Let's check our list: Snarky white rich guy who is a major jerk, check Almost loses his life and finds a way to become a super hero while still being a little bit of a jerk, check Awesome special effects, check Hot girl friend he will most likely screw up by dating, check Lots of fun for the family to watch, CHECK. This is a definite have for any marvel or superhero fan. Acting in it is spot on with most of the source material. The kaleidoscope effects and multiple dimensions makes me think of a an acid trip that would make a wonderful ride at a Disney theme park. All in all this follows Marvels winning formula and then takes it a step further. Also mid credit and after credit scenes are worth the wait.

I think it could have been better. But most first MCU movies start kind of slow. Hopefully the sequel delivers.

One of my favorites out of all these movies. Of course I might be biased, I have a bit of a crush on Benedict Cumberbatch. However? I definitely did NOT when I first watched this movie. Like, even remotely. So, I guess my crush has NOTHING to do with me loving this movie. In fact, this movie is probably what made me like Benedict Cumberbatch so much!! Such a suberb movie over all, I loved all the "Inception" like scenes, that made it just amazing to watch, special effects wise. And Tilda Swinton is so great in it, too!! And that car crash scene? WOW!!

Dr. Strange explains what is going to happen in the Marvel universe!

Without giving away too much, Benedict Cumberbatch just kills it. He is one class actor. Cumberbatch rocks as Strange and pulls it off with ease. The impressions his portrayal gives us is that he was born to play the role of the ex-neurosurgeon turned Sorcerer Supreme. Such is the talent of the lead cast, that it represents just how good the movie was overall. Every normal movie watcher will love the action, humour, adventure and fantasy throughout the film. A solid new character introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with loads of potential. Cumberbatch solidifies and anchors his role in the MCU as Stephen Strange in a similar fashion to RDJ doing so with Tony Stark. A must watch! Enjoy!

Overall, this is a good addition to any Marvel collection. The visual/special effects were very good, and the 4 main actors did really well in their roles. The reason I gave this a 4 out of 5 was because of the actors and the visual look of the film. Unfortunately, it does have a somewhat weak ending. During the majority of the movie, you have the main "bad guy", Mads Mikkelsen causing problems for/fighting with the main "good guy", Benedict Cumberbatch, and at the end of the movie, where there should have been a showdown/final resolution between the two, a 3rd party gets involved and Mads Mikkelsen just goes away. The showdown builds up, and builds up, and builds up, and then...you get left with..."wait...what?...that's it?" Had it not been for the good acting performances and really good visual effects, and the intro of a new (and will be recurring) character, I would have given the movie a 3 out of 5.

I'm a fan of Marvel superhero movies that are not typical. Guardians, Ant Man and no doctor Strange. I decided to pick it up in 3D as I believe it will be harder to find more 3D movie in the future since Samsung stopped producing 3D units. I have heard from many people complaints about how 3D is bad and I don't understand it. Either they are not watching it on the right equipment or there's something causing them discomfort while watching a 3D movie. I personally find that my own setup at home is superior to the theaters and that the 3D effect is clearer. I don't know if this is because the movie gets additional care before the blu ray release or just simply the TVs are better in displaying the 3D.

About the purchase: The extra five dollars for the collector's edition was entirely worth the price. My only grievance would be that Best Buy posts the product for sale on their website prior to release, thereby inferring that you can pre-order it. You go to pay online, only to keep getting an error message. Some of us have jobs and can not stand in front of the store hours before they open on the day of the product's release. About the product: Doctor Strange is a fantastic film. Sets a different tone than the prior Marvel Studios productions. You don't need to have watched any of the others to follow the story. The casting, story, production and effects are all top rate. Truly a great film.

