Just “mid”

It looks great. I’ve got a couple comments on how retro/cool it is. The sound is just “mid” though. I read they use Sony components and dressed it up with Marshall aesthetics. I wish I had researched it beforehand but I was at the beach and had forgotten our superior Boom’s. Holds up great at the beach otherwise but if you want better sound look elsewhere.
Hello Matt, thank you for your review and feedback. Marshall manufacturer's its own speakers, we do not use components from other companies. Our products are designed to be in-line with Marshall's long history in the music industry and we are proud of our classic rock'n'roll design and audio experience.

An ok speaker

It's nice that it has stereo drivers but the sound lacks punch and bass. Throw is short, best used in a bedroom or kitchen.
Hi Peter, thanks for your review. You are correct: the size of the speaker is best suited to a smaller, more personal space like a bedroom or single room. If you are looking to fill a bigger space with audio, then we recommend the larger speakers such as the Middleton or Tufton.

The Marshall Emberton III Portable Bluetooth Speaker impresses with its blend of vintage aesthetic, powerful sound, and modern features, making it an excellent choice for both audiophiles and casual listeners alike.
Design:
One of the standout features of the Emberton III is its iconic Marshall design, inspired by classic guitar amps. The textured vinyl exterior, brass accents, and the signature Marshall logo give it a timeless, rugged appeal. It’s both stylish and durable, with an IP67 water and dust resistance rating, meaning it’s built to withstand the elements. It’s relatively compact and light, making it easy to carry around. The front and back metal grilles offer protection while enhancing the speaker’s cool retro look.
Sound Quality:
Despite its small size, the Emberton III delivers an impressively full and balanced sound. Marshall’s True Stereophonic technology ensures a 360-degree listening experience, which means the sound doesn’t diminish when moving around. Bass is punchy without being overwhelming, and mids and highs are crisp, ensuring vocal clarity and instrumental details. Whether playing rock, pop, or classical music, this speaker maintains quality without distortion, even at higher volumes.
Battery Life:
The battery life is one of the highlights, offering up to 30 hours of playtime on a single charge, which is more than enough for extended outdoor use or weekend getaways. It also features quick charging capabilities—20 minutes of charging provides around 4 hours of playback, making it ideal for those who are always on the move.
Connectivity:
The Emberton III supports Bluetooth 5.1, providing a stable connection up to 30 feet away. Pairing with devices is fast and simple, and the speaker remembers previously connected devices for quick re-pairing. However, it lacks an aux input or other wired options, which could be a drawback for users who prefer that versatility.
Drawbacks:
While the speaker performs well in many areas, it does have a few minor limitations. The lack of a dedicated app for customization means you cannot adjust the EQ settings to suit your preferences, leaving you to rely on your device’s native controls. Additionally, while the 360-degree sound is impressive, it may not fill very large spaces as effectively as bigger speakers would.
Verdict:
The Marshall Emberton III combines excellent sound quality, long battery life, and durable design in a portable package. Its retro aesthetic will appeal to Marshall fans and design-conscious consumers alike, while its rich, immersive sound ensures it stands out among other portable Bluetooth speakers in its price range. If you’re looking for a speaker that balances style, performance, and portability, the Emberton III is a solid choice.

Bluetooth Speaker with Style

I’ve been using the Marshall Emberton III Portable Bluetooth Speaker for about a week, and I’m really impressed with it. First off, the design is super cool—classic Marshall style with that retro vibe. It looks great sitting on a desk or shelf, almost like a piece of décor that happens to play music. Its awesome just fits in my work space.
What I Liked:
The sound quality really stands out for me. For such a small speaker, it’s surprisingly loud and clear. I use it both in my home office and around the house, and it fills the room pretty well, even when I move it to different spots. I’ve noticed the bass is punchy, but not overwhelming, which is perfect for me since I listen to a lot of different music—everything from rock to podcasts. There is a loss of bass when I turn it all the way up. The 360-degree sound means it doesn't matter where I place it; the audio is always consistent.
Another huge plus is the battery life. I can go days without charging it, and Marshall says it lasts over 30 hours, which feels about right based on my experience. I also like how fast it charges—if I forget to charge it overnight, a quick 20-minute charge gets me through most of my day.
What Could Be Better:
The only downside I’ve run into is the lack of a 3.5mm jack. I have some older devices I would’ve liked to plug in, but everything now is pretty much Bluetooth, so it's not a dealbreaker. Also, there’s no smart assistant integration. It’s not a feature I personally use much, but if you’re someone who loves controlling everything by voice, you might miss that.
What I Had Issues With:
I did have a slight issue with the Bluetooth range once or twice when moving around my home. It usually has a solid connection, but once I went into another room and the connection dropped briefly. That could be more about the layout of my place though.
---
Overall, I’ve really enjoyed having this speaker around. It’s become my go-to for working in the office, cooking in the kitchen, or just hanging out. Perfect if you’re looking for something stylish and portable with great sound quality.

