Doctor Strange is a 3D stunner

For those still into 3D and who prefer it over the 2D image when possible, you can't do better than Doctor Strange. The story is better because of it as you are taken through spacial portals to destinations in seconds and it's visions of other realms come to life in 3D. Marvel's Ant Man showed some of what great 3D could do in the sub-atomic realm. Doctor Strange does it even better. Audio is no slouch either as the DTS 7.1 lossless soundtrack envelops you when it needs to, and rocks the house at higher volumes. The Best Buy steelbook featuring the embossed eye of Agamotto is a great touch if you can still find one, but the real prize is the 3D presentation itself.

    A Unique Marvel Experience

I'll admit, when Dr. Strange was first released, I had no interest in watching it. It was too far there and too "strange" looking for my taste. I had a buddy watch it and I asked him, "Is is at least worth a rental", and he said yes. Glad he did. It isn't my favorite Marvel movie (that honor belongs to Iron Man), but it is a very worthwhile addition to the MCU. Dr. Strange's powers are very fascinating to watch develop and see in use, and the special effects in the movie are fun and enjoyable to view. All in all, this movie is a great MCU movie, and if you're like me and have watched them all, you need to watch this one as well.

Dr. Strange may not appeal to everyone and given that this is an origin story, it starts slow but it surely ends with a bang. The story they created for the film was funny and intelligent, even Benedict Cumberbatch whom is not known to be funny had his moments. The acting was top notch, A-list actors filled the screen and everyone played their part perfectly. I bought the 3D Blu Ray and boy was it a great experience. The film would switch from 2:35 ration to 1:85 ration at times to enhance the action scenes. The depth was very good, you can not tell that the 3D was implemented post production. Overall a great film and 3D bluray. Do yourself a favor and buy this.

Doctor Strange might be a bit formulaic in it's overall plot, but that doesn't stop it from being an entertaining movie. Benedict Cumberbatch plays the role as a head-strong Dr. Strange very, very well. The supporting cast, including Tilda Swinton did a great job also, in my opinion. This was one of the most visually stunning Marvel movies to date and certainly added to the entertaining factor of the film. The 3D effects of this film, even being a post-conversion 3D title, really enhanced the experience as well. The 3D actually felt like an addition that enhanced the overall movie experience. Definitely would recommend this title and the 3D version!

Saw this movie in the theater when it came out and it was great. In a time where 3D is an afterthought or cash grab, this was a great time in 3D and also one of the better home 3D experiences as well. Beyond the 3D aspect, the movie itself was just a lot of fun. If you are a steelbook collector - man this is just one of the best ones out there. So great looking to look like the book from the movie. Awesome thought went into the design. If for some reason you are a stickler for continuity in your steelbook collection, this one does not have a title on the spine, again it's meant to be a replica of the book from the movie. Some people care about this stuff.

I like the design of this particular steelbook. I've gotten several of the Best Buy exclusive MCU steelbooks and the design on this one was well done with the mystical script on the inside and what looked like a spell book on the outside with the embossed "Eye of Agamotto" (I think that's what it's called in the Marvel Universe) on the front of the steelbook. As has been the case with many of the Best Buy exclusive steelbooks, this one sold out very quickly in my area. So if you do find one at your location or on the Best Buy website you'd better snag it quickly. My thoughts on the movie itself: I liked how the special effects were done. They were similar to 2010's Inception in their presentation. I thought Benedict Cumberbatch gave a good performance as Dr. Strange. The look and mannerisms were nicely done. The DTS-HD 7.1 sound mix sounded good on my home theater. It made good use of all the channels. The extras were interesting. In particular, the "Team Thor" extra was quite amusing. So yes, I'd recommend this movie. I don't think it was the best MCU movie but it was still a good entry nonetheless.

One of my favorite Marvel movies to date

The movie was fantastic, and not just because I'm a huge Doctor Strange fan. It was definitely a bit "trippy", but that helped make it stand out from other Marvel superhero movies. Benedict Cumberbatch did a fantastic job as Dr. Stephen Strange and there was very little about the movie that I disliked. The steelbook is made to look like one of the ancient books in the movie and it has a really nice embossed feeling to it. All-in-all, I'm very happy with this purchase and highly recommend if you're a superhero/comic book fan.

movie is wonderful. This review is about the curbside service. I ordered via my iPhone app and showed up three hours later. I parked in the designated parking and no one came out. I walked over to the door and they didn’t know anything about my order and I had to show them my confirmation to prove to them I had ordered this item. After a long wait, the person show up with the bag and handed it to me. Your employees were disorganized and rude. I will never do curbside service with the Spartanburg Best Buy ever again.

Loved Dr. Strange! Excellent character development with plot line that fits into the narrative being developed for the epic battle in Thor: Ragnorak, and ultimately, Avengers: Infinity War. Exceptizonal work incorporating stunning visuals similar to that of Christopher Nolan's Inception! Phase 2 continues to reach to different sections of the extensive MCU, introducing us to new heroes/heroines and their villainous antagonists. Looking fowrward to Disney and Marvel continuing to surprise us with exceptional, character and plot-driven films that ultimately fit like puzzle-pieces to form the picture ending one phase and into the next.

Dr. Strange is a weird comic book hero. Let's face it. While the name of this guy is commonly said amongst friends implicating a weird friend moment, nobody knows this side of the story of Dr. Strange. And while the movie is very Inception-ish in some aspects, this makes way better use of the mind altering kinematics that made inception the talk of the town. Marvel has once again been able to pull a very non mainstream hero and make him relatable and almost (dare I say) real. If you are looking to build on your MCU catalog this film is definitely a must have! If you just want a great movie to watch, this one will not dissapoint!

You don’t need to know Dr. Strange to know his story. A tale of hubris — with foolish pride and an inevitable fall — it opens in contemporary New York, where Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), is flying high as a supersurgeon. After a crippling accident, he abandons his old life (partly embodied by Rachel McAdams, dewy and funny) for a grand exploit, traveling simultaneously into his soul and to the misterioso Far East. He meets leaders and fellow travelers, studies books and unlocks secrets, in time becoming a superhero with magical powers, a dubious goatee and a flirty cape that dries his tears.

I wasn't expecting much from a movie about magic. Doctor strange is not one of my favorite comic characters. That being said, I was very pleasantly surprised by this movie. The characters were very good. There was a lot of action. The visual effects were amazing. They didn't explain anyone's backstory in detail aside from dr strange but it was fine since most of the characters were not vital to the story being told. Overall I am pleased with this being part of the avengers infinity wars story. The 3d at home was just ok. The effects in the movie were amazing but it didn't translate well for me in to an amazing 3d experience.

As a major Marvel fan I was really excited to see Dr. Strange on the big screen. I thin Benedict Cumberbatch did really well playing the character of Dr. Strange. He was arrogant in the beginning but humbled himself to the world and its crisis after learning about the ultimate danger that could fall upon the world and the people. There was plenty of magical action and martial arts fighting to make it enjoyable for kids over 5 years old. And while you don't have to be a Dr. Strange fan to see the movie, it is quite entertaining enough if you're just watching it for the magical elements, the great costumes, and the fun storyline.
