Where is Man Of Steel 2?!

To me this is the best film in the DCEU. Supes is selflessly played perfectly by Henry Cavill and Michael Shannon is a great Zod and overall a merciless villain whose veracity is shown with every scene he’s in. With that said, it is really a shame what Warner Brothers are doing, or rather not doing with this iconic character that dates back to America’s Great Depression where and why he was created and in a way that’s where the DCEU is ironically enough.

Superman the reeves versions are classic and that ok version of Superman returns but this man of steel a reboot of Superman with Henry cavaill as Clark Kent/Superman better than Brandon routh and successor to late Christopher reeves. I love Superman films and this one was good I had it on Blu-ray and as soon I had 4k player I had upgrade it and it was worth it .

Featuring outstanding performances from Henry Cavill and Michael Shannon, but also in smaller roles like Christopher Meloni's. There's a LOT to like here, not least the absolutely fantastic soundtrack by Hans Zimmer. This feels different than most other superhero movies, and that's not by accident. This is a little more subdued in tone, and a little more hopeful... a little more triumphant when the darkness finally gives way to dawn. As a small bonus it includes a very rare case where Hollywood's use of a recurring theme or dialog line by a different character, later on in the story, doesn't feel cheap or insulting. A good death is its own reward. Gotta smile.

I enjoyed the overall theme it set which was similar to many action super heroes, "great power" "great responsibility" jargon, but the fact it had a star studded cast such as the likes of Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, and the still gorgeous Diane Lane really sold the film as a modern day classic. Crowe's role in the movie is farreaching in that he provides us with Krypton's dying legacy as well as mentors Superman. Costner's ability to paint and instill earth's humanity into Clark was also profoud. Cool outer space technology, intense fight scenes, and powerful acting made this a winner and can't wait for the sequel!

I watched this series a bit backwards. After seeing and enjoying wonder woman I was baffled by the reference to the photo at the beginning and its importance to the series, so I dug into my movie collection to find batman vs superman where I thought the story line began, only to find that the story actually began with man of steel. Since I am old enough to have seen the original superman movies at the theater I thought I could pick up the story without seeing the first of the new series. I must admit the series as a whole makes more sense when viewed in the correct sequence. while the all new movies in the series have great special effects and an interesting story there is still something about the originals that just remains special.

I found the movie to be very engaging which says a lot for me who has never been a Superman fan. It made the character much more relatable and actually showed his struggles fitting in with humans much more real. The way the story was structured in a non-linear way was great as well. Reminded me of the way the Batman Begins story was told. I thought the action sequences at the end took a bit of a dip and ended up looking like a transformers movie. I felt like you can't take the story to destroying most of the city and killing what seemed to be thousands of people and expect Superman to be okay with it. It just didn't make sense with the rest of the story. Either way I found it to be an awesome movie and a step forward for DC. I really hope it isn't ruined with this new Superman 2/Justice League movie coming up in 2015.

I loved this movie on the theaters and now in my UHD. The movie itself was very well made from the actor Cavil to the movie story line. The audio and musical was fantastic too. Yes, it is kind of long but every scene necessary in the development of the movie. Now as far as the UHD version, I played it on my XBX One Scorpio and picture quality was great. Of course this depends on the type of TV but on some given scenes I found myself just appreciating the quality. Picture perfect and great usage of surround sound. I hope they make another sequel keeping the same standards. And yes, I think it was so many times better than Batman Vs Superman.

So first and foremost my 5 star rating is for the steelbook item and not the movie. This review is for the steelbook case. I absolutely love the case and the artwork used. I would highly recommend this to any movie collector. The movie itself is not my favorite of the DC films but the case is very cool. Nothing really special about this set other than the case. I bought it only for the case to complete my collection of steelbooks. If you just want the movie and you don't collect the steelbooks than go with the cheapest option. But if you are like me and you are thinking about adding this steelbook to your collection, I would suggest this purchase.

I was a little hesitant when I saw another Superman movie coming out. I saw "Superman Returns" and was very disappointed with the movie, and the Branden Routh as Superman. That being said, Henry Cavill is a way better Superman and there were times when I thought he was Christopher Reeve. The story is very cool because it has more of the Krypton origin and explains a lot more about Superman. From Earth's perspective, it looks at Superman as an alien/ extra terrestrial which I thought was cool. The action and the special effects in this movie are phenomenal. The only bad things I have to say about it is that the scenes are a little jumpy, non-cohesive. It gets confusing as flashbacks are prominent and come from nowhere. Also, the ending was a little anticlimactic, but overall this was an awesome movie.

This movie was surprisingly better than expected. I thought, "Great, another Superman movie. Just what we need," when my hubby brought the Blu-ray home. I'm not really into action movies without a story/plot to them and wasn't expecting much from this one. The story sucked me in, especially the unique take on Krypton and what caused it's ultimate demise. Also, I wasn't sure about the actor chosen to fill Clark Kent's role. I'd seen him in other shows/movies and thought he was a decent actor, but I didn't think he'd be a good superman. He surprised me. I understand they plan to make a second Man of Steel, and while I'm leery of sequels, we will at least rent it if not buy it as well. This is one Blu-ray/DVD combo I don't regret owning.