Incredible Sound - Portable and Long Battery Life

Marshall has done it again…. What an incredible sound from a portable speaker. Simple and quick to set up and the sound is amazing. Right out of the box it was fully charged. Pressing the power button I was greeted with a nice chord and the red lights on top indicate how much charge is left. I downloaded the Marshall app and was able to quickly add my speaker. The app is fine, not too many options, basically you will use it to change the EQ settings and check the power level but the red lights on the unit also visually show you how much charge is left. Which I really like, the visual reminder of how much charge is remaining.
Next I opened the bluetooth settings on my iphone 13 pro max and instantly it located the speaker and I was connected. SO basically within a couple of minutes of opening the box I had the app installed and connected to the speaker and my phone connected and was playing music.
The buttons on top are perfectly placed. Using the gold button on top is easy to adjust the volume or advance the song. The sound comes from both the front and back of the peaker providing an immersive 360 degree sound. I have been using it for several hours each day and still have not had to re charge it. It is rated at 32+ hours of play time….. Incredible. It is rated for dust and waterproof so I have no concerns about taking it on the road or poolside or to my sons baseball games. Who doesn't like a nice rich walk up song.
Bonus this also has a built in microphone so when that call comes in and your listening to music it is easy to accept the call and just talk through the speaker. Incredible easy to use and amazing sound.

Great portable Speaker

The Marshall Emberton III comes in a well packaged box with instructions plus an app to download. It connected to my phones Bluetooth easily and immediately started playing good sounding music. I connected it to my Satellite radio app and it sounded good on a variety of stations and music types. It is dust and waterproof and can easily be carried from room to room or to the garage if you are working on projects. It holds 30 some hours on a single charge and charges with a USB-C. It will be ideal to take along on the boat or out into the yard when having dinner parties or doing yard work. The case is around 6x3x3 inches so it is nice size the delivers quality sound. Grilles at the front and rear essentially means that the audio is multidirectional so it really fills the room with great sound. It can also be used as a speaker for your cell phone. This is really a sweet little portable speaker. The one thing that could improve this would be to have a carrying strap like some other Bluetooth Speakers but not a deal breaker since it is quite light to carry.

Big Sound

The Emberton 3 is a stylish mini boom box with the Marshall name across the front, status lights on top with buttons for power and navigation. There is a multi function button that allows volume and track skip or backward- a defintely nice touch. It is a solid device with some weight to it and definitely substantial. It has a connection for a wrist strap, and a USB C charging port on the side. Pairing was very easy and there is an app for sound control and setup. The sound is loud, a bit on the bass positive side but with very full and robust sound. It was surprising how loud and robust the sound was, even outside on the patio on a fairly loud day. I've used other bluetooth boom boxes, but this one had a lot of volume and sounds like it was coming from a much bigger unit. The standard simplistic styling was also nice. Battery life was excellent. It was still going after 6 hours with no end in sight. I really like this mini boom box. I do wish it was not as bassy ( I did try adjusting the sound from the app), but it wasn't bad. I prefer more mid range sound.

