It has a sturdy side (maybe cardboard?), so it isn't a flimsy case. It has a side zip pocket on the outside front - a great place to hold cards and money. It can replace having to carry a wallet or purse on a day at the park. There is a fabric "handle" on the back - I used it to carry on my hand sometimes. It is wide and appears well attached.
