This Bluetooth speaker from the legendary amplifier company Marshall, has a multi-directional true stereo sound as there is 4 speakers on each side of the device. This speaker is stackable with other Middleton's to create a colossal sound just like their amps. The speaker boasts 20+ hours of portable playtime after a full-charge. It is also designed just like the iconic amp/stacks from Marshall. It is also durable and comes with a carrying strap for easy carrying. This behemoth is also loud and features customizable treble and bass settings. It is also compatible with a Marshall app for your mobile device that allows you to control bass, treble, and stacking options. There is also a 3.5 mm jack on the back of the speaker that allows you to connect to an AUX source for music. You can also use it as a power bank to charge other devices while using the speaker. It seems as if this speaker is capable of putting out 50+ watts of vibrant sound with the unmistakable Marshall crunch and quality. This is one cool and rockin' speaker that will make your music sound great!

A powerful speaker for it's size

Bluetooth speakers are plentiful, but it’s tough to find one that offers sound that really makes it enjoyable to use Poolside or on the go. Marshall appears to have solved this with a small form factor speaker, with a speaker capable of up to 20 hours of playback on a full charge. Better yet, it even allows you to charge your phone or USB device while using the speaker for playback. In the box, you’ll find the Marshall Middleton speaker, a USB C to A charging cable (power adapter isn’t included), and a rubber-like carrying strap. The first thing you’ll likely notice is the weight. It’s a hefty weight for such a small form factor, has a rubber like exterior for a more rugged look & feel, includes a 3.5mm input for external devices that lack bluetooth, a nicely implemented joystick style center button which offers control of power, volume, and for skipping tracks. Powering on the device, and you’re immediately in pairing mode, with the device popping up quickly in the bluetooth settings, identifying as “Middleton.” The device really jumps right into the Marshall branding, with the packaging, the strap having the established year of 1962, and it mirrors the look of a Guitar amp. There are a few buttons on the top of the device, which are identified by the stamping on the rubber exterior. There is a button to set the Bass & Treble levels, a battery button to check the charge, and a bluetooth button you can hold down to start pairing another device. I should note, this speaker is designed to pair up with another Marshall speaker, in case you purchased two of them. It also plays really neat guitar riffs to confirm pairing and connection to your device. My speaker arrived with about a 60% battery level, and does allow you to charge at the same time you’re using it. The level indicator will show you the charge level, and will also confirm the volume level. For such a small speaker I was absolutely blown away by the sound. It’s clear, the Bass at mid volume really bumps clearly, and has a 360 degree like speaker array allowing you to hear the sound clearly from just about any angle. The build quality of the speaker seems solid, and the rubberized exterior does a great job repelling water. The included strap loops into a spot on the top-right side of the speaker and is secured using the included screw. Overall, this speaker has impressed me with the full stereo sound, and having the ability to charge my iPhone using a USB C to Lighting cable worked flawlessly, while only discharging the battery by maybe an hour or so of playback. The ease of setup and sound adjustment from the device directly make this an easy recommendation.

Performance just doesn't match the price tag.

First off, this isn't a bad speaker by any means. It has some good features and the build quality is nice. If you are familiar with other Marshall speakers, then you know they always make a quality looking speaker with that retro amp look to them. They are definitely eye catchers for the older crowd. This Middleton is a medium sized portable speaker, meaning it does have an internal battery that can be recharged. A red battery indicator on top will let you easily see the battery life as the speaker is being used. There is an included carrying strap in the box that you can attach , but the plastic screw it is held on by might make it a little iffy to hang the speaker by, particularly if it is being moved around. This speaker, much like the Emberton II, features active drivers on both the front and back of the cabinet. I'm not a big fan of this design, but it will give you equal sound both front and back if you place it say in the middle of a room. Sound quality is pretty solid, with bass and treble adjustments on the speaker, or via the app. The app is very bare bones, which is a bit of a disappointment. The real issue with this speaker is price. For what you get, it's just really hard to justify the price tag. It doesn't really do anything great, with only decent bass capability and it doesn't get as loud as you might expect, partly because you never get the full power of the speaker in your direction. The bass does thin out and treble gets brighter when you turn it up to it's louder levels. So this speaker might appeal more to the older crowd that has enough money that the price on the Middleton really doesn't deter them.

    Fine Speaker, Bad App

Pros: - Loud, well-balanced sound - Iconic design - Sturdy, well built - Bluetooth 5.1 - Controls onboard for volume, treble, bass - Long-lasting battery Cons: - Expensive - Somewhat heavy - App is unusable Two of those cons are simply compromises one knowingly makes when buying this speaker. But the last negative I could not have foreseen. Zound Industries, the company that makes these speakers, eventually acknowledged that there was a firmware issue preventing the app from working as it should. Regrettably I returned the speaker.

Exceptional sound quality used it on the river in the kayaks has been dropped in the water and is definitely water resistant! Love the handle makes it easy to carry around and strap to something so It doesn’t fall off. Use it all the time and rarely have to charge it.

