favor DTS:X over Atmos. Amazing realism.

A true story told in this riveting movie about a small team of SEALs that are left out in the middle of Afghanistan with no reinforcements anywhere close and they are outnumbered and defy the odds in wiping out a large Taliban-ruled area. Mark Wahlberg is outstanding in this film. A true must-have movie for your collection.

This is a really really good portrail of a true story of a mission over in Iraq from around 2004. All the actors do a great job at representing all the fallin American marines. The director didnt hold back on what war/gun fights do to the human body, so be prepared. Will bring a tear to your eye. Make sure to watch the extras, & be very thankful of the sacrafices american families make so you/we/us can live in freedom.
