this latest MCU film to make it to home video continues Marvel's consistent string of quality big-screen adaptations of its iconic characters. As with previous adaptations, the story varies from the comic books, but in no way substantially diminishes either the characters or the storyline. The acting is wonderful, and the sets and special effects realize the Strange Tales admirably. The 3D is a flawless enhancement to the viewing experience.

    Worth Seeing Again

I saw this movie on an IMAX screen, and looked forward to seeing it again. It was well worth it. The visuals were/are so spectacular that I must admit I missed the nuances of the storyline the first time around. On my LG OLED, the picture was spectacular again, but the more intimate screen invited me into the script and the excellent level of acting from the A-list cast. It is a big-tent blockbuster, for sure. It is also an excellent movie.

As with Ant Man, which I loved for it's different type of Marvel movie, it worked! Well written screenplay, great backstory to how Doctor Strange becomes.... Strangely funny at times, new concept. Benedict Cumberbatch was great as always! His take on Doctor Strange should definitely be good for sequels to come. The visuals, stunning... Special affects along the line of Inception. Great for popcorn movie night at home! Another hit from Marvel

i didn't have high expectations, except maybe for Benedict Cumberbatch of course. I have to say I really enjoyed the movie. Special effects were good, felt like Inception on a few cases. Acting was good. Story was good, some plot holes but a few of them looked like openings/tie-ins for future developments (Thanos Quest? Infinity Wars?). Photography and costumes were cool. I watched it in 3D, which was somewhat subdued. All in all, good time.

Dr. Strange is one of my favorites, and glad to see it come to life. Like so many other childhood Marvel comics recently brought to the screen, this was a great depiction of the Dr, though obviously, they had to stylize it with the Hollywood flair. I understand it has to give way to creativity needed for the screen rather than the more cerebral nature of the comic that spanned over time. All in all, it is one of my favorite Marvels to date.

Most of us love a good rendition of our favorite superhero's, what make Dr Strange so good, is that he's not. He just a driven man, who goes down and unexpected path, only to find, not what he thought he was looking for, but something greater. Incredible acted, scripted and shot by all, A film worth watching more than once. The steelbook case is well in keeping with the theme of the film, and is a joy to have in my collection.

Doctor Strange is a fun movie for the entire family. While I don't want to spoil the plot, I will say that the origin story somewhat follows the comics, while adding a few new elements to keep the story fresh. The special effects were great, and watching them in 3D made the movie that much more enjoyable. It's sad that 3D is dying out with TV makers no longer making 3D televisions. Something to consider during future movie purchases.

This has become one of my favorite Marvel movies to date. Visually, the movie is amazing. There are a lot of really good effects. It plays out a lot like Iron Man's origin story. But I prefer this movie due to the pacing and character development involved. Overall, I ended up being much more impressed with this movie than I expected to be. There's also a good number of bonus features to help add to the experience.

Won’t lie wasn’t 100% aware of dr strange before this movie came out, to me he wasn’t one of the big names. But this movie was done so well and seriously a cape becomes a star in this movie. (Sadly the cape’s personality in this movie is my favorite). I wasn’t sure though in the beginning if I would like this movie or not but at the end I was genuinely surprised. 5 stars for all the effects that went into this movie!!!

I really enjoyed this BluRay! It is visually stunning. I did not see it in the theaters, and did not know the story, and was very impressed. I liked the fact that it had a different story line, with a hero who had to learn how to do what he did against great odds. I was impressed with the story and the movie production itself! I think people who are a bit jaded by the typical action superhero movie might enjoy this for a change!

Doctor Strange is basically the start of phase 3 in the Marvel cinematic saga and it does not disappoint. Benedict Cumberbatch is excellent in the lead role just as Robert Downey Jr. was for Tony Stark. The movie focuses more on the mystical sciences and sorcery than the typical action and adventure that you usually see in a Marvel movie such as Captain America and Iron Man, but it nonetheless holds it own for the action it portrays.

