Marantz replacement receiver

They wanted $800 to repair. I decided to replace it. The closest current model is the Cinema 60 but they are $1700. I chose the Cinema 70 to save a few bucks. After setting up for 7/1 speaker config with a front left and right high, I ran the audessy setup and was disappointed with the results. The problem is that the auto cross over was too high for my small bookshelf speakers. I adjusted the crossovers for all speakers to 40hz which should be too low but obtains the fullest sound it can push. I didn't have to trick the amp on the SR5800. Also, the new amp has half the wattage of my old one and it needs to operate greater than 50% most of the time. I can't say I am dissapointed since it is a lesser model.

Posted .Hello. Thank you for your detailed review of the Cinema 70S. Fortunately, the number shown on the screen for the volume level is only there to indicate if the volume is going up or down. It does not reflect a percentage of the power available. Should you ever wish for more power being fed to your speakers, the Cinema 70S has pre-outs on the rear panel. This allows the addition of an optional external power amplifier, which are popular for home theater enthusiasts with large rooms or with speakers which offer a more challenging load.

This is no exception for this full featured receiver. If you were going to run this in a 2.1 or 3.1 set up, it will be perfect for your small towers or your bookshelves. However if you are looking for a full 5.1 surround sound or larger, you will need a something with a bigger amplifier. This does have a lot of of pre-outs on it so you can use with a separate amplifier, however, if you were looking for everything new all in one component for a larger system, you will need to consider the of the Cinema line of receivers to power your system.

Its sleek low profile makes for a beautiful piece of equipment. I'm not gonna lie, it was installed 11 days ago and I am still on a learning curve to figure out how to operate it to the best of it's ability.

The reason for only 3 stars is 1. the audessy speaker calibration system doesn't really work, so, I had to manually make adjustments. 2. The price is very high for what you get. I was willing to pay it to get the small size.

I was wanting the 4K processing that the 6007 didn’t have. Since I’m using the receiver as a preamp for my Marantz power amp, the fact that the new receiver only has 50 watts per channel was moot. Having really good luck with it so far. My only gripe is the online owners manual instead of a hard copy.
