This speak is absolutely incredible. From the sheer size to the stunning build quality and technology that goes into it. I love the look and the features and when turning the volume, bass, or treble knobs that they are light up to indicate what position they are in. You are also able to create custom profiles for your connections so you can switch between bluetooth, RCA, or AUX with a different sound set up. Bluetooth on this is great and the sound quality is comparable to some of the best speakers on the market. With the customization of the sound signature you can tweek any sound to suit your needs. Just in aesthetic alone I believe this speaker adds value. It's a speaker that will get a lot of people talking and definitely can complete with other speaker giants in the industry. If you like deep bass, rich vocals, customization, and stunning visuals then this is a great purchase.

When I first opened the box and took the Marshall Woburn 2 speaker out I thought, wow this is a serious speaker. Immediately, you can tell the build quality is top notch and reminiscent of Marshall speakers of old. Most people reading this will not remember the old Marhall speakers and amps but let me assure you they were always known for top notch quality and power. This speaker does not disappoint and holds that tradition. First, if this is not a portable speaker – it weighs almost 20 lbs. Its needs to be to handle the sound power it generates. Set up is simple – plug it in, download the app, upgrade the firmware and connect to your device. At first I liked the sound but was not overly impressed. But then I found the equalizer in the app ( or as they list it “equaliser”) and found there was substantive differences in the sound. In fact , the Marshall app allows you to use custom equalizer presets or create your own. In running through the equalizer presets, I found the “Rock” one to be the most pleasing. If you want, you can also adjust the base, treble and volume through simple knobs on the speaker. It does not sound like much but there is something to be said for simple knobs to control everything if you want. Too many speakers on the market had touch buttons or an app to control that. The app also gives you the option to pair the speaker with another speaker. However, you will find this has more than enough power and will not need two. So what about the sound. In all but the max volumes the sound is simply fantastic. Everything is clear, rich and on the mark. Base hits the real lows and the treble is pitch perfect. If you notice, I said the sound was good in all the but max volumes. At nearly max and max volumes, there is a noticeable distortion. However, the max volume is ear bleedingly loud and far too high in most cases. Even at the lower settings , the Marshall Woburn 2 is pretty loud. Now comes the all important question, would I recommend it. Well, mostly yes and a little no. This is an expensive speaker and is more than most people need. But if you are looking in this price range, this is probably the best you can buy. It is not too expensive for the sound it delivers but spending $500 for one speaker is high for most. Another thing that some people will not like is the retro design. For me, I think the Marhsall Woburn 2’s design is a piece of art. In summary – bold, beautiful, well built and great sound. If you can afford it, you cannot go wrong.

For starters, the speaker looks amazing. It screams high end. The sound is also equally amazing, and it gets loud, very loud. It has a great sound by default, but personally I prefer a bit more bass. Luckily there is a knob for that, and I cranked it up to my liking. The highs tend to break up at higher volumes and can be a bit bright for me, but again, a simple twist of a knob solves this issue for me. There is also an app that gives you more options to adjust the EQ. Also just a quick FYI, at the time I received this speaker, there was a firmware update that's available via the app

    Bluetooth for Adults

Have you seen the old Tom Cruise movie "Risky Business" where Tom Cruise turns up his father's high end audio equipment and slides across the floor in his socks? That pretty much sums up this speaker for me. This speaker screams sophistication in both appearance and sound. The gold controls, indicator lights, speaker cover, casing...all look great. This is not your kid's bluetooth speaker with flashing "look at me" lights. This speaker is like climbing into that new Mercedes. Classic look, but refined features that are rich with quality. Although this speaker has adult styling, don't be fooled. It's performance will bring out your inner child at any moment. I listen to a wide array of music, from classic country to modern edm. This speaker covers it all and does it well. The enunciation of the individual sounds, the feel of the bass, it all flows so well together. I just had to put on some "Old Time Rock and Roll" and crank it up. It felt amazing. Now even as great as this speaker is, there are some shortcomings. First, I wish it didn't need to be plugged in all the time. Being tethered to a wall limits its versatility. Second, the volume knob goes up to 10. But be careful turning this thing up to 11. At max volume there was definitely distortion. That being said, you shouldn't ever need to go that high. It does fine filling the room at lower levels and does it with authority. Thirdly, this thing is big. It dwarfs a football and has some heft to it. Even being a stationary speaker, I would like to have a handle to move it without having to carry it like a cinder block. Then above all, the price is definitely in the elite tier that includes competition that includes a few of this missing features. Everything said and done, this is a great sounding speaker with looks to spare. It will put a smile on your face, the beat in your heart, and not tear up your ears while doing it.