Solid but very basic portable loudspeaker

I have been wanting to try one of these Marshall portable loudspeakers for a while, simply because of the Marshall aesthetic: It is very cool using what looks like a miniature Marshall amp/speaker. It turns out that the Marshall aesthetic is the best thing about the Middleton portable loudspeaker. The sound is fine enough, clear and pleasing. Apparently one channel is directed out the back and the other out the front (with woofers on the side), which seems odd to me. What if a real Marshall amp projected out the back as well as the front? Nonetheless, the sound quality was excellent. I cranked up some rock tunes and some quieter ballads and they all sounded great with proper adjustment of treble and bass. One thing that struck me about the Middleton is that its features are so basic. The "equalizer" in the Marshall Bluetooth app has only a treble and bass control instead of sliders across the frequency range. And that's about all the app does beyond the usual and expected stop, play, track forward or back and volume, unless you have more than one Marshall, allowing you to "stack" devices. There are links to digital versions of the quick guide and user manual, which are about the same because there are not many features to explain. The main physical control on top of the speaker is a button that you push and hold for two seconds to turn the unit on or off, push briefly to play or pause, toggle left or right to skip back or forward one track, or toggle up or down to increase or decrease volume. With the same button doing so many things, I sometimes found myself accidentally toggling when I meant to push or vice versa, so you must pay attention to how you are handling this control. To the right of the button are separate toggles for adjusting bass and treble up or down. To the left of the button is an indicator that shows the level of volume, bass, or treble as you are making those adjustments. To the left of that is a small button for checking the battery level (which shows up on the indicator) and a small button for making Bluetooth connections. The Bluetooth setup was very simple and straightforward. Again, everything is very basic. All of these controls on top of the unit are labeled in small letters that are the same color as the speaker skin (see photo), so they are impossible to read in dim light. But there are not many controls and labels to learn, so it doesn't take long to memorize the locations and functions and control the unit by feel. When I first lifted the Marshall Middleton out of the box, I found that it was even heavier than I expected. My first thought was that I hoped they included something to help carry it securely. As it turned out, they included a removable strap for carrying the unit around, an excellent idea for securing the portable speaker. I like that they included a 1/8" auxiliary jack in the back for wired input. Interestingly, you apparently can use the unit as a charging brick by connecting a device to it through the USB C port in the back (that also serves as an input to charge the unit). I am not sure how efficient this would be, as the charge level on the unit dropped more quickly than I expected. The unit is supposed to last 20 hours on one charge, but I found that it had dropped to 80% after only an hour of light use. In summary, I think that this portable speaker is a good, solid, no-frills choice, and it definitely looks very cool with the Marshall logo. If you are willing to pay for mostly the Marshall label, I would definitely recommend this portable speaker.

I love this speaker so much that I bought two more of them. Easy to link together, although I wish I could choose a new name for them so I know which is which on my Bluetooth list. The app is a little frustrating to use for the same reason and I've mostly given up on using it. Battery life is great, multi-directional sound rocks, and I am very happy with my speakers.

Pros: Sounds great for its size. Lots of mid bass. Very portable. Great battery life. Cons: Like it so much I bought a second one. When in stack mode, I felt like they didn’t sound nearly as good. I stacked them and also sat them side by side with about 3 feet apart. The bass seemed to overwhelm the rest of the sound when either stacked or side by side, even with the bass set to one. Anyway I highly recommend buying one as long as you understand the limitation. In other words you not going fill a medium to large backyard with one. For that you need a Marshall Woburn III or JBL PartyBox 310…I know, I have both :).

The Michael Middleton portable speaker is an impressive choice for anyone seeking good quality sound on the go. The build quality feels solid, and the design is sleek and modern. What stands out the most is the base sound—it’s deep, rich, and offers a satisfying depth without being overwhelming. Whether you’re listening to music indoors or outdoors, the audio remains clear and punchy. The battery life is solid, lasting for hours of playback, and it’s easy to connect to your devices. For the price, it delivers great value, offering a combination of sound quality, portability, and reliability. Definitely worth the investment if you’re looking for an affordable yet high-performing portable speaker.

I see a lot of reviews with questions about Emberton vs Middleton. I have both and they are both excellent in their own right! The Middleton has superior sound and bass, as it should. But in my opinion, these two speakers have different uses. The Emberton is very small and portable while the Middleton is much larger. Still portable, but not somethingbid throw into a suitcase before a flight. The Middleton is a great speaker stellar sound and intuitive controls. And the bluetooth works very well.

This is my first Marshall speaker. Had bought an emberton for my dad once, and he was satisfied. But this for the Middleton has a rich, deep bass for a speaker of its size. The 360 speaker design really fills rhe room. I lost my OG LG Megaboom. Needed a portable speaker with an AUX cable. And not to mention the speaker looks fantastic. Highly recommend this product.

It’s a very nice speaker, loud but not distorted, not big enough to be an inconvenience when moving around, and really good battery life compared to other speakers, I can have it at full volume for 4-5 hours before dead and I’d say about 10 hours at half volume

This is the best portables speaker I own out of three other ones! The sound quality is very crisp and clear. It's almost like you're at a concert if you are playing this at half volume in a room. Speaking of volume, the volume on this thing is insane. I can have this speaker at 75% of its max volume, in my room, and I could hear the music clearly throughout my two story house. As for battery life, this thing can last up to 20 hours per charge, which I think is overkill. Just charge it over night and it's ready for the day. Great for parties too!
