Xlnt all around, better (louder) than any earbuds I've tried including over the ear jbl's, which were my fav before this. Holds well, doesn't slip, yet no uncomfortable.

Been on the fence was more of a “accessories” buy but was very surprised by the sound quality I’ve read they where not noise canceling but was surprised at how much sound it actually blocked out.

Best headphones i have used in a while. I have a pair of Beats Pro and a pair of Bose. Bit amazing headphones, but these Marshall headphones have an uncomparable sound to them.

The Marshall Major V headphones offer high end quality sound at a middle of the road price in a small lightweight headset. Naturally, sound quality is often a very subjective matter of personal taste, but to me the sound seems to be every bit as good as headphones and earbuds I own costing twice as much. The bass and percussion you can almost feel while the mid and high frequencies come in crisp and clear, even at lower volumes. I’m guessing that to keep the price down, Marshall chose to leave out Noise Cancellation. Honestly that might be the only negative I can think of with these headphones and only a concern if you need that feature. If that’s a consideration, Marshall does offer noise cancellation in some of their other headphones and earbuds.
Physically, the Marshall Major V headphones feature a kind of retro style borrowed from their well-known guitar amplifiers. Initially from the photos, I was a little worried about the wire fit adjusters, but they seem sturdy and perform well. The headphones are super lightweight and fully collapsible, perfect for stowing away in a travel bag or backpack. The padded ear cushions are very soft and comfortable on the ears, although I do notice some slight ear discomfort in prolonged use from the light clamping pressure common with most on-ear headphones. Personally worth mentioning, I do find the same to be true with almost all headphones and including some earbuds.
To get the most from your Major V headphones, you will need to download an app for your smartphone, namely the highly rated Marshall Bluetooth music app. Through the app you can perform firmware updates, adjust sound with a 5-band equalizer, and customize buttons on the headphones. The equalizer offers 5 presets or you are given the option to create your own preset. I find “mid reduction” best suited for my listening tastes.
The operation of the headphones is quite simple, thanks to a small gold “joystick” that on one axis adusts the volume up and down, and on the other axis change music tracks to previous or next song. Pressing the button in pauses music. A second “M” button on the opposite earcup can be programmed to activate Spotify Tap, switch between two equalizer presets, or activate Voice Assistant. The range of the Bluetooth connection is incredible…I never once experienced any kind of dropout as I moved throughout the entire house and backyard. Even more ncredible is the battery life. I’ve used the headphones off and on for five days and after the initial charge, battery life is still at 96%! I have every reason to believe that 100 hours of listening is certainly believable. Lastly, Marshall includes a semi-coiled extension cord that I plan to use with my bass guitar amp and stereo receiver that don’t have Bluetooth.
Overall, I am quite pleased with the Marshall Major V headphones and where it matters most, the sound quality is right up there with the best. As small and lightweight as they are, they seem rugged enough for everyday use.

Starting with the most important feature, the sound quality. It’s good and crisp but I have heard better. It has very strong bass, and I mean very strong. The mid and highs sound a little hollow. Whether you like the sound quality depends on your taste. If you prioritize very strong bass, these headphones might be for you. If you prioritize a flat EQ sound, maybe not. There is no noise cancelation, but you can’t hear a lot of background noise when you are wearing them. They can get very loud.
As far as fitting, they are extremely comfortable. They weigh so little that you can’t even tell you are wearing them. They fit well over the ears and have plenty of adjustment for different size heads and don’t feel tight. The headphones fold into a rather small space. They don’t come with any kind of case or pouch. This is kind of unfortunate as because of this, they are difficult to travel with.
The fit and finish on them are very good, but they do have the appearance of being on the cheaper side. This is probably because they are less expensive than other headphones in its class.
It has a button that you can program to do different things through the app. There is another button that is omnidirectional which works great for things like power, play/pause, forward/reverse, and phone features. I think this works much better than other headphones where you must press a single button, one, two, or three times to do different things and the layout is very logical so you don’t have to memorize how to do these different functions.
There is an app that you can use to set a few different things. The app is well laid out and works well but is very basic. You can use it to set the EQ, program the programmable button, and change a few settings. While you can change the EQ, it doesn’t have much of an effect so you can’t bring down much of the bass if you want to and the other bands while you can change them, you can’t get them to have a fuller sound. There is a battery preservation setting which will only allow you to charge the device to 90% and have slower charging to protect the battery and allow the headphones to last longer. I always like and appreciate devices that have this kind of setting.
Connecting them to my phone was very easy. I put them into Bluetooth pairing mode and my phone immediately detected them and connected without any problems. I also had the app already installed so after they connected, it immediately brought me to the app which also worked right away. You must enter your email address but don’t have to create any sort of account which is refreshing as most of these types of devices require you to make an account with them to use it. After connecting them to the app for the first time, it required a firmware update. No problems here and it took a few minutes to complete.
Charing them is done through a USB-C connector and took a couple of hours. They claim 100 hours of playback time and I believe it. It has an indicator that tells you they are charging, and when it is finished.
Overall, these are a decent pair of headphones especially if you prioritize very strong bass but less so the other bands. This is just a matter of taste. They are very comfortable, and I love the controls and buttons on them. The lack of a case or pouch is a big miss though, especially if you want to travel with them.
