These Marshall Monitor Headphones are my seventh pair of headphones. My collection is comprised of a variety of types and styles, with some that I only use when working on the lawn, others when travelling, and others still just for relaxing. My normal go-to on-ear headphones weren’t holding a full charge any longer, so I was looking forward to getting these headphones as replacements. The headphones came with a full charge, so I was able to immediately pair it to my Pixel 3XL. Pairing was easy: just hold the Rocker-style Function Button down for 5 seconds and it goes into pairing mode. It was only after the headphones were paired and I had a chance to play that I realized how challenged I would be using the its Function Button. The button has many uses, but is primarily used to increase and decrease volume, to skip forward and backwards, to pause and resume, and is used for all phone-related functions. You also use it to turn the headphones on and off, as well as to pair. Personally, I’m finding the Function Button challenging to use. I’ve been inadvertently skipping songs when trying to increase or decrease the volume, or increasing or decreasing the volume when trying to skip songs. It shouldn’t be that difficult to use, although I’m sure I’ll get past this after some practice. I’ve never had to practice using headphone controls before, so this is new to me. These are an Over-The-Ear model, and I find the fit to be fairly tight. It’s not too uncomfortable though, and I’m expecting the tightness to lessen over time. I tested the headphones using Google Play Music and Audible. The sound range when playing music was outstanding. The highs were crisp and clear, and the bass wasn’t overpowering. It was a great blend of highs, mid-range, and lows. I listen to different music genres and all sounded quite excellent! If I had to find something to complain about, it wouldn’t be the quality of materials, sound or fit. It would be the Function Button. I know, I know. I’ll get used to it. The battery life on these headphones is incredible. Marshall claims that it should get up to 30 hours of use before needing to be recharged. Well, I’ve been listening to music, playing audiobooks, testing phone calls and the like for hours, and I’ll be darned if they aren’t still reporting 100% battery. They are heavier than any of my other headphones, and I suspect that’s due to all the on-board battery. Still, the extra weight hasn’t been a problem even after extended use. A projected battery-life of 30-hours absolutely blows me away. I haven’t had them long enough to know if 30 hours is accurate or not, but even 20 hours would be outstanding. Using the headphones for phone calls was very easy. One push of the Function Button to answer the call; one push to hang up. The call quality on both ends has been very good, although I didn’t test it out in a noisy environment. Keep in mind that these are not noise cancelling so don’t expect to be fully isolated from outside noises. Included with the headphones are a carrying bag, a 3.5mm connector cable, and a USB charging cable (does not include a charger). I’m quite happy with these headphones. Sound quality is top-notch, battery capacity is also top-notch, the materials used in construction are solid and attractive, and Bluetooth connectivity has been flawless. I think these are worth every penny.

Started out with very creative packaging. Led to a well designed and substantial feeling headphone. Felt solid and well designed without excessive weight. It is not a bright fancy headphone, but looks good and classic. Pairing was easily accomplished although it did cause another bluetooth item on my list to unpair. That too was fixed by pairing the item again. Sound was good. I like midrange and it handled that effortlessly. Very clear. My friend said it could do with more bass but I disagree. All in all, a great experience with this Marshall product.

I am very impressed by these headphones! The box was simple to open but the headphones themselves were almost too snugly placed in the inner packaging that I was afraid I was going to break them taking them out. Set up was very easy. They connected effortlessly. I do recommend giving them a full charge before using out of the box. When I first used them the sound was terrible and I was going to give them a bad review. After a full charge they sounded phenomenal. The headset fit snugly on my head but wasn't uncomfortable. They did feel a bit stiff but they felt sturdy while moving around with them on. I typically like to adjust the bass and treble on my headphones but these do not offer that feature. They are so well balanced though that it didn't matter. The sound quality is so crisp and clear while listening to every genre of music. They feel like premium quality materials were used to build them. They fold up quite small and fit perfectly into the provided travel bag. Also included in the box was a charging cable and an AUX cable to directly plug the headphones into a jack. Its made with gold jacks which you don't see very often anymore but gives the best sound. I highly recommend!

