I have tried to save a buck with the generic and knock off filters. They are not as effective plus they have a slower frustrating water flow rate. This LG filter snaps right in snug and is made specifically for this refrigerator. And on top of that the generics are not that cheaper, especially since you are drinking water daily into your body. Is your and your guests health worth just saving $10 every six months / year?

Saved a lot of money on a whole house filter this way. Just have to remember to change them out frequently. This model is easy to access and change out without taking out a bunch of food like my last one.
