Great sound, super comfortable!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a small head and finally found over ear headphones that fit my head perfectly! The cups are super cush feel great after hours of listening. Fantastic material, the case feels super luxurious. A little hard to justify traveling with them because of the case can get pretty bulky and heavy. But overall very happy with this purchase!

Insane in-the-room sound quality
|Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned headphones that cost 10 dollars all the way up to 1200, and these are easily the most crisp, clear, highest quality sound I've experienced. It really is like I'm in the room with the band.

Great tech, great sound, and super comfortable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Marshall’s latest update to the Monitor headset is a great refinement on a great series. While the previous series boasted great battery life, great sound quality, in a portable and quality design, Marshall has appeared to improve on each of those points incrementally. First of all, I didn’t have the Monitor II, but I did have the original monitor. A couple things stand out between the two that need to be addressed. First of all, you’re giving up the 3.5mm phono jack and out of the box wired connectivity. However, if you check the specs (and the bottom of the box), you do get wired connectivity via the USB-C port’s capability to do analog audio over the cable. That cable is hiding in the bottom of the box and is a nice inclusion. However most of the time you’ll want to use the wireless. The included case is quite nice, with a soft red interior and a pouch to keep the cables. It’s about as small as it possibly could be. The fact that you can fit a pair of over the ear headphones into a case this small is insane. My only critique of it would be that it’s oddly shaped due to how the headphones fold in. Physical design of these cans is quite nice. The padding is quite comfortable in the ear pads, and the head clamping force was even and not overwhelming. I felt good wearing these hours on end. The hinges are made from metal and feel solid. The headband has a TPU liner that I know exactly what it’s for. My original Monitor recently started having their bonded leatherlike material start to flake away. This is oils and other things absorbing into the headband material and causing it to delaminate. This flexible rubber like band keeps that material safe and hopefully from flaking off 5 years into its life. The earcups are a classic Marshall design, and feel quite durable. The brass Marshall logo is iconic and looks really nice. The right earcup has the brass control button, which can be depressed to turn on the headset, pressed quickly for play/pause, and control track with left/right and volume with up/down. There are two other hidden buttons where the headband connects to the housing of the earcups. These buttons are customizable in the app, and are pretty nifty places to hide buttons. An aside on the bluetooth is 5.3. You get great optimizations on power consumption, range, and stability of connection. In my usage, Marshall’s implementation in this case seems on point. Battery life promises up to 70 hours, but realistically if you’re using this during your work day, you should get a week between charges. Range was excellent as well, able to cover my entire house easily without experiencing any drops. The Marshall app does a great job. I have had funky apps for headphones in the past, but the execution from Marshall is flawless. There’s a lot in here that lets you adjust the sound to your personal tastes. The first major setting is the noise control which lets you turn on active noise cancelation (ANC), or enable transparency mode. You get a 3 setting slider to adjust either effects power as well. ANC did a good, but not great job of blocking out outside noise. WIth over the ear headphones you have limits based on the pads. That said, they do a great job with normal noise blockage. Transparency mode is quite nice, and let me easily switch into listening to my TV then swap back to music with ANC. If I’m cleaning the house, it’s nice to be able to hear the kids, which transparency mode enables. Further in the app is the equalizer, which provides 5 bands of adjustments. There are preset ones, and the first ‘slot’ (which can be swapped using the button if you so choose) is always ‘Marshall’ sound. I setup a custom equalizer with a power V curve and it definitely let these shine. The implementation didn’t cause any clipping or any negative audio effects. Beyond that, the app also exposes other features, like button customizations, Spotify Tap (auto launch spotify and play, but I don’t have spotify, so I can’t comment on this). Enabling auto play (taking the headphones off your head stops the music, and putting them on causes music to play), battery preservation settings (charging speed, limiting how much charge, and temperature aware charging), and timeout. The other big setting to talk about is soundstage, which simulates a wider soundstage with room size and effect amount. Overall I found this setting makes very little difference, but it does have a subtle effect. Now, of course, sound wise, what do you expect? It’s Marshall, and they definitely have a warm flavor to them. This is definitely not a reference headphone - as the sound is already following a decent v curve. Bass is emphasized, but not muddy. I overall loved the out of the box and even my exaggerated custom curve. Volume can go all the way up with minimal distortion and they definitely get loud enough to be uncomfortable. The bass has presence, and the mids are distinct. Highs are crisp, and overall I feel like most people would be impressed by the quality, as was I. Overall the excellent build quality, battery life, and just wonderful audio quality make these a great product. The price is a bit higher than I would have preferred, but compared to other products in its price category, they’re very strong. Coupled with a great app, with great features, this is a winning headset.