Terrific premise with a Jor-El that is part Warrior and Scientist in the Kryptonian Hierarchy. Confusing scene where Jonathan Kent is killed by the tornado which seemed out of place instead of the traditional heart attack. Death of General Zod still disturbing to the Superman faithful that Kal would never take a life but find a smarter better way to overcome his enemies in battle. Superman's compassion and great admiration for life would never allow him to be a killer no matter what the circumstance. A better scene could have been Superman lasering Zod's eye lids shut with super heat vision and then tossing him into the Phantom Zone. It's time to bring out the Big Bad Villains like Brainiac or Darkseid or Doomsday for a fresh new story line instead of rehash tagging Lex Luthor.

One of the best Superman movies made

Besides Superman 1 & 2 with Christopher Reeves this is the best Superman movie made to date. Let's be real we were all sick and tired of a super being clashing with an albeit super genius yet weak in comparison human (Lex). It was refreshing to see them bring back Zod as his first nemesis. The action is hard to follow at times, however I prefer to have that then no action at all like anything after Superman 2. The origin story is pretty true although a bit long. I did enjoy how they involved Jor El throughout the movie. I have some problems with parts of the script as his moral limits were pushed far too soon in the reboot and should have been saved for someone more like Dark Seid who corrupts and twists him. But all in all this was a great reboot and look forward to more in the series.

I really love the movies in 3-D and feel eventually this is where film making is heading (unless holography shows up soon). I love 3-D for the the obvious depth that it gives to film photography and just adds to the "realism." I thought the 3-D quality was good on this film - I haven't done any 2-D to 3-D upscaling on my Oppo-103 player so I can't comment on the value of the media in that fashion. However I am in love with 3-D as I mentioned earlier. I won't go into a synopsis here as there are better sources for those kind of reviews, but I thought the story was pretty good, especially considering how "familiar" the basic Superman story is. I really like the effects, best Krypton ever, etc... I say, BUY IT!!!

A strong successor to the original Superman I & II...and way better than Superman Returns. While Man of Steel falls prey to some of the weaknesses of modern CG-centric studio blockbusters, like too many repetitive fast action city destruction scenes, it also has many strong character moments driven by good storytelling. The third act is the weakest of the bunch. I wish they had spent more time with the young, developing man of steel in Kansas. A little more Smallville mixed in. And more development of Zod and his minions. But overall I think Snyder and his enormous team of collaborators in the cast & crew made a solid film that re-imagines the Superman world in a good way. The music from Hans Zimmer was perfect and shows again why he is a master modern music composer.

I already owned the original release of this movie and I can't sing praises enough for the amazing acting, directing, and engaging story line of the film. Man of Steel is one of my favorite super hero movies and I really appreciate the fact that it was re-released in steelbook form embellished with artwork by my favorite comic artist of all time, the legendary Jim Lee!! So I had to have it! The movie is a must have for those of us who want to see more than a smash and crash special effects extravaganza for sure. But this steelbook is a dream for anyone who grew up a fan of collecting comics drawn by great artists!!

I am a HUGE Superman fan who loved the "first two" original ones with Christopher Reeve, so when I heard they were re-doing it, I was excited. And then Superman Returns came out, and it left me floored at how bad it was. So much so that when I heard they were doing it again, my expectations were non-existent. But, then I saw this movie, Man of Steel and I was floored yet again, this time for a very different reason. This movie didn't fall ridiculously flat like its predecessor. Here, the acting was superb, the story was great, but what really got me was the depth of the characters. Henry Cavil, who played the man himself was amazing. The villain was fantastic and I LOVED Jor-El! Definitely a winner.

Overall I really liked Man if Steel and recommend this version of the DVD / Blu Ray. It's definitely the best Superman film since the second Christopher Reeve tale and most if the plot and acting is quite good. That said the film does drag; we all know they're trying to fit a lot into an origin story but there's still a few too many action scenes. The villains also ham up a few if their scenes. Also, this Superman is similar to the current comic version. So, if you (like me) grew up with a pre-2010s Lawful Good "Boy Scout" Superman you're going to be a little disappointed. This is not intended as a critique but just FYI cause this seemed to annoy a lot of reviewers when the film was released.

I held off purchasing this for a few years because I figured the 3D blu-ray disc was enough. Reviews advised the picture quality isn't that much better than a regular blu ray. So I picked this up and the picture is slightly better but the main difference is the HDR kicks the highlights and darks up a notch. People are divided on this movie, but I think it's the best super hero movie ever made. This I how the superhero's are supposed to fight in the action scenes! Highly recommended!

When i heard they were making a Superman movie I was really worried. When i heard that Christopher Nolan was involved in its production, i stopped worrying. As a long time DC comics fan its really satisfying to see these characters come to life that is completely opposite of the way the characters in the Marvel Universe are being brought to life. I think it would have been really easy for Warner Brothers to conform to the cannon that Disney has created for writing Marvel films given the amount of success they've had, but I'm relieved they didn't, because these films are so unlike any superhero movie thats come before them and its got me looking forward to whats coming next.

Like Spider-Man and Batman, Superman gets a reboot as director Zack Snyder, with a big assist from producer Christopher Nolan, conjure a darker setting for the Krypton immigrant. The movie goes into full out “Transformer”-styled destructive mode in the final act. While some will feel this adrenaline rush is needed after the cerebral middle section, I found it tedious, loud and frankly, pretty boring. We’ve all seen it before in “Thor,” “The Avengers” and many other movies. It goes on forever. It’s as if the producers said, “Hey, we’ve still got some budget left, let’s get the computerized wreckage in high gear.” Those looking for romance and humor will find little of it here. I suspect we may see more of that in the next episode.