The Marshall wireless headphones have a pinch of nostalgia masked as a cover for some high end sounding headphones. It pays homage to the classic design of their line of famous amplifiers and recording equipment. Personally I have never seen their products on the market before getting these. I was very impressed with their design at first glance. I love the leather looking design and exposed wiring, giving it a studio look in a wireless platform. The Bluetooth states they will work at a distance of 30 feet, which is quite a bit. I have tested them and they will go further than that if you have line of sight with the source. I did this connected to my iPhone XR. A little past 40-45 feet I started getting a little crackling, but not too much. Point is 30 was a modest understated estimate and it will go further than that. The sound rivals the likes of Bose and Beats. All the levels of sound are great, at least to me. I am not one that can sit there and tell you the slightest of differences, but if the music sounds good then it’s good. If it sounds superior, then it’s superior. These are superior for sure. The one thing they are missing is the noise cancellation feature Bose and Beats both have. I really like and prefer that. Since these cover your ears, you get some blocking of ambient noise, but not as much as the others. They don’t claim to do this feature, I am just saying that’s a nice feature they don’t have. These are a sharp pair of headphones. I really like the look, feel and function of them. They are different than others on the market and that was one of the draws for me. If you were to get them, you will be happy for sure. They feel substantial and I love the fact you can fold them up and they travel well. Pull the trigger on these, you will love them.

Marshall Monitor bluetooth headphones. These headphones have much to recommend them. They are very comfortable, and that’s the most important aspect of any headphone for me, especially over-the-ear headphones like these. You expect to have them on your head for lengthy periods of time, and the idea is to have them be so comfortable that you don’t notice they’re there. These headphones fit that description very well. The earpads are about as soft as I’ve ever experienced on a pair of headphones. They sit comfortably around the ears and are barely noticeable on your head. The sound quality is excellent. Setup is easy. The headphones require an initial charge of the battery, which can take up to two hours according to the included manual, but my pair was fully charged after about an hour. A full charge yields eight hours of playback at medium volume. A USB-C cable is included for charging. Then it’s a simple matter to pair the headphones with your bluetooth-capable output device (I used my LG phone), and you’re off and running. I tried both Youtube and satellite radio as my audio sources, and all sounded great through the headphones. These headphones also have a standard mini-audio jack and come with an audio cable for a wired connection to your audio source, and I have to say that it’s one of the nicest audio cables I’ve ever used. It’s coiled at one end like an old-style telephone cord, so it stays neatly untangled yet permits good freedom of movement. Another unusual feature of these headphones is that the earpieces can be folded into the arched part to make them very compact for storage. It’s a minor thing but a nice touch nonetheless. Highly recommended.

I've always heard of Marshall and their music equipment prowess, I was excited to get the chance to try these for review. Got them in the mail around 8 March and couldn't wait. The packaging is so compact, I thought I got some wireless ear buds by mistake. But they were full up over the ear headphones. Initial impressions were really good. The headphones fold up really compact, the materials are top notch and seem they'll hold up for a while. The design of the headphones is really elegant. Black with white Marshall branding on the earcups and gold touches here and there even on the accessories screams premium. For a $250 asking price they better feel premium and they do! They sound really good as well. I'm not a audiophile but I enjoy good, clear, crisp audio with the right amount of bass and these delivered. But the most impressive feature is the battery life. The box touts 30 days of life and I can believe it. I don't wear them every day, but when I do it's for hours on end and battery life is still at 100% after about 10 days. I couldn't ask for more except Noise Cancellation but still good. These have replaced a pair of Skull Candy's and Sony wired studio headphones. Good job Marshall!

