Simple Stocky Sound Machine from Marshall
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Tufton was very easy to unbox and set up. Just the speaker unit, US and Euro power cables, and some instructions and safety info in several languages. It's billed as IPx2 water resistant. I guess that means it will take some raining on, but don't expect to throw it in the pool. You connect the power cable and a charge meter shows the progress. It's billed as lasting 20 hours on a charge. The unit is styled to look like a Marshall amp, complete with a metal mesh grille, corner reinforcements and a sturdy leather carry strap, which sure smells like real leather. The Bluetooth connection is simple--press a button for 2 seconds, and you hear a tone. The Tufton appears on your device's list of available devices, you select it to pair and it's ready to play music. Done. The controls are equally simple--three rotary knobs for power on/volume (old school!), bass, and treble. That's it. The bass is deep and powerful, amazing for something of this size. I heard no discernible distortion even with the volume knob at about 3/4 of the way to the max. I noticed that unlike other brands of bass-heavy portables, there was very little vibration of the cabinet with the bass. It's not wasted on the cabinet, it comes out through the woofer and a port on the back face. You can opt to connect a device with a 3.5mm stereo cable with the available auxiliary input. I queued up the Lacs "American Rebelution" when connected to my phone with the cable and was rather stunned at how deep the bass was. It sounded great. The way the Tufton "throws" sound in several directions is amazing. You have to look twice to remember where the unit is when you are playing something loud and "busy" with different frequency levels. In short, the Marshall Tufton is an uncomplicated hassle-free portable Bluetooth sound unit. I'd give it 6 stars if it had a headphone/aux out jack! In reality--most if not all Bluetooth devices like smartphones or tablets already have a headphone jack so there would be no reason to worry about headphones. And those devices usually have available equalizers to tweak your music. So the Tufton wins with it's ease of setup and use, and powerful bass.

This Sucker is BIG
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.About 20 lbs shipped. Twenty pounds. That is weight, not me trying to sound British. Quite a few years back I had a bass guitar and a Marshall amp and speaker stack. I often would hook them up to my stereo, as my cheap stereo speakers did not hold a candle to the amp and speaker stack. I bring this up because I got that same sound and feel from my phone. But this time, the speaker is much smaller and Bluetooth (Also and AUX input). I still have the same controls on the speaker, and yes I have modified the speaker to go to 11. This speaker is definitely should have a dust proof rating. One of the gel packets that came in the speaker box had busted open. Of course I decided to open the box in the kitchen on the counter. I got that sandy gel all over the place. You can still see some areas where the gel got in the grate. The speaker is advertised as IPX2 water resistant. (IPX2: Can resist water that hits the product at a 15° angle or less.) So do not go swimming with it on your back. As for sound, if you have ever used a Marshall amp and speaker. This is a really good representation of that sound. If you have never used one, the bass can boom and you can feel the booms when you have a equalizer installed on your phone. The highs are great when listening to a guitar solo. Which brings me to why I have docked a star. I found a Marshal app on the Play Store but it does not support the Tufton. I was thoroughly surprised there is no app for this speaker. The manual did not even show the possibility of there being one either. Just wondering if there will be any firmware updates if there is no app to go with it. If you have an app that you like for an equalizer...keep it. The other part of the docked star. The instructions were lacking. A thick booklet with pictures on the front and every language you can think of with minimal description of what the picture was. Pros: - Awesome guitar strap handle that is removable - Great sound for Rock out of the box - Looks so awesome - Sharpie mod allows you to turn it up to 11 - Shipped with both EU and US power cords Cons: - No app - Heavy - Missing my bass guitar - Really needs a equalizer if you plan to use for anything other than rock with heavy guitar riffs

BLOWN Away!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced an old bluetooth speaker with this beast. Just a heads up, it’s relatively big, but this thing feels built to last! Taking it out I was amazed at the detail put into its creation. This thing looks dead on for a smaller version of a Marshall amp. And then it’s just plug in and go. Turn the volume knob, hold the sync button down for a bit and select it on your device! Boom! Instant music! I was a little concerned about the lack of equalizer ability. It only has bass and treble knobs. But that does not deter this device from putting out quality sound at low and high volumes alike. It’s crisp with very little distortion on either side of the range. As for the battery life…. I have yet to recharge this thing and have used it for approximately 12-15 hours. The very conspicuous battery indicator still shows plenty of life. If you’re looking for a lightweight, tiny speaker, this is not it. But if you’re looking for a wireless option for high quality sound at an outdoor event or anything else similar, you can’t go wrong. Highly! Highly recommend!

My new favorite speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing said it was a portable speaker but it’s huge! In the box it comes with the speaker , booklet , cable to charge it and then another one that works in Europe I believe ( I don’t think it’s English with two circle prongs ). In the box it was dead but it was fully charged in like 2 hours. This thing has three knobs to control volume , bass and treble and these work great. The bass is pumping but I prefer less treble so I can lower it. It also has an IPX2 rating so I wouldn’t be afraid of accidentally spraying it with a little water like on a table outside or near your kitchen kind of thing but it wouldn’t survive near a pool or in rain much. As as sound goes this sounds better then most speakers out there in the market to me at least. Design is signature Marshall design if you ever seen their amps and mics.

Big Loud BASS.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before I purchase this, I read a lot of reviews. Some very technical. This is probably the best speaker on the market. It doesn’t have a lot of options and do dads that you don’t need. What does it have? Great sound? Fantastic bass and great true quality.

Light and Loud
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The portability of the speaker is very comfortable. Super light given its sturdiness. The leather handle gives it that good durability feel and the sound quality is great. Bluetooth connectivity is quick and simple.