Really should be 1 star. Bluetooth drops constantly and crackles all the time, every song, all the time, full charge of phone, near and far. Specs say 30’ distance, this happens within 10’ of speaker. Not happy for $550. Pro: it looks nice, good audio when it plays right. Con: see above.

Hello DBilly, thanks for your review. Sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your experience of the Woburn II Bluetooth speakers. The 2 speakers have to be quite close together (within 1 meter) for uninterrupted audio playback. We hope you will try other Marshall Speakers again in the future.

All I have to say about this one is WOW! Marshall has knocked it out of the park with the Woburn II speaker. Right out of the box, you are met with that Marshall look that many know so well. It looks just like the Marshall amps! It looks really good. After taking out of the box, reading the instructions, and downloading the app we were ready to try this thing out. I want to start by saying that other than the power cord, there are no cables included. For the money, Marshall could have included RCA and 3.5mm cables, but alas they did not. Pairing to the unit was a breeze and it began playing. I listen to a wide variety of music and I really wanted to put it through its paces. I was not disappointed. These days, everybody and their mother is putting out a bluetooth speaker. Quality varies from just something to take to the beach that makes noise to something that an audiophile can appreciated. This is the latter. I haven't found a speaker that can handle so many genres of music like this one can. It can handle the deep bass of rap and EM, the screeching and wailing of the metal guitar, as well as the melodic highs of a violin concerto. It is as impressive a speaker as I can find. I would also like to give kudos on the retro style knobs. It really lends a feeling of nostalgia. Hands down this is an amazing speaker that can handle any type of music you want to listen to with aplomb!

    Awesome speaker, conversation starter

Let me start by saying that I’m a bit of a speaker collector, I’m afraid.... I probably have at least half a dozen speakers in various rooms in my house – probably half of the number I’ve purchased and used over the past couple of years. Even though I might be a bit of a tech junkie, I am much more of a music junkie. So quality sound is king. These are not the most featured laden speakers out there, by any means. You don’t get any digital assistant, no airplay (I’ll admit, I wish it had that), even though you still have to set the speaker up through a somewhat clunky interface via a smart phone app. But if it is sound you are after - this speaker blew me away. You get really amazing, balanced, and realistic bass - which is hard to believe given the rather modest 5 1/4 inch “woofers.” I primarily listen to acoustic music and jazz, so a good flat natural sound is what I am looking for. I have a pair of the speakers (relatively easy to set these up for stereo sound through the app), and they fill my rather large living space exceptionally well. There are, of course, other very capable speaker systems out there which could claim the same. But when coupled with the awesome retro styling... well, these are without peers. They are proudly and prominently displayed on each side of my living room, and I expect they will be for some time. If you’re looking for a great sounding Bluetooth speaker and can appreciate the nostalgia and styling of the Marshall brand, you can’t go wrong. Do keep in mind this speaker is small enough to move from room to room (it will require AC power- no batteries here), but it is really better suited as a fixture, as it really isn’t intended to be a portable unit. Find a spot where you can sit down and really appreciate listening to music- because this thing won’t let you down.

