The movie is visually stunning. With that being said: plot was predictable and dialogue was non-existent. Highly disappointing.

Review of all versions of the movie (4K, 3D, BW)

I'll start off by saying I love the movie -- it's a fun movie with a lot of great cinematography and over-the-top action scenes. This review focuses more on the different versions of the film: Having bought the Blu-Ray, Black & Chrome set & Blu-Ray 3D previously, I wanted to see what the 4K experience was like. Blu-Ray: Looks great. Sounds great. Overall very good experience. Black & Chrome set: Definitely recommended; includes both the original blu-ray and a black & white version which is a totally different experience. Not the same as just lowering the color on your TV.. this one really "shines" (no pun intended). Even after watching the normal version several times, this felt like a totally new movie. 3D: Again, a totally unique experience that was a lot of fun. Good 3D popout and depth.. Alongside the Black and Chrome version, this is tied for my favorite version of the film. Also includes the 2D Blu-Ray. 4K: And here's where I was disappointed. I have a high-end UHD Player (Oppo 203), high-end 4K OLED (LG 65c6p) and was excited for it. Unfortunately.. it didn't deliver. In fact, parts even look worse. The film is slightly re-colored using the HDR toning (apparently this was done from the original master rather than the same as the previous releases). Beyond that, CGI becomes very noticeable (stuff that looked real in all the other versions looked very fake in this one; the fire, backgrounds and more all looked pretty bad and stood out). The film is also very noisy; apparently this was part of the original effect, but the 4K significantly enhances it and it doesn't look good. Lastly, the overall increase in sharpness isn't as significant as you would like. I will say that the first few chapters were significantly worse than the later chapters and I don't know why. Of all the versions I've watched, the 4K was the least impressive. I went in with mixed expections on what to expect (some reviews are very positive, others very poor) and unfortunately wasn't impressed.

One of the best action sci-fi films of the decade gets an alternate release with a really interesting black and white cut of the film. The black and white version remains just as compelling as the original film which employed a heavy teal and yellow color pallet to inject life into the wastelands of its post apocalyptic setting. I highly recommend this blu ray release of the film if you are a fan of this excellent film.

Good movie without relying on CGI

Action scenes don't rely on CGI as much as Marvel which is a plus. The cinematography is pretty good, don't know what's up with all the weird looking characters though. I wish Max would just beat them down. The director of this film should be hired for DC movies like Superman.

    Diamond In The Rough

This was the best kind of find for me. I had heard no buzz about the movie and caught a sneak preview when it was On-Demand by chance, then was blow away by how enjoyable the movie was. I later read that the movie was filmed in 3-d so I picked it up on 3-d bluray. The 3-d is extremely effective at adding perspective to the non stop action, but does not resort to gimmicky effects which would probably end up causing fatigue in a movie which is essentially one long chase seen. I have not seen the UHD version of the film but even in 3-d bluray all of the textural elements are razor sharp, especially the desert which is a constant backdrop for the film. In fact the landscape almost acts as another character in this film, always working against the heroes. I think my favorite thing about this movie is the way that the eyes tell each characters emotional back story and stand in sharp contrast to the bleak backdrop. In fact, in a movie with so little dialog, we really care what happens to these people and feel empathy for them. Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy do a great job of squeezing the most out of roles without a lot lines to chew on. It's not brain surgery but as far as action movies go it's right up there amongst the best of them. It definitely takes the 80's Mad Max films up a very big notch. In a movie with so many bizarre and reprehensible characters in it, it all seems to make perfect sense and fits into this post appocolyptic world where normal life is left way in the rear view mirror. Highly recommended when you want to put the pedal to the floor and hold it there for a couple hours!

    Best movie of 2015

Even though it won 6 Oscars, I still feel this deserved all 10. To me, everything in this film is perfect. In an age of overdone CGI, abundant exposition, and choppy editing...along comes a 71 year-old director to show everyone how it's done. The picture is gorgeous. The action intense, creative, and clear. The story simple yet dripping with nuance and heart. A lot of people dismiss this film because it has so little dialogue. Director George Miller has always been a visual director, and he's made his masterpiece here. This is a showcase of storytelling-thru-action. If it were a silent film, you could still enjoy it. Tom Hardy is great here as Max (filling in for Mel Gibson) and Charlize Theron gets her best role in over a decade here as the iconic Furiosa. I love every minute of this film and it currently sits #11 on my favorite films of all time...something I literally never expected. I would ask everyone to give this film a chance, because there's truly never been anything like it

I was a big fan of the originals back in the 80s, particularly Beyond Thunderdome. When I saw a remake was coming and that it had cast Tom hardy and Charlize Theron to boot I was pretty excited. For fans of Mad Max or just dystopian future movies in general, this one does not disappoint! The action is off the charts and over the top, but in a very good and entertaining way. This is definitely a Grade A popcorn flick that keeps you entertained from start to finish. This is by far one of my favorite action films of 2015. Every part is well acted and this bleak future is brought to life on screen in a very believable and stunning fashion. Highly recommended.