    Marvel, Re-Configured

From the outset where Marvel Studios shows off its brand new logo that features clips of its heroes in action from previous films rather than clips of art from their older comic books it is clear just how much of a brand this studio and their particular type of super hero films have become. What is more telling though, is just how aware Marvel is of this fact and how boldly they state their accomplishments in this re-branding of their title card. This slight boasting by the company sets up good and bad expectations for the film that proceeds it as Doctor Strange very much operates within the familiar world Marvel has built while at the same time reminding us of just how high Marvel can fly leaving this rule of a movie to be something of a letdown. Of course, that is the one glaring barrier all Marvel movies now have to overcome in how do they not just play as large scale TV episodes, but more singular stories that feel worthy of the big screen treatment. It's not necessarily that Dr. Stephen Strange isn't worthy of such treatment, but more in the pantheon of all Marvel has done before and all it plans to do in the future this initial outing with the soon-to-be Sorcerer Supreme feels as brisk and as superfluous to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as The Incredible Hulk now ranks. Not that Doctor Strange doesn't introduce a whole new dimension of possibilities to the MCU, but were this film to not work out the way Marvel expects it to for some reason they could essentially ignore its existence and move on with the physical dangers the film tells us The Avengers protect our world from. That won't happen, of course, but that's the type of indifferent feeling director Scott Derrickson's (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Sinister) take on a Marvel property unfortunately conjures up. Making this worse is the fact that Doctor Strange features some of the more daring and downright trippy visuals that have been seen in a Marvel movie as well as some of the weirder sequences in the studios filmography that, while visually enchanting, make it even more apparent just how standard the narrative is. Why Marvel and Kevin Feige were willing to go out on something of a risky limb with their visuals as well as just how far Strange can push his powers, but not with the story that brings the titular Doctor into the world of magic and mysticism is a little perplexing, but at the end of the day it's clear this is a board room picture designed to change up Marvel's winning formula just enough so as to appear to be something new and different, but what in reality will rely on the same tricks that have guaranteed consistent hints for eight years now.

I screwed up and didn't get to see this movie on the big-screen, my loss. I immediately purchased it when it came out and was not disappointed in the least. I am fortunate to have a 60" 4K TV and the video production was stunning. Being an old geek, I grew up with Dr Strange comics starting when they first came out. The movie faithfully followed the story line. I have watched it several times since purchasing it. Highly recommended!!!

We enjoyed Dr. Strange so much in the theater that we decided to get it in on Blu Ray as soon as it was released. I have 2 boys, an 8 year old and 11 year old, and they both really liked the movie. The graphics and special effects are wonderful on Blu Ray and the movie is just really good in general. The story line is interesting and the acting is great. There are even some funny parts that we thoroughly enjoyed (that cape though).

I'm a fan of all things superheroes, most publications as well. DC, Marvel, whatever as long as it's good. Dr Strange brings you something different than the normal here flicks. Was a fan of the books, wasn't sure if that worked on film.? I was wrong, the film is great. Even if you are not familiar with Dr Strange, it's a great starting point and you won't be lost. Benedict Cumberbatch nails it as does the rest of the cast.

I watch just about all of the comic book movies, but I am definitely not an expert on the characters and their stories. I heard of Dr. Strange years ago but never really knew much about him so it was nice getting to see the origin story to get a real understanding of this character. Many of the sequences in this film look great and it has that familiar Marvel quality to it, but I still prefer Iron Man and Guardians of the Galaxy a bit more. I recommend the film but it isn't quite top tier. Regarding the fancy packaging, I could go either way. While it initially has a more premium look and feel, I really don't like the fact that it doesn't say the name of the movie on the spine. That is just a weird decision.

Doctor Strange is very entertaining! He was so arrogant and was knocked down a couple pegs and turned into a great character. This is a must have for all Marvel fans. Saw the movie at the theater and liked it so much we pre-ordered it! Recommend for kids 12 and up. The movie wasn't delivered on time and we went and picked it up at the store because we couldn't wait to see it again. (delivery was 2 1/2 days later than promised)

Cumberbatch gives an excellent performance, filling the shoes of Dr. Strange perfectly. The movie sucks you in from the beginning, keeping your interest throughout the entire film. I was looking forward to this movie, but was blown away at the final product. Great plot, great acting, and great CGIs come together to make a wonderful adaptation of the great Dr. Strange! Highly recommended for any Strange or Marvel fan.

I regret not seeing this in the theatre as it would have been quite the spectacle. In all it was a very good piece of film making that tells the origin story of Dr. Strange. Benedict Cumberbatch is excellent in the title roll and the supporting players are all well cast and raise the film to a slightly higher level than your superhero film. Humor, a character arc and excellent effects make for a wonderfully entertaining movie.

I didn't know much about the characters of this latest Marvel release, but when I watched this bluray, I was totally mesmerized by the graphics and colors. The story was unique and original and had elements of real life and alien/supernatural. Cumberbatch was perfectly cast! The visual twists in reality was like something out of Inception. I was blown away & very impressed! I'm hoping a Doctor Strange sequel is in the works.
