this speaker brings back my love for alternative music. I much prefer this to the Stanmore, it is a great accessory that sits nicely on the shelf or TV stand.

I absolutely love this speaker. Yes, it’s pretty expensive, but you really can’t beat the sound quality, vintage look, and multi-device pairing capabilities. Very happy with my purchase.

Average sound quality. It’s not better than my Belkin / Devialet Sound Form Elite. AWFUL bluetooth connectivity. Lots of issues when using Apple Music.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you have been having issues with your Acton II Bluetooth. The Acton II Bluetooth Bluetooth may offer a more 'accurate' sound when compared to other speakers that use a 360 degree sound scape as it is a Bass-Reflex stereo design, which is very similar to the type of speakers music would be mixed on. This is a more traditional design, which some people may prefer when compared to the other speakers you have mentioned, models which may offer more colouration to the sound. Sound is quite subjective and different models of speaker will appeal to different listeners for different reasons. As for your connecting issues, please note that the Acton II Bluetooth does have Multi-Point, which will allow for multiple devices to connect to the speaker, this means that if another paired devices comes in range, it may try to connect to the speaker, causing a temporary interruption to the sound. If the Bluetooth issue is not related to this, I would recommend contacting Best Buy support for an exchange, or if you are outside of the return period, please contact Marshall Headphones directly as they offer a great Warranty-Repair service with partnered service centers in the US. I hope you have a great day, take care.

It’s a great sounding speaker. However for the Bluetooth to actually work you have to use an app. Since I’ve had this thing the Bluetooth function has never been able to use the Bluetooth function on any brand new android or iPhone at all.

Hi Matt, thanks for your comments. It is possible to use the speaker without the app: set the source on the speaker to Bluetooth, push and hold in the button until the LED light starts to flash and then locate the speaker in your phone's list of available Bluetooth devices.

The app will enable you to access some additional features such as coupling functions and the equalizer.

This a decent speaker that i really wanted to like and keep. The problem is you need a app to use it and the app needs a firmware update. I have tried for 2 weeks to update woth my android phone and apple iPad and it keeps saying failed. Customer support is nkt helpful they want to know all my about phone and where i purchased the items then in 3 days or so someone will email me. For the price there should be someone to talk to me answer the question.

Thank you so much for your review. I am sorry to hear about the issues you were experiencing with your speaker. Please note that the app is not required to use to the speaker. It can be used with the basic Bluetooth settings. I do know that Marshall's support will need to gather these details before proceeding with a warranty claim, typically to have the speaker repaired and put into working order. Marshall offers a great 12-month warranty with service centers in the US. Alternatively, I would consider this a manufacturing defect, and if you are still within the return period, I would recommend an exchange with Best Buy if possible. Thank you Pamela, take care.

Marshal is a respected product in the commercial music industry. However, this built for home use speaker is overpriced for the sound quality delivered. Less expensive, JBL or Bose for example, are smaller and more portable and deliver equal and in some cases better sound.

I was debating between the white and black but I'm so happy I got the white one! The sound quality is excellent and overall the speaker is designed beautifully.

I bought the brown version of this as a birthday present for my significant other. The color looks very high-end (possibly more than the black or white versions), and the fit and finish of the product are generally very good. The sound quality seems OK, although I think it's easy to do better for cheaper. You're definitely paying for the Marshall brand name and the looks of this unit. The bluetooth setup is somewhat cumbersome to use. One of our neighbors in an apartment complex apparently has the same model in a different color which may be contributing to the difficulty in pairing reliably.

I love this new speaker! First of all, I think these are cool looking speakers. They look just like a mini version of the big Marshall Amps & Speakers you would see on stage at a rock concert. It's a very nice looking speaker. However, more importantly than how it looks is how it sounds. The sound is very impressive, especially for a speaker of this size. I ran it through the paces by playing a variety of genres and types of music - rock, acoustic, loud, soft, female and male singers, instrumental, etc. It sounded great for everything I played. I am especially partial to heavy bass. For the size of speaker this is, I was very impressed by the bass I get out of it. Don't get me wrong, the bass isn't going to compete with a large speaker system or subwoofer, but for a small Bluetooth bookshelf sized speaker, this has some of the best bass I've heard, at high or low volumes. There is a Marshall App that you download to complete walking you through the setup. Connection to Bluetooth was very quick and easy and it maintains a good connection around my house. The App allows you to automatically download the latest updates to the speaker. The App is also where you pull up the manual and you can do things like connect multiple Marshall speakers for stereo sound, and dim or brighten the LED lights. However, my favorite part of the App is the equalizer. There is a 5 band equalizer that allows you to select a number of preset settings for various genres of music or you can also set up your own custom settings. I love to play with the equalizer as that is where you can adjust things to the way you like to listen to music. One thing to note is how to find these settings. When you first connect, the App shows you all Marshall speakers you have connected. I looked in all the menus and clicked on everything I could see and I could not find the additional settings such as the equalizer and LED controls anywhere. I finally went back to the App store and read a review that said the App used to show some dots to the far right side of the screen next to each speaker connected, but apparently the last App update removed those dots. However, just click on the far right side of the screen next to your speaker and it still pulls up the extra settings. That solved my problem and causes no ongoing issue, but they need to fix that piece of the App as you wouldn't know this if you didn't read about it somewhere. Aside from using the App, one other nice feature of these speakers is the manual control knobs on the actual speakers. If you don't want to mess with the App or the phone to control the speaker, there are manual controls that allow you to control volume, bass level, treble level, power on/off, play & pause, skip tracks, fast forward and reverse and switch between Bluetooth and the auxiliary jack. I will probably tend to control most of these things with my phone via a Bluetooth connection, but it is a nice feature you don't always find on Bluetooth speakers, especially the bass and treble controls. It could come in more handy if I have connected a device via the auxiliary jack. Overall I am very happy with the sound, look and functionality of this speaker!