Big sound in a small package

This new Marshall Emberton III carries on the Marshall tradition in both appearance and sound. The speaker looks like the Marshall amps of old with the mesh grill on the front and back and Marshall script on the front of the speaker. As for sound it’s amazing how much great sound they can get out of this small of a speaker. Marshall has added some new features to the Emberton III over the previous generation Emberton. The speaker now comes with a dedicated power button located below the Bluetooth button, so you don’t have to press and hold the brass center button the turn on the speaker. They have also added a microphone for taking calls which is a great added feature and works great. Although not required to use the speaker there is the Marshall app that allows you to EQ the speaker. Although very limited it offers 3 preset settings for Marshall sound, push (boosted bass and treble) and voice (boosted midrange). For music I am using the Marshall sound as the other options make music sound too thin. There is also a battery preservation option to help prolong the life of the battery. I am using this in Max mode which limits the amount of charge the battery will receive. The app also shows the status of the battery level. The speaker has a battery level indicator on top of the speaker as well. The battery life has been outstanding. I have been using the speaker for several days several hours a day and still have 64% battery left. Like the Marshall Middleton that I also own the Emberton has speakers on both sides of the enclosure which gives you a more open and detailed listening experience. I have several other more expensive Bluetooth speakers that only have speakers in the front that don’t sound as good as the Emberton thanks to the 2-sided speaker configuration. The Emberton III is lightweight at around 1.5lbs and is the same size width and height wise as my cell phone which makes moving it around easy and convenient. I wanted something smaller than the Middleton without sacrificing sound quality and the Emberton did not disappoint. This speaker sounds great and can certainly get loud if needed. It connected to my phone and Bluetooth turntable easily and once connected it will reconnect the next time you use the device. Two things that were a bit of a disappointment. Marshall opted to use Bluetooth LE (low energy) protocol in this speaker which at this point is not widely adopted and as a result removed the stack feature that came in several of their previous speakers. As a result, the Emberton cannot be paired with other Marshall speakers such as the Middleton. At this point it is not clear that multiple Emberton’s can even be paired. Hopefully Marshall will provide a firmware update that will correct this issue. The other lesser issue is the Emberton has a place to connect a carrying strap although Marshall does not include a strap or offer one as an accessory. This is a little surprising considering the cost of the speaker. Luckily, I found a 3rd party case with a built-in handle that works great and solves the problem. Overall, this is a great looking and great sounding speaker for the price. I think anyone looking for a high-quality great sounding speaker in this price range should definitely consider listening to the Marshall Emberton III, You will not be disappointed.

The Marshall Emberton III Portable Bluetooth Speaker is such a small speaker that emits a massive audio performance which is pleasantly amazing for me. The only control knob has all functionality to enjoy my music using the Marshall Emberton III Portable Bluetooth Speaker. To pair, I pressed and held the Bluetooth button until the device showed up on my screen and tapped Emberton III. After pairing, I received a pop up advertising the Marshall Bluetooth app which allowed me the ability to fine tune the sound output more the my desired specifications. I have the command of three EQ presets: Marshall for fine tuning, Push for boosted bass and treble, and voice for enhanced midrange to produce clarity of vocals.. Battery strength is shown underneath the Marshall - Emberton II picture on the homepage. Once battery preservation is opened, I can control the maximum charge allowed, temperature and charging speed. The battery is prolonged and protected with those functions, increasing the longevity of the Marshall III. The Marshall - Emberton III is small enough to carry outside and enjoy your music with a big sound. I will be taking my Marshall - Emberton III outside on the regular to enjoy my music.

This Marshall speaker can fill a room. The sound quality is great. I use it in my car and in house. The weight is great and built well, feels sturdy. It has an anti slip bottom which is great for when I have it in my car. It’s not overbearing in the car, yet it can really fill a room, so it’s versatile for different needs, different audiences/listeners.
It looks like a little Marshall amp which to me is a cool design. The charge has held up well after many hours of usage. Comes with a strap you can attach so you can avoid dropping it while carrying other things.
A tiny mic is located on the top of the speaker so you can easily enjoy your conversations in your car or on the run hands free.
A red bar appears on top so you easily see how your battery level is. There are no surprises as to when a battery charge is in need. A small circular power button is on top, just press and release and then press the blue tooth button to easily connect to your devices. It was a seamless connection.
The gold button allows for fast forward, rewind, pause/play options.
I would recommend this speaker.

A Compact Powerhouse with Impressive Features

The Marshall Emberton III is a remarkable portable speaker that excels in both design and performance. It looks and sounds amazing, even at near maximum volume, delivering a big sound from a small package. With an impressive battery life of up to 32 hours, it ensures that your music can play all night long. Additionally, a quick 20-minute charge can provide up to 6 hours of playback, making it incredibly convenient for on-the-go use. The speaker's dust and water resistance add to its durability, while its speaker phone capabilities and future-proof features like Bluetooth audio LE and Aura Cast enhance its versatility.
However, the Emberton III does have some drawbacks. The limited EQ options might not satisfy those who like to customize their audio experience, and its bass performance is weaker compared to other similar speakers. Additionally, it is more expensive than some of its competitors, which might be a consideration for budget-conscious buyers. The Aura Cast feature, while promising, is not yet available and will be enabled in the near future with a firmware update.
Overall, the Marshall Emberton III remains an impressive speaker that showcases Marshall's reputation for excellent audio quality. The addition of a microphone and the slightly extended battery life in this year's model are welcome improvements. Despite its higher price and a few limitations, its combination of powerful sound, durability, and advanced features make it a compelling choice for music lovers seeking a high-quality portable speaker.
