This battery would not charge. Orange light remained rapid and never changed to green even after 24 hours. 2 1/2 hours is the charging time.

I got this LP-E6 battery as a spare for my Canon 5D Mark ii DSLR. Works well. Handily, the yellow cap can be placed two different ways to indicate full charge (blue label underneath opening) or empty (black underneath).

If you own a Canon camera STAY AWAY FROM AFTERMARKET BATTERIES. I purchased this Canon battery as I found that after about 500-700 photos on my 5d MKll (depending on the attached lens) the battery begins to get weak. Other stores are less expensive for this item, but I needed it in a hurry. I have tried the much cheaper aftermarket batteries that all the camera stores sell with my other Canon cameras. They typically only last about a year (with a five year warranty) and have blown out two different Canon chargers. Spend the extra. Go with Genuine Canon batteries. I have a Canon XT that I bought when it first came out, about 5 - 6 years ago. The original battery will still shoot 700 - 1000 photos before it dies ( the XT has taken over 50,000 photos). I also have a Canon XTi & T2i.

I use my Canon 5D Mark II with a portrait battery grip regularly. I slipped the stock battery into the grip, and needed another battery to fill the other slot. At first I tried using generic batteries available at many locations online. I've had problems with the other batteries including: 1. The battery did not include the chip to communicate with the camera. The camera complains and can never tell how much battery life remains. 2. The chip went defective some time after purchase. 3. The battery slips out of the grip and won't stay in the camera. 4. The battery exploded while charging. 5. The battery charge doesn't hold nearly as much as the stock Canon battery. 6. The batteries without the chip need to be charged on a separate charger. The stock charger refuses to charge these batteries. I've put up with a lot by trying to save a few dollars with a third-party battery. I finally purchased a second Canon-brand battery and got rid of all the aftermarket batteries. They fit well, don't pop out when trying to use them, charge quickly, and hold a great charge. I shot 1500 photos over 6 hours last night at an event, and the two batteries are still more than 1/2 full. This is with the camera tethered and powered on the entire time! Forget trying to save a few dollars with aftermarket! It's not worth the headaches!

Canon makes the best batteries, stay away from the third parts.

I have tried many off brand batteries for canon cameras in the past. I have Canon branded batteries that were purchased with my 10d (back in '03) that were working great in my 40d (purchased last year). However the off branded batteries I bought with my 40d get about half the life on a charge. If you plan on using Canon cameras long into the future, the Canon branded batteries are worth the investment.

I bought this battery as a back-up for my Canon EOS 7D. Being an amateur I don't have the need for the abundance of power needed by professionals but even with the occasional use of an external flash the two batteries will last me a full day of photographing in the Ozarks and Quachitas of Arkansas.

I've charged the battery once and it keeps on going. I'm not using the camera daily but it has lasted for several weeks. Will buy another when I start shooting weddings and expect the two to be more than enough to last.

Got to have batteries and I hate buying the generic ones. You get what you pay for.