I've been using the new Marshall Monitor Bluetooth headphones for the past couple of weeks. Marshall is stepping up it's game on the high end headphone market by continuing to add features to their headphone line. There are several improvements over the current Monitor headphone that make these worth a look. First of all... bluetooth! With everything moving to bluetooth adding this connectivity capability is a huge plus. Using Qualcomm aptX technology the sound is improved by compressing the signal even more for a hi-res stream without losing quality of the sound. In bluetooth mode you should be able to be un-tethered up to about 30 feet without loss of signal. If you prefer to hard connect a 6 foot long 3.5mm coiled cable comes with the headphones. A cool feature is the ability to listen wirelessly and a friend can plug their headphones into the 3.5mm jack on the right earcup and listen along... sweet! Second feature I like is the control joystick on the left earcup. The single button/joystick controls power, bluetooth pairing, volume up and down, forward and back and pause and play functions when connected to a smartphone. It took a little bit for me to develop the muscle memory to effectively use the controls. Mileage may very. The sound is fantastic. Rich tones, but you would expect that on a higher end headphone. While these headphones don't have active noise canceling they do provide some noise isolation. They would be perfect if they would have active noise cancelling. I have yet to find a Marshall equalizer app that works with the Monitor but most music apps have their own. I would have expected Marshall to have something to get the most out of their headphones but it's not a major drawback and there are other apps that can do the job. Now to comfort... the foam in the on the ear cups is soft and the thin cover is supple however I found the tension of the metal strap to be a bit on the stiff side so wearing these for an extended period of time is a bit uncomfortable. I ended up bending the strap a little bit to take some of the tension off. The metal strap is covered with the same foam and cover of the same material as the earcups. They say these are over the ear but my ears are slightly larger so they end up resting partially on my ears making prolonged wearing a bit uncomfortable. I find myself gravitating more to studio type headphones but these Marshall headphones are comfortable enough that I could probably wear them for a couple of albums worth of music without a problem. Battery life is great. You should get around 30 hours of play time on a charge and with the supplied USB charging cable you should be able to power it back up quickly. The headphones look fantastic with the gold trim and a black simulated leather cover on the cups and the white Marshall branding displayed. The headphones come with a 3 foot long USB charging cable along with the partially coiled 6 foot long 3.5mm audio cable and a nice carrying bag. All in all these are a great addition for music lovers. Price is on par with comparable manufacturer units so there isn't much to not love.

MONITOR bluetooth headphones are another well designed product from Marshall that provides high quality audio. If you are a bass lover but want treble and bass boosted in a balanced way, these are the headphones for you. They have excellent battery life. The specification says 30 hours but it really depends on the use and volume level. I have been using mine for 2 weeks without a recharge and the battery is still at 30%. The other thing that I like about these headsets is the controller that controls volume, calls, tracks etc. There is one single button to control everything. You just move it in different directions to do different things. It takes a little getting used to but is definitely much better than having multiple buttons. The headsets come with charging cable, an audio cable for wired listening and a bag to keep them all together. The audio cable also has inline mic which I find slightly better than the wireless mic. I wish that the inline mic had volume controls as well. The only thing that I don't like too much about them is the size of ear cups. They are a little small for me as a result they become uncomfortable after an extended period of time (around an hour). Overall, these are good headsets for the price. There are cheaper options available but they don't match with the audio quality provided by these ones.

Many customer have issues putting the Monitor Bluetooth headphones into pairing Mode. Unfortunately the manual isn't super clear on how to do this.

To put the headphones into pairing mode: start with the headphones powered off, push in the gold button and hold it continuously. The LED light will first come on and flash white - keep holding! The LED light will eventually cycle through to Blue which means the headphones are in pairing mode and they will now be visible in your music source device.

Let us know if there are any further questions.

These headphones are called over the ear but I find them barely over ear headphones. The other issue is why is it using micro usb to charge in 2019? The build is also suspect but better then beats so we shall see how long they last. Sound is subjective and I find them to have good detail but they sound kind of boring. Lacks bass but I guess if you don’t like bass these are for you.