And this speaker rocks! I'll just start by saying, yes, get this speaker, you will love it. Ive had a couple of days to use this speaker for many different genres of music, and have been very pleased with the performance. I have owned and use a few of the big name Bluetooth speakers, but this Marshall by far blows them all away. First off, this is not a portable speaker, it is heavy and has no carry handle or strap. Second, it has to be plugged in to an AC outlet to function, there is no rechargeable battery. The design is classic Marshall, looks like a Marshall Guitar Amp and will add class to any room you put it in. The speaker has very cool red LED lights at the top controls where the volume, Bass and Treble knobs are. Also at the top is a play/pause button, the power switch, and a mode button for Bluetooth RCA connections or an Aux cord. It is a very nice brushed aluminum gold colored top panel. The AUX cord plugs in at the top and the RCA inputs are in the back. How does it perform? AWESOME that how. The Bass is deep and booming. I have this in my office and turned it up to about 6 and played some Van Halen "Unchained" and it was shaking my window. I could feel the bass, it is incredible. The highs and mid tones are clean, rich and powerful. This is way too much sound for a small room like my office, it deserves to be played in a large room full of your friends and just rocking out. This is a pricey speaker at almost $500, but in this case you will get your money's worth and more. I highly recommend this speaker to anyone who is looking for a great home speaker.

This speaker ABSOLUTELY ROCKS! The Woburn II does it for me, both through sound and appearance. When I initially took this speaker out of the box, I knew it would fit perfect in any space within my house. It simply flows, it blends in, it’s simply “at home”. The physical size of this speaker doesn’t bring some gaudy presence, but it’s actually serene. As for the sound, I can’t say this enough, IT ROCKS! This thing puts out crisp, quality sound from deep bass to crystal clear highs. Just to be sure I wasn’t in awe of my new speaker, I listened to a few songs varying in genres. Everything I listened to sounded accurate, strong and very clear. The tweeters produce strong high frequencies without any harshness or piercing sounds. Then comes the bass....you hear it and you definitely feel it! Through testing different songs and listening from different parts of my house, I had to laugh as I made it to the kitchen only to hear plates and glasses rattling. Now that’s bass! Hearing this level of quality sound without having the speaker turned all the way up definitely makes me love this speaker. However, with all great things come at least some type of flaw, right? Well, in my case this flaw comes from the deeper part of this speaker, the bass. I noticed with every song I played, there was very noticeable distortion from the subwoofer. Mind you, I had the bass set at 6, treble set at 7, and volume between 1/2 and 3/4. The distortion wasn’t from bottoming out or lack of reproducing certain frequencies, but simply from the bass reproduction itself. I’ve attached a photo of the Woburn II next to the Stanmore II voice.

Hello there, thanks for your review. We hope you reached out to Best Buy or the Marshall Support Team for assistance, this doesn't sound right. The Woburn II Bluetooth speaker sounds amazing in large or small rooms, what height did you have the speaker at? Depending on the environment, other wireless signals and interference, it may be necessary to try a different location for the speaker to get uninterrupted playback.

This totally reminds me of Back to the Future. The opening scene where Marty goes around turning on all the speakers and switches then gets blown away when he strikes his first cord on his guitar. Okay no glass breaking here but WOW..... what amazing sound being generated from the retro looking device. It reminds me of the monitor speaker on stage when Marty was back at his high school playing guitar in front of his dad. But trust me... this is not an old speaker. It has a retro look at first glance but upon closer review it is totally modern. Love the gold dials on top. I was surprised it came with a European power cable in addition to the US cable. I was not familiar with Marshall previously so maybe that is common for them do include. I don't see me taking it on any overseas trips but if I could I would. It has super rich sound. I like that you have an app on your phone to control it and your profiles. I am a but of a techie and like to use my phone to connect to my devices whenever possible. MUSIC sounds amazing... pick a genre. You won't be disappointed.

