As you might expect from Marshall, these headphones are geared toward musicians in a couple of ways. First off the audio quality is excellent. You are getting high quality sound with these headphones without getting any real coloration of the sound (the EQ is fairly flat, there aren’t any over-exaggerated bass hits with these headphones) which makes them excellent for hearing how music was actually recorded. You can also use these wired or over Bluetooth, so you can connect them directly to your computer or audio interface if you are listening to music or recording music. Plus, with 80 hours of battery life, you can probably go for weeks without charging them (I’ve gone for 2 weeks and still have about 50% battery remaining).
Another way you can tell these are geared toward musicians is that the sounds made by the headphones when you turn them on, when they connect over Bluetooth, or when you use the controls, are all guitar sounds or short riffs. It is a really nice touch for a company known for their guitar amplifiers and speaker cabinets.
As for the comfort if you’ll wear them for hours on end, I’d say you’re good. I usually find on-ear headphones a little uncomfortable and very uncomfortable after an hour or so. With these, I can wear them with my glasses (which have heavy side pieces) without issue. There is a little discomfort from having the pressure on the ear after about 4-5 hours, but that could also just be me. These are definitely the most comfortable on-ear headphones I’ve tried.
These are some excellent headphones, and could make a great gift for the music-lover in your life (particularly a guitarist).

The Marshall IV headphones design are by far the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever used. I am usually in pain after using headphones due to the fact that the pressure on my earlobe from wearing glasses and wearing headphones isn’t the best combo, BUT the Marshall is a game changer and I’m quite the happy camper.
The style and pattern of the design is sleek and I love it.
The delicate softness surrounding my ear is remarkable.
I love that this headphone can be used wirelessly as well as plugged in. The included wire allows for you to share your tunes with someone by allowing them to plug one side of the wire into their headset as the other end is plugged into your Marshall IV headset.
The easy to use gold knob on the right side of the headphone is simple to use and reacts rather quickly.
To me base is everything but that’s where I find the Marshall IV falls short.
Connectivity to bluetooth was an issue with some iphones within the household. Some picked up on the Marshall right away while others never could pair up. Lots of troubleshooting went into it but no solution was found.
Got the The Marshall bluetooth app but that wasn’t functional.
The design for storing and folding the headphones is great and protects the ear pieces.
The wireless charging capabilities are an excellent feature but I can’t attest to it since I don’t have a wireless charger.

This review is based solely on the fact the package does not tell you they are on ear headphones. The fit is terrible and so uncomfortable I couldn't wear them long enough to set up and listen to the sound quality
Hello there, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you didn't find the Major IV to be the right fit for you. Did you try the Monitor II ANC? They are an over-ear model that you may find more comfortable.

I was a little worried about the "on-ear" type ear cups being uncomfortable, but man was I wrong. These are the most comfortable headphones I've ever owned (and that is saying something). The sound rivals my $350 Bose phones. I really can't detect a difference. I also love the convenience of being able to charge with a charging pad, or you can use USB-c. No need for another cable / charger. Controls are very simple. No learning curve. The knob is in the perfect spot and works how you would expect. Works great with Google Assistant. I've worn these so much more and for longer than any other headphones due to the great sound, comfort, and super long lasting battery. There's also no chance of one falling out, like what often happened with my Earpods. I've worn them mowing the lawn, shop work with loud heavy machinery, workouts, runs, long walks, flights. I run my office blue tooth through them and wear them for hours on end at the office. The microphone is amazing. Callers say it's better than my phone. You won't catch me without them. One of the best buys out there. I've been a Marshall fan for many years and have very high expectations from anything carrying the Marshall name. The Major IV did not let me down. The quick guitar riff you hear on power up, power down, and bluetooth connect is just another of many cool features of these headphones. Great job again Marshall.
Hi Abigail, thanks for your review. Our apologies for the inconvenience of this. Could you please try the following, to see if this helps resolve the issue with your Major IV?
With the Major IV connected to a charging source, push / hold down the control knob for 10-12 seconds, and then test the headphones to see if they are once again working as they should.

