Nice MP3 player for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I finally decided to buy an MP3 player, but didn't want to spend a small fortune on one. This Eclipse Mach Speed 4GB model is real nice for the money. And with 4GB's you can load a whole ton of MP3's onto it without a problem. The owners manual mentioned that it is wise to create a Folder/Directory for each musical artist/group on the MP3 (which comes up as Removable Drive E:/ in Windows). It makes it really easy then to cut/paste, click, drag/drop, etc..etc.. and transfer MP3's from a CD of MP3's already made, or from Windows Media Player. The screen is real small and the letters are tiny to read. Either that, or at 51, my eyes aren't what they used to be! I have to squint to read the words in the screen - and that's even with wearing a pair of reading glasses! The earphones that come with it are total junk. Toss them out like I did and go to Wal-Mart and pick up a pair of $5.00 earphones by Maxell that have the soft rubber earphones. All is all, it is a really great small, inexpensive, MP3 player for anyone who wants one and doesn't want to pay a lot.

So Far So Good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing was 1/4 the price of the last two units I bought from a major competitor. Its almost exactly the same size and also has the CLIP. Would be nice to be able to get a rubber housing but who cares. It was relatively easy to load my stuff from Media Player. It took I would say an hour to load 700 songs. Anyway I dont have complaints so far I just use it to work out. Good value.

Not bad for a cheapy.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Small monocrome screen. The music stops playing when you hit the menu button. Slow music transfer speed. Programmable equalizer for customizing sound quality. Love the belt clip, In the summer, I clip it to my bike shorts, In winter I clip it to the front of my jacket. Light. After selecting random and cycling through a buch of songs, it seems to be truely random. Not so with most other mp3 players in this price range. Flip off the switch, and when you turn it back on, it starts the last song you were playing. For the price, if I lose it or destroy it, no big loss. Eclipse, you seem to have hit a home run with this one!

Nice price but doesn't work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OK, So I bought one of these for my girlfriend to use at the gym. It seemed like a nice small simple player at a really good price. But the first one I brought home would not power up when I connected it to the USB on my computer. I tried multiple USB outlets and a different cord, Nothing. So I took it back and the folks at BB were great about the return, I got another one from stock they opened it up and made sure that it powered up. But when I took it home and loaded it with a few songs it appears as if the headphone jack is faulty. I left it plugged in for over an hour to be sure it was fully charged but still no music. I give up, I guess I'll end up spending over twice as much for the SanDisk model. Disappointing.

Very short battery life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought I did not fully charge it so stopped playing. But it showed battery low and needs to be charged. So, last night I charged it overnight, to have it ready for today at work. I had it on starting at 7 AM, volume Level 1 (to protect my hearing), About 11:15 AM it turned off, needs to recharged. The sound is great, I like the simplicity. If the battery life could lasts until it is time to go home, I would be happy with this.

Small, but has too many issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would not purchase this mp3 player ever again because it does not charge well. The usb cord is very sensitive so it stops charging at the slightest touch, then the computer no longer recognizes it. It takes way too long to fully charge, try a few hours. If you have it on random, it plays only a few songs repeatedly and it keeps playing one song over and over no matter how many times you skipped that song. If you delete that particular song, it just does the same with another song. Point blank it's not a very good mp3 player.

Great value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Years ago, I bought an MP3 player, with 128 MB of storage for about $150.00. Now, you can get this one, with 4 GB of storage (40 times as much) for only $19.95! This is just what my wife wanted, as she can clip it on her hat or bathing suit at the beach. It's very light, and has room for all her songs. The sound quality is fine.

Met my needs

Good? Bad? Depends on your use.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's get the garbage out of the way up front. If you want an iPod with half the memory for 4x the price, buy an iPod - not an Eclipse MP3 player for $19.99. But if you want a decent little player for workouts, the Eclipse is a very good option. First, the things it DOESN'T give you: 1. It doesn't have a "lock" button. I like a "lock" button, but the on-off is a sliding switch, and the buttons on the face have to be pushed twice (once to bring up the screen, once to perform a function) so the lack of "lock" has never been a problem. 2. The screen is TINY. Plainly said, you pretty much cannot navigate through the system with any success. You can't read it very well in good lighting and it's impossible to do so in bad light. You will not be able to browse through screens and find that certain song. It's not impossible, but it's too much of a hassle to try it. That being said, I use it for working out - not for providing sound throughout my home - so who gives a darn? If you only have your workout songs loaded on it, do you really care which song happens to be playing? Skipping songs and adjusting volume are a snap so what's the big deal? 3. It will start on the same song every time you turn it on regardless of how many songs you've listened to or what song is playing when you turn it off, regardless of how you go about turning it off. BUT, again, who cares? Hit "skip" and you're in business. If it runs out of juice and abruptly stops, that WILL change that first song. One note - if you're skipping through songs and change your mind, you can't skip back to a song. Skipping appears to be completely random. That's about it. I haven't noticed the sound being any worse than what I need when using earbuds in a gym, or that it's difficult to do the basics. Some complaints I've read are because people didn't actually read the instructions as to how to increase volume, etc. It also seems to hold its juice fine. Charge it a little a couple of times a week to be safe and you'll be in business. Cliff's Notes version: If you're looking for a workout MP3 player, you will have no regrets with this product. If you're looking for $100 worth of bells, whistles, and name-brand quality from a $20 off-brand product, pass it by.

Nice for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This item is very small (1 1/2 inch x 1 1/2 inch or so) and weighs practically nothing. It has a clip on the back so it's perfect for running or working out. You can clip it anywhere and not know it's there. The biggest problem I had with it was that it wouldn't synch music so I had to do the copy and paste thing which worked out great. Alot of people get hung up on this part and think it's defective (upon reading other reviews) but just copy and paste and it's fine. Holds about 1000 songs. Sound quality nice for the price. Just get some decent earbuds. Battery last about 3 hours, volume full notch, before needing a charge.

Perfect for running
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this player a week ago and it is perfect for my 10k training. It's light and has a clip so I don't have to wear an armband, which I love! The price is awesome, and I have already loaded 800 songs with tons of more space for more. Great product!

Extremely Poor Sound Quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.(I gave this one star due to the fact that, while it was very simple to use, with good features for what it promised (listening to music), I couldn't actually LISTEN to it.) I went to Best Buy to find a basic mp3 player. I didn't want a camera or voice recorder, so as I browsed the shelf for one, I flocked to this one. It had a nice price and it only played music. I couldn't ask for more. I bought it and went home, ready to download music onto it. I did very easily. My computer recognized it within seconds. It was all going well until I LISTENED to it. I turned it on, happy with the simple display, but I was growing extremely unhappy with the sound. In some songs (Like, say, Fireflies by Owl City, a song WITH LYRICS), the lyrics were not audible at all! Only an instrumental played! Other songs, specifically Telephone by Lady Gaga and Pharaoh's Throne by LittleKuriboh (they seemed to be the only songs with this problem), it sounded like the singers were in a bathroom. Their voices went in and out, but were barely audible. All of the instrumental songs had only one part audible. PLEASE don't waste twenty dollars on this product. It really isn't worth it. Invest more money in a different product that's, say, thirty or forty dollars. The companies put more care into those, and the sound quality will certainly show that.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like it b/c ti was small and I was able to download a lot of songs, but the volume is not very good on it, and it is awful at keeping a charge! I have had it less then 6 months and I don't even use it anymore b/c it won't keep a charge...thank goodness I only paid $20 for it but I that's why...you get what you pay for...