Okay. It has to be plugged in to work, no rechargeable battery here. But unlike the others THIS IS NOT A TOY SPEAKER. It has phenomenal sound and power. I believe I tried six different speakers before me and this Marshall chose each other. If you want mediocre sound and a battery look elsewhere. If you want great sound, with massive power and you don't mind plugging it in BUY THIS. I use this in my garage and on my deck and everybody and I mean EVERYBODY said this ting sounds amazing. I am a musician and an audiophile and I LOVE THIS THING. If you don't believe check it out for yourself. Class D amplifiers don't lie.

The Marshall Woburn II Bluetooth speaker delivers rich, powerful audio befitting its size and price. Excellent audio performance with powerful bass depth and solid clarity in the highs. In-app EQ and adjustable bass and treble knobs. Handsome design. Easy to setup with the Marshall App. Sounds great! Sound will easily fill my 700 foot apt with volume mid-low. Could easily wake up the neighbors with volume mid-high! I use it mostly playing Spotify from my iPad via Bluetooth. Or sometimes connect from the 3.5mm aux to my iPod. Either way is easy to do, and sounds great. Using the Marshall App, I can easily switch the equalizer settings for whatever genre (rock, blues, jazz, country, latin, r&b...) of music I am playing. Its not exactly a cheap speaker. But it has performed excellent. Build quality feels solid, not like a cheap toy as some speakers feel. A big - the speaker should not shows as connected if the device has not been paired by pressing source button. The first time, I set it up, it upgraded the firmware and show as bluetooth connected. However, there is no sound coming out when playing bluetooth. I have to reset the pairing by pressing the source button then the sound is able to transmit from iphone to woburn 2.

This is the first I have ever heard of Marshall and I must say if the rest of there products are like this I may be hooked. The sound quality from this speaker is AMAZING. It has an adjustable base and trebel. I connects easily to bluetooth devices (though there was no instruction manual so I had to play around with it until I figured out how to get it into pairing mode.) It is sort of heavy, about 25 pounds. There is a connection for optical and RCA cords but they are not included. A Eurpean power cord was though interestingly enough. Will definitely be using this at some parties this summer. Neighbors beware! ;)

Marshall is synonymous with Rock Music, their amps have been around for 50+ years and are the pinnacle in rock and roll sound. So it's only natural that they would eventually take that speaker technology and apply it to bluetooth speakers. The speaker itself looks identical to a Marshall amp and comes in at a hefty 20+ pounds. You can connect either through the app or through your bluetooth connection in your phone. I tested this speaker out in comparison to my other bluetooth speakers in the house like a Bose Soundlink and Sony XRS and the Marshall blew all of them out of the water. I was really surprised by how clean and crisp the vocals were without being too muddled by the bass. The only thing I wish that this speaker could do is double as a real amp, but I understand why they probably couldn't make that work. It isn't by any means a very portable speaker so I'd recommend it for a backyard BBQ or pool area. But I can honestly say this is one of the best if not the best bluetooth speaker I've ever tested. If you're on the fence I would highly recommend buying it and taking the Marshall plunge, you won't be disappointed!

What can I say, if you pick up a speaker and it is this heavy and doesn't have batteries you would and should expect good sound. This is perfect for my main living area. It sounds great and provides a fullness that smaller speakers aren't able to. I put this through all the standard music I use to evaluate with and really enjoyed the clear clean and rich reproduction this device delivers. Just a couple points on the down side. First I couldn't seem to get the thing to pair to my android phone without installing the app. Once installed be sure to download the firmware upgrade which gives you lots of control of the device including adding additional Marshall Speakers for potential house filling sound. It is possible to overpower the bass at higher volumes and by turning up the base as well. Still this sounds great - just seems strange it would allow you to over push that part of the frequency range. Finally, I was disappointed that there was no optical in with this model. For a speaker that is meant to be inside and "civilized" that would be a good way to connect to more traditional sources. All in all I really like this and know I will get a lot of enjoyment from it in the years to come.