Really good build, great sound, cool looks.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To briefly sum things up, I really like these headphones. Full stop. They more or less deliver in every way. The build is fantastic. Nice choice in materials, and everything feels both well built and solid. They just have a nice feel in the hands, not big and clunky, but substantial. Still, at a nice weight. Beyond that, they fold up well, and I really like their use of buttons. Placed well, placed uniquely, responsive and easy. The inclusion of the (very useful) control knob is just another nice add. Lastly, this all continues with the carrying case. Compact, solid, efficient, soft-lined. Given a lot of companies are either omitting or failing here, this is nice to see. As for looks? I think they look great. Consistent with the rest of offerings, and honestly, a little different than what most other companies are doing. Black. Clean. Nice accents. (Mostly) simple. Admittedly, the textured leather-like look is not something I would normally like (large logos either), but this is done very well, and, well, I do. Once on, they are very comfortable. The headband is soft and comfy and has just the right amount of “tightness,” and the earcups are the same. They fit my ears perfectly and are both soft and comfortable. They formed a nice seal, and I had no issues wearing them for extended periods. All while not really getting hot and sweaty. All in all, I think they have done a wonderful job on the hardware front. Setup was a breeze, and the Marshall app is helpful, intuitive and easy to use. I liked how these cans sounded out of the box, but I always think it is worth the time to dig into the settings and dial the sound in more to your liking. No exception here. You are given a nice level of control, be it sound tweaks (presets or custom), ANC, battery/charge control, etc… I really like the sound. I hit these with just about everything I listen to, which is just about everything except metal and country. Also, many podcasts. Plenty of low end, nice mids, and they handled the highs very well. All at all volume levels. The vocals were clean and distinct. I came away pretty impressed. Beyond that, I found the ANC to be quite effective. Perhaps a little better than the transparency mode. To be fair, I have never really been someone to use transparency, so take that for what you will, but I think while their ANC is on par in the space, their transparency may be a tick behind. Battery wise I could not ask for more. Rated for what seems to me a crazy 100 hours (70 with ANC), I have found that to be about right. It is going to take more time to see how that plays out over an extended period, but I don’t see this being an issue at all going forward. Charges are quick (when wanted) and as I briefly mentioned above, the ability to alter charging speeds for battery preservation is a real quality add. Especially for a product that will be heavily used and has a finite life. In the end, these are really nice pair of headphones, and I really like them. They are well-built, perform well, are comfortable, and have some real nice quality of life features (great and unique buttons, extended battery life, battery saving among them). They also just look great, differently so. There really aren’t a lot of cans that have their looks. For all of this, the value is there for me here, and I think it would be for most people as well.

Great features and comfort! App needs work...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These Monitor III headphones from Marshall sound great but take some getting used to. I had been using some JBL headphones that I thought sounded great, so when I first put these on, I was underwhelmed. I went back and forth between the two and tweeked the equalizer settings a lot. After getting used to the Marshall headphones, what I thought sounded rich and full on the JBL, was in fact more muddled. The Marshall's have much more clarity to them and now I prefer them more. Hopefully Marshall will update the app, as it's pretty disappointing. The equalizer only has 5 bands to adjust and very few presets. They are best for music, not tv. There are no movie modes or voice boost modes. I do really like the design of these headphones. The materials and textures are quite nice. The ear cups are so soft. They are a bit slimmer than others and extremely comfortable! (also very lightweight) The control knob is a great way to control the headphones, very easy to learn and use. I can't speak to battery life yet as they haven't needed charging yet but 80 hours is pretty outstanding. Having a case for travel is nice but I would also like a stand for them to live on at home, I'll have to look for one. After some break in time, these are some great headphones.