Hello. We're sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the Monitor Bluetooth headphones but appreciate your valuable feedback. If you find the fit over the ears is a bit too tight, it is possible to stretch the headband to create a looser fit. Contact the Marshall Support Team at [email protected] for information on how to do so.

The Marshal monitor headphones are built to a new standard in terms of build quality, but the sound has something to be desired. The build quality on the headphones, is surpurb. They’re constructed of metal, vynal and good quality cables. A very nice feature, one that seems to be an ongoing issue with many headphones - the ear pieces are removable magnetically. There is also a metal joystick, which controls the volume and track skip - located on the lower left ear. This makes for convenient control. The sound, in my opion, is very disappointing. When listening to anything other than rock or heavy metal, the sound is not very good. It’s very high-pitched and doesn’t sound right. There is a good amount of bass in the headphones, but the vocals are way too sharp. Overall, the Marshall Monitor headphones are a good set, if you listen to mostly rock. If you listen to other genres, these might not be the right sound for you. They are among one of the better built heaphones I am yet to see, but sadly the sound kills it for me.

The quality of these headphones is as expected from the Marshall brand. The build quality is solid and very nicely designed. The head pads are a little small for me, as I have bigger ears, so if you aren’t able to try these ahead of time, you may also find the cups could be a little larger. I did experience some discomfort after wearing them for 30 minutes no matter how I adjusted the head band. If you have a bit smallish to medium ears you will be delighted with how soft the ear padding is and it does block out some of the ambient noise around you. I did see some folks have trouble with Bluetooth pairing. I did also misfire on my first try and I think it is due to not reading the manual which is clearly showing you how to do it. The design could be a little more clever but basically you turn the phones off and on with the same button and you have a very nice LED to tell you what is happening. For pairing: you must start with the phones “off”. Now hold the power button until you see the LED turn blue. You’ll see the LED blink white but keep holding for the full 5 seconds (holding for 3 seconds just turns it on); keep holding a couple more seconds till you see the LED turn blue, now pair it and it actually turns off. Remember it is paired but “off” so if you try to listen you hear nothing, I bet that’s what some people did. You need to turn it back on. It’s a tradeoff, one button, one LED – many functions. I actually like the simplicity of the design. The sound is smooth and lots of bass and very clear. I was quite happy with the ability to hear highs, lows and midrange sounds. So high marks here. Yes it has a very nice microphone and yes you can use these phones to answer calls. Be sure to look at the nice manual that comes with it and understand how to answer a call and hang-up. That same button that I love, handles pausing songs and increasing and decreasing the volume. I have to applaud the engineers at Marshall for making it a simple joystick – great. I did especially like the materials used in construction of these phones - classy and strong. So I do recommend these headphones, and I can’t deduct a star because I have big ears, so try them on and if the fit is good, you’ll have a superior headphone.