“Old School” Outside, Great Technology Inside
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Without a doubt, this Bluetooth Marshall Portable Speaker does justice to the well-known impressive Marshall name. Because of the name, you expect nothing less and who would expect it possible in a portable Bluetooth speaker. You will be VERY pleasantly surprised. If you really love your music, you will be impressed by the sound. I have floor style brand name speakers that I thought gave out some pretty awesome sound, but I can honestly say, after fine tuning, this portable speaker sounds much better, although not as loud, but you have to remember this is a portable Bluetooth speaker. There are good speakers and then there is the Marshall sound. If you close your eyes and listen to your favorite song, you would really think the band was playing right in the same room you are in. I don’t understand how they do it, but I was playing a song in my great room and walked into the kitchen and the sound was as if I were back in the great room listening to it. It was just a tiny bit lower volume and crystal clear. Surprisingly, there is no app I could find to download, but with the sound coming out of this, I see absolutely no reason to play around with it. Just a little adjustment and you have sound like you have never heard before. This is my favorite speaker of anything I have ever had and I have some high end speakers…any search is over to bother to try to find better sound. I highly recommend this speaker. Anyone who truly loves hearing every note of an instrument played and sounds you had not heard before in your favorite songs, will be extremely impressed. There is nothing “old school” about the inside of this speaker.

Marshall Tufton
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s pretty good. Battery life seems excellent. It looks cool. It plays loud without breaking up. The con….and it’s a pretty big one to me is the sound. Marshall have tuned these speakers in a really aggressive possibly “V Shape” it is really difficult to get the mids (no matter how you adjust the bass and treble controls) which results in songs that bands play just sounding different than the recordings and what they sound like on any normal stereo system. The vocals often seem to get buried along with strangely enough the guitars as well at times. I find the overall presentation strange. It’s enough that it bothers me. I will eventually get something else to replace it, Disclaimer here is I am a musician and picky about sound. So, it may not bother others.

Posted .Hi Jack, thank you for your review. It is true that the Tufton will have a very driving sound, it is also quite a punchy/muted speaker. The reason you may be having a different listening experience compared to a traditional stereo set up is that the speaker borrows from the Blumlein stereo design. The Speaker has a single woofer, two Full-Range Drivers, and a single tweeter. This means that the mix will be delivered by different means than a traditional speaker with a Woofer and Two tweeters. When listening indoors, speaker placement can be important to tailor the sound to your liking. Where the Tufton will really shines is with outdoor use where you will experience a good wall of sound without any wayward dynamics. This means the speaker will be great for outdoor gatherings and environments that require consistent ambience. The Homeline III speakers may be better suited for your needs, such as the Stanmore III or Woburn III. A big thanks from the team for your review. We hope you can continue to enjoy Marshall Headphones products in the future.

Full size speaker features in a portable model
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shipping weight on FedEx showed 16 lbs. So expected a large portable bluetooth speaker. And that is exactly what I got. Sound quality similar to a full size Marshall Bluetooth speaker I got a while ago. Only it takes up less space and has a handy carrying handle. This is a good listening option for people who live in multiple places. No need to compromise when listening to your tunes.

Very Cool and Great Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are many different types of bluetooth speakers out there but for Fender lovers or collectors of unique speakers, this one is one of the best. This speaker is larger but that helps with the sound which is excellent. Also the Fender design is a cool discussion piece.

Excellent Portable Party Speaker!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried JBL Boombox 2, though it had few extra features but Sound wise "Not-Satisfied" so returned & though "lemme give it a try". Ohhh man, it's an amazing speaker! High clarity in the mids/voice , bass is over the top, Slightly elevated with nice punch. Custom sound control is +++ . It's very portable, classy. Love the retro look. There was absolutely no problem connecting my phone & laptop. Switching between devices also smooth. Very high quality could not find a flaw . Highly recommended ...

Great party speaker, cool design mostly nostalgia.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll start out with this. This is a solid bluetooth audio device with excellent audio reproduction. It's at LEAST as good as any speaker it's size and configuration. Bluetooth audio sounds as good as wired, but I'd credit that as much to improvements in A2DP, APTx and other bluetooth audio protocols as I would to this being a well-made, high-quality speaker... Anyone looking for cool retro guitar amp styling need not look further. People looking for a classic rock feel to their tune box will be more than satisfied. From the iconic speaker grill logo, to the cornering and cabin decorations, and the control knobs, this thing screams mid-century rock culture... Its an expensive product, but not terribly so, and if you're into the nostalgia in evokes, you'll be more than satisfied with your purchase.

This speaker kicks!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own a JBL Boombox and I absolutely love it, however, I found that when listening to hard rock it just did not sound right. I was great for pop, but I more frequently listen to rock. I purchased this Marshall Tufton and upon getting home, immediately paired to it and started comparing the sound of the two speakers. Among the songs I compared with were Heart's "Barracuda", Gary Moore's "Oh Pretty Woman", Devour The Days "Good Man". I have to say that I was blown away, by how much better this speaker sounds for hard rock. The drums in particular, sound live! I was prepared to return this speaker if it did not outperform my JBL Boombox, but for my primary music genre, it certainly did. The only song that I found sounded slightly better on the Boombox, because the mids were more forward and a little brighter, was John Mayer's "New Light", which leans more towards pop. In addition to great audio performance, the speaker is well built and looks GREAT. My Boombox is going on eBay, my mini Marshall stack if here to stay!

Bad speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bad experience, not used much over the period of two years. Fisrt, the base sound will go off and on. Then it wouldn’t charge or it would change randomly. after that the lights on the top started blinking like crazy while playing music. Now it does not work at all. I would not recommend this speaker brand. Contacted Marshal for assistance and there is nothing they can do for me they said. Unhappy customer.
