Classic!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes it’s a low budget foreign film! But have to love it! Transfer to Blu-ray is good! Best they could do with the budget this film had!

Mad Max!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this in a hefty sale having never seen it before. I loved Fury Road and wanted to watch the original trilogy. The transfer on this is alright... the audio mix left a bit to be desired but let's be real here this movie is 30+ yrs old and made for peanuts. The action held up well but this is a much different movie than the rest of the series. It is inferred throughout the movie that they are in a dystopian future but nothing close to the latter movies. Max is actually a cop with a boss and fellow officers. He also has a wife and child. Things don't really get crazy until The Road Warrior but this one sets up Max's motivations for future movies. There is an interesting ~20min doc on here about the making, marketing and cultural impact of the first movie but that's about it for extras. If you're into Fury Road I'd say both the movie & behind-the-scenes are worth a look. I don't know how many more times I'd watch this but for $4 it's almost at the cost of a rental. Recommend getting while it's on sale

oilpunk’s where it’s at
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the film that set Gibson speeding off toward international action-hero superstardom, and it's not hard to see why, director George Miller—working on a miniscule budget, no less—staged several peddle-to-the-metal sequences that still have the power to whiten knuckles today. This rubber-burning exploitation film that launched a franchise and up-shifted Mel Gibson's career from obscurity to superstardom. Armchair road warriors will have no real qualms with this solid Blu-ray release from MGM, which packs a solid A/V presentation, an informative commentary track, and decent making-of retrospective

Good Blu-ray and special features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is part one of now 4 in the Mad Max series. The Blu-ray is good and the special features are extensive which includes interviews with Mel Gibson and the actress who plays his wife in the film. I won't get into detail about the actual movie, but the value of the Blu-ray is good for what it comes with. The version I purchased came with a reversible cover. It allows you to show the "newer" cover as displayed on the item online or flip the cover and reveal the original movie poster look from the 70s.

Solid 70s restoration in 4K - minor defects
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Another older classic, another solid Kino Lorber release. The 4K HDR colors are a bit cool and some darker shadows than expected but nothing overly annoying/distracting. The 1080p blu-ray using the new 4K scan leaves much to be desired though. Hold on to the older MGM release on Blu if you still want that formats best for this film.

No brainer for $4.99
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A classic movie that I watched when first released. I was a kid, but this was still a "must have" in my collection and hadn't gotten around to purchase. Another blu ray that, for the sale price, was a no brainer. Now, blu ray quality is harder achieve a noticeable difference on older movies, so I can't say that this is anymore stunning than on a regular DVD, but I see no need to pay more for a regular DVD copy, if the blu ray is less expensive.

Here’s How It Began
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had hoped this would be a disc with both the original Australian version as well as the American version but nope. It’s the Australian version and that is okay. Good picture and good sound. Still waiting for The Road Warrior AKA Mad Max 2 in 4K.

Blu Ray version has better detailes
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mad Max is one of those movies you have probably seen on Vhs or maybe Dvd more than a few times, but on Blu Ray it's a whole different world . The crisp details of the movie really do come through. I've seen this movie many times but on Blu ray there is stuff I have never noticed before till now in this format . Well worth picking up at the Best Buy Blu Ray price to experience a whole new feel and look to the movie .

Another way to see a classic action flick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There isn't much about "Mad Max" that hasn't been said already, and this new edition on Blu-ray doesn't change that by much--there's a new set of interviews and maybe some features not on the previous MGM release, but otherwise it doesn't look like there's much of a difference between the two. It's still a great action film, and an excellent primer for the new film that's currently out in theaters.

Excellent movie with a good 4K presentation
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is for the 4K aspect. The movie it's self is excellent (a cult classic). The 4K presentation is good, not great. If you own the DVD it is worth the upgrade. If you own the Blu-Ray, it's up to you.

A Cool Package for a Cool Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This film is a cult classic and while I knew what to expect of the movie, the special edition packaging was the real treat in this version. Each comes with a unique set of original production photos that provide a really cool touch. Any collector would want this in their arsenal.

Mad Max is great - disc is decent
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mad Max is a great movie although it's definitely not for everyone. As for the disc, the presentation is solid but it doesn't rival the technical achievements of newer discs or even some more delicate transfers of older movies. Still though, a solid disc for Mad Max fans.

Classic Film
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The beginning of a classic cinematic character. The movie has a timeless charm to it. While I do enjoy the later installments better (with Fury Road being the best) this is the one that started it all. The Blu-ray looks good and the Metalpak is nice.