I'd never read a Doctor Strange comic book. I had heard the name before, but really knew nothing of this character or his story. I wanted to see this film because it starred two of my favorite actors, Benedict Cumberbach and Tilda Swinton. This is a terrific film! The plot, though not complex, is interesting, and the actors make the incredible believable and emotionally satisfying. The whole cast is great, and Benedict and Tilda are superb. The visuals are mesmerizing. The soundtrack is both stirring and exotic. Gorgeous, exciting and fun to watch. The DVD is just as wonderful (though I must admit that I saw the film in IMAX 3-D which was truly eye popping). A phantasmagorical delight.

Marvel's The Avengers and it's prequels introduced us to Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Thor films the realm of MCU gods. Dr. Strange introduces the mystic realms of the MCU. Benedict Cumberbatch is a perfect fit as Dr. Stephen Strange. He takes us on the journey of Strange from an egotistical master neurosurgeon to a master of the mystic arts who serves the world. I'm looking forward to Dr. Strange's appearance in Thor: Ragnarok. And an eventual meeting between Strange and Tony Stark will be awesome. Treat yourself to this film that introduces a new part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with an actor who is the character lifted from the pages of the Marvel Comics.

This movie is an amazing 3D watch. Director Scott Derrickson, made a visual master piece with this new edition to the Marvel Comic Universe movies. This is my favorite of the Marvel origin stories, and if you have access to view it in 3D, it's completely captivating. It's one of those movies that demand uninterrupted attention, and you'll be happy to oblige. Riveting till the very end, Doctor Strange is by far a masterfully made movie. I ordered it from Best Buy online, and it arrived very quickly. Several days before its expected arrival date. And in immaculate brand new condition. I've already recommended to several friends and family. And they share my opinion. As you will too!!

I love the magical realm of this movie. Cool special effects. And you can't go wrong with Cumberbatch.

My wife had pre-ordered this item for me on Amazon. But after several delays, Amazon finally cancelled the order, saying that they would not be able to offer this item. So, I ordered it myself from Best Buy. I picked it up in-store on the day I ordered it. I had already seen the film in 3D IMAX, so I knew liked it. But I really like to watch 3D movies on my own TV at home. We just watched it last night. Loved the 3D effects on my TV. Good quality. The Marvel movies are typically very good in this regard. Clearly, they spare no expense on their effects budgets. If you like Marvel, if you like 3D, or if you just want a good, fun, action & adventure movie, check out Dr. Strange.

This new edition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is exhilarating. It's something new and different, but yet familiar. Marvel Studios continues with their movie making formula and does it again. They always own the box office with new releases. Doctor Strange had the most ideal and most memorable actor to fill those shoes and that's none other than Benedict Cumberbatch. His acting has always been phenomenal in my opinion. He's become more famous in the last several years. I think he's a great edition to the already amazing cast in the MCU. I also really enjoyed this nifty collectible steel case that the blu-ray movie came in. This is a must see, must watch, and must own movie.

Great casting and a fun movie in the Marvel Universe series. Not the best, but by far not the worst either.

I was just trying to find a relevant and clever review summary and that's all I could come up with. The packaging fits the atmosphere of the film. The inclusion of a psychedelic lenticular (3D insert card with two scenes in one -- didn't know they were called that) is a neat added value to the purchase. Loved the Phase 3 sneak peak. "Team Thor" part 2 was included but got me wondering what disc had part one. With further research I found that the iTunes version of Civil War came with it (so mad!). The special features delved deeper into the search for a director. Alternate stories like that make watching the special features worth while instead of the usual interviews.

I wasn't a big Dr. Strange fan going into this movie. I had never read the comics or knew much of the story or background. But now I can say I'm I huge fan!! Amazing actors, amazing effects, great story and a fun ride made this a must buy movie for me. I got the 3D version and have watched it four times already. It fits perfectly into the same world as The Avengers, Gaurdians of The Galaxy, Antman and all the rest of the marvel super heroes. And the scene mid way through the credits with Dr. Strange and Thor just show the possibilitys these characters have mixing with each other. I'm glad I bought this movie and I'm sure I'll end up watching it a hundred more times!!!

Another fantastic Marvel film. Even if you don't follow the comic is a great story line. Highly recommend