Great Noise Cancelling Headphones!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Marshall - Monitor III A.N.C. Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Headphones are a great set of headphones. I am thoroughly enjoying them with every use. I've tested these out and have the following observations: - In the box, you get the headphones, a USB-C Charging cable, a USB-C to 3.5mm audio cord, a Quick Start Guide and a Hardcase. - The Monitor III's are a nice looking set of headphones, black with gold logos and control knob. They are very lightweight, but also feel solid and well-made. - The Hardcase is very nice. It has a hard outer shell with a velvet lining and pocket for the cords. The headphones fold up very small to fit in the case. It is one of the smallest cases I've seen for over-the-ear headphones and will be convenient for my carry-on luggage. - The ear pieces are a very soft material and they are super comfortable to wear. I've worn them for an entire day while working and they feel great. - They were easy to set up and connect. The Bluetooth connection to my phone was quick. Then download the Marshall Bluetooth App and follow the instructions to do a firmware update and walk through the settings and instructions for the various features available through the App. - While you can just use them straight out of the box to connect to your phone or music source, the App is very useful to do some one-time set up and choose various options. The App shows the percent of battery life left; you can set the Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) level and the transparency volume; you can choose between 6 different equalizer settings - Marshall Signature Sound, Custom, Bass Boost, Mid Boost, Treble Boost and Mid Reduction; with the Custom equalizer setting you can adjust the 5-band equalizer to create the sound you want; you can toggle on/off Adaptive Loudness; you can set which combination of the three ANC settings you want the on-ear ANC mode button to toggle between - ANC, Transparency and Off; you can choose which action setting you want the on-ear M Button to control - Spotify Tap, toggle between 2 equalizer settings - the Marshall Signature Sound and one other EQ setting of your choice, Soundstage, voice assistant, or Do Nothing; you can set the Room Size and amount for the Soundstage option; you can toggle on/off the interactions sounds for ANC prompts; you can turn on/off the auto-play/pause when the headphones are worn or taken off; you can choose a battery preservation mode and level; and you can select the standby timeout mode and the time until they turn off when not used or the timeout length when not connected. There are a lot of great features available in this App that allow you to customize the Monitor III's however you like to use them. - The ANC feature is great. It really cuts out all the background noise and doesn't impact the quality of sound when in use at all. It is nice to have an ANC button on the earpiece that allows you to toggle between ANC and transparent mode, as it makes it quick to click on the button and be able to hear noises around you when necessary, or switch back to ANC. - There are a total of three controls on the headphones. The control knob that allows you to power on/off, play/pause, forward, reverse, answer and disconnect calls, adjust volume and put in pairing mode, the ANC button explained above, and the customizable M-button which you can choose for an action from the list mentioned in the description of the App above. These on-ear controls are easy to find and use when wearing the headphones. - Of course the most important thing with headphones is the sound. The sound is incredible! I've tested them out with all kinds of music - loud, soft, acoustic, female and male singers, instrumental, and various genres of music. It all sounds great! Plus with the ability to set custom equalizer settings, you can really adjust it to the sound you like best. I like a heavy, deep bass, and the bass is excellent in these headphones. - The battery life is also excellent, with up to 70 hours of playback on a full charge. The Marshall Monitor III's are a great set of headphones, with excellent sound, a useful App with many customizable features, and a terrific design that allows them to fold into a small hardcase for travel. I am really enjoying these new headphones and highly recommend them!

Marshall finally pumped out a great set of cans!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been trying different Marshall headsets for a number of years and I always wanted to like them. Why? Because the build quality is always there and I could see the potential. I mean their Amps and other gear are standards in the music industry. Wouldn't it make sense the headphones would be really good? I have speakers and they have been good, but I guess I had a high bar? For these Monitor III ANC over the ears, this is about as great as one can. I have one real nitpick on it overall, but I still recommend it. I am no audiophile, but I do enjoy clear music with a punch of bass. I need to know the bass is present whenever it calls for it. For these cans, I the box was surprisingly small and I found out why. These twist into a small eggshell type of case. I prefer a more flat case but in this form, I can forgive it because it packs away easily and well. Another thing, the case has the pebbled leather texture and that transfers to the headphones as well. The headband as well! Getting back to the case, it is well made, has a red vevelt cloth to make it feel like you are taking an instrument out of it's case. It's really cool in my opinion. The headphones come with the very short charging cable along with a 3.5MM to USB C cable. I was excited for a minute to maybe hope that these would plug in the headphones with the 3.5mm side, but no. It's USBC on the headphone, so you would need a 3.5mm jack to use that. The feel and look is right where it needs to be in relation to the retail price. The gold lettering looks premium as does every other element on the headphone. The main button, which is like a rocker button controls the power, volume, and track advancement or back and it has been a joy to use! It's been a whirlwind of taps or swipes on the headphones or maybe small buttons on the side, but this rocker button is it's best feature! Yes there are two other buttons on the read side, where the left is the ANC on/off button that can be configured a little bit and the right rear button can be used as a button or shortcut to spotify or amazon, which can be configured in the really well done app. I am using a Pixel 9 on the latest Android beta software and most works. I say most because for me at this time, maybe software updates will fix this is the auto off feature when you remove the headset. Normally there's a visible sensor in one of the cups, but I have not seen it on these. So I have had sporatic issues with that feature. I have seen where other users said it didn't work at all, where, mine would work if I would start and pause the music using the headphones first using a button. Then the auto off feature works as it should. Next the equalizer is always a welcomed feature when companies gives us a way to listen to how we each want to. I do prefer a clear vocals with a bit of bass, so I usually opt for bass boost and that takes care of it my requirement. However, I have tried the Marshall setting and that brings more warmth to the vocals than just a bass boost. So for the most part of my listening, I have used the Marshall setting and I have been enjoying my time using these headphones so far. The battery life is outrageous! I mean I haven't charged it since my initial full charge and it's still pretty charged up. The range is impressive as well. I have my phone in the living room and I have been around my house and outside the backyard patio and the connection has been solid. No skips or hesitation at all. The ear cushions are very soft, a bit too soft for me, but they are comfortable. Again a subjective preference! I prefer ear cups to be memory foam firm and soft rather than be just mush upon touching the foam cups. For these, they are on the smooshie side! Not my preference, but good. As for the ANC, it is pretty well done in my opinion. It's the best ANC I have to date and I have a few mid range models of over the ear that I normally use. However, not these are in the stable, it will be used in my travels for a while now. I think they got pretty much every right for me to enjoy this for a long time. Well done!