    Well balanced sound

First thing to note is that I have only had these for 24hrs so I cannot attest to the claim of 30 hours battery or validate any reliability/connecting claims made by others. Second thing to note is that these are NOT noise canceling. There is no ANC microphone nor circuitry processing and canceling the sounds around you. That being said, out of the box, these are very well balanced headphones and deserve 5-stars out of the gate. Given Marshall chooses to use the audio term "monitors" over headphones suggests that they have worked on perfecting low-mid-hi balance over being bass forward like many consumer products in this price range. ***Design*** Simple. Rigid. Unboxing them I was worried the fit would be too tight either in the ears or across the head (as a bald guy, a tight fit leads to rubbing against skin that can get uncomfortable very quickly). Yes, they are snug from ear to ear which is good. Since there is no noise canceling you want the (comfortable) foam pads to wear tight to the ear to reduce ambient sound. At the office, cranked about 55% I cannot hear normal office sounds around me. The cups do not fold backwards (DJ style) but they do collapse into each other for storage. The cross bar over the head is well padded, soft and comfortable. The cans do not look ridiculous when worn. I would have preferred "touchpad" ear controls over the "joystick nub" however without looking at the manual it is easy to figure out how to control music functions (volume up/down, skip, pause, etc.). My problem with the nub is lack of control over the push. Hard to know if I am pushing up vs. left. Some functions require a "press in" which is more than a "nudge." Again, it will just take some getting used to. (Minus a half-star.) ***Pairing*** Should be easy. Was easy...on the 3rd try. They seem to stay paired. No drop outs but I have also stayed within 5 feed to my device. I did a walk-away test which was average. I have had better distance with other headphones but I have no intention of being more than 10' from my paired device. Things stayed very solid under 25' feet with cinder block walls. There is no NFC pairing with these headphones. To pair you must start from OFF, then depress and hold the nub for 5 seconds until you hear the ON sound THEN CONTINUE HOLDING FOR ANOTHER 3-5 SECONDS until you hear the pairing sound. ***App*** I successfully installed the (not required) Marshall EQ app for Android but it is crashing on my phone. Who knows why. Fortunately I have other apps to tweak EQ while streaming via Google Music. ***Music Sound Quality*** (very subjective) This is why you pay more than $20 for headphones: You want quality sound. As mentioned, out of the box these are well balanced and NOT bass forward in my opinion. My test playlist consists of Google Music streamed Metallica, Macklemore, AWOLNATION, Chainsmokers, twenty-one pilots, Pearl Jam, Jimi Hendrix and a few random pop 80s cuts...plus DJ Magic Mike Feel the Bass. At louder volumes (50% or greater--btw, these cans can get very loud) they seem to get brighter across all genres mentioned above. At lower volumes the hi-mid-low is very well balanced and still crisp enough--not muddy by any stretch, but a little less bright. Some of this has to do with the quality of the recording and stream though. An EQ with a loudness or "spatial" feature can brighten up the music at lower volumes. The bass in "Feel the Bass" does not drop as well as some other bass forward headphones out of the box. Fortunately, a little EQ and bass boost brings that depth forward very nicely and clearly without being overbearing. Bass stays tight and reverberates in hip-hop and modern alt-rock tracks like twenty-one pilots and AWOLNATION. Classic rock and grunge rock bass has nice pop. Mids/vocals are tight. Tweak the EQ if you want vocal forward audio. Highs are tight and crisp. No tin sounds or painful screeching...unless the song was designed that way. ***Phone Call Quality*** Not great. Callers immediately asked if I was in a closet or bathroom. I knew exactly what they were talking about because they sounded like they were in a closet or bathroom. Audio was very hollow. Initial call volume was low for both parties. I was asked to speak up and I had to tweak both the volume on the phone AND on the headset which was frustrating given I keep my media/call/ringtone volumes balanced on the phone and had been happy with the music volume prior to making a phone call. Vocals were "clear" (again, not super loud and they had the closet echo to them...but they were clear). The microphone on the cans, however, was picking up a lot of ambient noise. I could hear myself through the cans while talking, rubbing my hands, moving things on my desk, etc. So could the party at the other end. ***In The Box*** - Headphones - Decent quality bag - 3.5mm cable - USB A male to USB micro B mail charging cable - User manual ***OVERALL*** Again, great out-of-the-box balanced sound and volume. Easily tweaked via a 3rd-party EQ (or the Marshall EQ app if it works for you) to bump forward the bass or add brightness at lower volumes. Very comfortable and snug--might be too snug for some folks. Great battery life according to the box. I am not a fan of the "nub" control and was bummed by the quality when used for calls. The MSRP is a bit more in line with competitor's noise canceling cans. If all you expect is good quality sound to customize to your preferred listening style, the Marshall Monitor bluetooth cans a solid, must consider especially if you can score them on sale.

My first impression out of the box was "wow" these are sleek and light weight for monitors! Setting up the connection was simple, and they charged fairly quick.