Stopped turning on after 3 days. Worked great the first day.
I am very sorry to hear about your headphones. I would recommend looking into an exchange with Bestbuy or contacting Marshall Headphones concerning warranty. Our headphones have a very low failure-rate so I am very sorry this has happened with you. Please reach out again if we can assist further.

These headphones are great for the price. They are comfortable and the sound quality is excellent. They also look nice.
Thank you for your review, Juan. I am very sorry to hear that you found the headphones unsatisfactory. Certain parts of the headphones are known as wear and tear, such as the ear cushions, which are available for purchase. Most Marshall users really like the quality of their headphones. If your headphones did arrived with any defects, we would recommend requesting an exchange with Best Buy. That being said, Marshall Group really appreciates your input about the quality of their headphones, and their hope is that customers will really enjoy the quality of sound and construction at this price point. The Major IV are the entry level point model of on-ear / over-ear headphones and the intention is to make the best possible headphones at this entry point to help fledgling audiophiles and sound lovers enter the Marshall eco-system. If you are a big fan of Marshall sound, and would like to check out the flagship headphones and experience the best of what Marshall has to offer, I would recommend checking out the Monitor II ANC. Thanks again for your input.

Honestly one of the best looking and sounding on ear headphones you can buy right now. Personally i wear headphones 24/7 and these do start hurting my ears around 3-4 hours which is not a big deal considering a majority of people probably wont have them on much longer than that. I get compliments on them all the time and they feel premium. The battery life last like what seems like a life time however the only downside is they they dont come with a case. Overall love these and if you're on the edge of buying them just do it.

I am not a huge fan of on ear headphones because of the fit and smaller drivers inside. That being said I’ve used previous Marshall products before and they all are great. For the price of $149.99 these sound amazing and the fit is perfect. I actually use these most of the time on the bus because if I have glasses on it fits better then my over the ear ones. The battery life is great as well at 40 hours. These don’t clamp on your head like other on ear models which is great as well. The headphones aren’t as punchy as say beats headphones but they have good detail and the SQ is clear as well.

I really did not expect these head phones to sound this good. Maybe the best headphones I’ve ever had. The sound is very crisp and clear though the entire volume range. The beat part is the bass, the bass is tight and clear. Even at the upper end of the volume range. They are very comfortable for me however if you have a very wide head I think they may be a little stretched. As for the battery life it’s more than adequate. I can’t say if they will last for the hours stated however I had about 50% charge and used them for 4-6 hrs 3days in a row and still don’t feel that they need to be charged.

Very long battery life. No problems connecting to anything with Bluetooth. The sound quality is very good for the price, but some sounds can be a bit shrill. Overall, very good on-ear headphones.

When I say these surprised me I really mean it. I’ve tried headphones 3 times as much and was disappointed including the V moda CF2. These defy logic and have incredible clearity and bass. They have everything I’ve been wanting from a pair of headphones. Comfortable, easy to pair and use. They look good and are very well built from a company that knows how to do sound. I play guitar and like to run a headset and the cable works perfectly with a head unit aux. I can’t believe Bluetooth can sound this good. I would pay double for these no questions asked. If you’re on the fence, just do it.

I bought these as a gift for my daughter and she loves them! The wireless charging is an added bonus to the fantastic sound quality and comfort. Thinking about getting some for myself - they're that cool!

I’ve always sworn I’d never get a set of over ear headphones, complaining that they are too bulky, won’t stay on in the gym or walking around until I got these… LEMME TELL YOU BRUTHER. These are IT. I got the brown. The headphones blend seamlessly into my hair and look spectacular. If these are on I could care less about what anyone around me is speaking of because the sound quality to the untrained ear is like nothing I’ve experienced in my 24 years of life. I’ve always seen the Marshall amps that my musically talented friends use with their guitars and just thought it was some cool music equipment brand. Now that I own one of their products I gotta say, I’m a fan!
I would recommend this to a friend

I have tons of headphones, and earbuds. These are close to the top. These are great for music, but even better if you need to check sound while editing video content or music editing. You'll like them.
Good sound
Good battery life
Fast charging, and also has wireless too.
Compact size too, can go in a bag or backpack with ease.
