Distortion at the upper edges of all frequencies. Sounds like broken tweeters. This is my 2nd Marshall Acton. I returned the 1st because of the raspy rattling. Thinking I had bought a defective speaker, I returned the first speaker, bought the second only to find it also was raspy in the same way. Beware!

Thank you for your review. The Acton II has a full range in the upper frequencies, meaning that all high-frequencies will be played will be very true to the mix. If the particular music was mixed with out a slight low-pass filter, harsh frequencies may be heard, this can be the case for non-modern music. It is quite rare that we get reports like this, so this may be a subjective issue, but it is also possible that you received a faulty speaker. In that case we are very sorry for the issues. We hope you are able to find a speaker that works well for you.

The Acton II by Marshall is a very old school looking device with real attention to detail. The manual knobs on top let you control the basic features: volume, treble, bass; the app lets you control equalizer settings as well as connecting other Marshall units for a whole home system. From this small unit, the sound is quite immense and enveloping, even in the largest room in my house (20'x30') at 50% fills the room with bass. At full volume, the sound is not distorted and still rich. It packs in the sound of a 70's turntable entertainment console into the look of a tabletop radio of the era. Once you download the app, it requests an update to the unit that takes about 10 minutes, after which the app allows you to unlock the equalizer settings among other lighting and connecting settings. I noticed little difference with the equalizer settings, though the sound is still great either way. The Bluetooth connectivity is quite secure even beyond 30 ft. I'm so used to portable speakers with built-in batteries that I was a little surprised this needed to be plugged in to work. It's still quite portable and at least you won't have to worry about how much battery is left.

Even though the majority of the time this Marshall Acton II stays in the living room, I love the sound so much that I will sometimes unplug it and take it with me to my work out room or my bedroom. Let's beginning with the looks of this magnificent bluetooth speaker. It has a very classic design that will fit well with most decor. It has the look and feel of an amp. In order for this bluetooth speaker to work, you will need to download their app onto your device(s). From there it is very easy to pair up and also where the fun begins. Once you turn it on and adjust the bass and treble to your liking, you will be amazed by the sound that this speaker produces. As I mentioned before, I love the sound so much that I will take it with me to other parts of the house. The app is very easy to navigate and you can you use it to customize your speaker. Our neighbor came over and immediately noticed it and is considering getting one of their own once he heard the sound that came out of this Marshall speaker. If you are looking for a speaker that won't take up alot of space and produce great sound, you should consider getting the Marshall Acton II speaker.

I don't know if perhaps I just got a bad unit but the sound is unimpressive, especially for speech which is totally unintelligible. I like the look and the fact that the Bluetooth can be actively connected to 2 devices at once, but the sound is totally unacceptable to me. Will be returning this speaker.

Thank you for your review. Bluetooth indicates that the speaker can be connected wirelessly to your phone, tablet, or computer. The Acton II Bluetooth is part of the Homeline Series, which means it must be plugged into a wall outlet to function. We also sell portable speakers, which includes: Kilburn II, Stockwell II, Tufton, Willen, Emberton II, and the Middleton. These speaker can be used with battery or when plugged in. Once again, thank you for contacting us and take care.

    Magnificent Mini Marshall

Extremely impressed. Solidly built, looks like a miniature Marshall amp head. Getting it set up was slightly troublesome, the Quick-Start Guide was almost useless except for providing the App and Web Site needed. Once there, set-up was a breeze. Bluetooth connectivity to my Android phone and ASUS laptop was quick and worked perfectly. The sound is amazing for a small speaker, good bass, treble and channel separation. Volume is another plus. This gets loud. App's graphic EQ and multiple EQ options allow tailoring to the room or music being listened to. Overall, very much impressed with this speaker. One gripe, since it's an AC powered speaker, a USB port to allow plugging in a phone/MP3 player would be a big plus. Otherwise, no issues. Well Done Marshall.

This speaker is the best. It's honestly really loud and I wasn't expecting it to be. quality is fantastic and you can adjust the bass, treble etc. it is pretty boxy and does need to be plugged in the whole time but it connects to bluetooth easily. It's a nice look alive to older radios. Highly recommend.

I’ve tested the Marshall Action II for about 15 hours and here are some of my reactions. First, the Marshall Action II Bluetooth speaker is NOT a portable speaker. You have to have the speaker plugged into a power source. If you’re looking for a portable Bluetooth speaker, than this is not the product for you. If portability is not a concern for you, then you’re going to LOVE this speaker. It looks incredibly sleek, just like a miniature version of a speaker you would see at a concert. Marshall has an app that you have to download to control volume from you phone (I’m not a fan of requiring an app download to control volume). Let’s talk about the sound. The most important feature of any speaker is sound and this speaker delivers. The Marshall Action II gets REALLY loud. It will fill your room with sound no problem. Rock music comes through really clean. I was most impressed by how much bass their is. For a small speaker, you can actually feel some thumping at middle range bass. Which leads to another cool feature. You can manually control bass and treble directly on the speaker. Want to feel thumping? Crank the bass to 10. It’s nice to have options based on your sound preference. Overall, if you’re looking for a speaker to fill up a room with sound, I would highly recommend the Marshall Action II.

Hi Ankita, thank you for your review and feedback. The Acton II Bluetooth speaker weighs in at less than 5 lbs and doesn't have a battery, it must be plugged into a power source in order for it to function. The Kilburn II, Stockwell II and Emberton speakers all weigh less than the Acton II Bluetooth and are portable models, we hope you will give one a try.
