A Fine Addition to Marvel's Catalog

This movie is very entertaining. It's different from most Marvel stories (those that are familiar with the character will already know this). The imagery is a bit more "trippy," and story is based on magic -- not the traditional strength, etc., superpowers that come with most comic book hero movies. Any fan of the Marvel series should be able to find enjoyment in the movie, and the special features are fun to watch and what we would come to expect with a superhero movie release. If you are looking for some fun movie watching and enjoy the surreal, this could be the right movie to watch.

benedict Cumberbatch is playing someone similar to his holmes character but what's wrong w/that? dr strange is fun, lots of action. the cape explained, like the magical mystical aspect. sort of accepts that aspect even tho man of science. you go w/the flow & want to see more. I liked amy adams character who's nice, has to be to put up w/ strange. somehow, dr strange is likable just like holmes is when Cumberbatch is playing him. would like to see how he and capt America get along, ironman etc. ironman total tech, strange all magic, mysticism. we'll see. meantime, movie is fun.

Doctor strange is the newest in marvels long filmography. It is a generic origin story at times, however the performances from almost everyone are just great. Benedict Cumberbatch IS Doctor Strange, from his look to his attitude. The movie is great to see even for its visuals. However to get the full experience, it is best to watch it in 3D. The Special Features are great with one even teasing the next few movies coming from Marvel. The best one is Team Thor part 2 which gets you ready (in a way) for Thor 3. Definitely worth picking up, 3D is best but you won't regret the 2D either.

I've always liked the Doctor Strange character, and this movie is a great take on the comic series. You may be used to the standard Marvel superhero fare, so this the idea of a superhero who uses magic may be a seem a little, dare I say it, strange. But I think it fits well into the new MCU and, as much as I've enjoyed all the Marvel movies so far, this is one of my favorites. Benedict Cumberbatch, I think, was the perfect choice, also, to play Dr. Stephen Strange. I look forward to seeing more of Dr. Strange in the upcoming movies and hopefully to another Dr. Strange movie.

I grew up reading comics and I have to admit that Dr. Strange was not one of my favorites. The thing I like about Marvel movies the most is that they realize they have to modernize the older comics coming to film so people can relate to it. It also helps Marvel find new fans. It would be difficult for these films to follow their 1960's roots. With that being said, I have really enjoyed all of the Marvel films and Doctor Strange is no exception. Great plot, great acting, and great cinematography/CGI. Add this one to your list of must-sees if you haven't already watched it!

I think that pulling off a Dr Strange movie was harder than GOTG. Getting Cumberbatch is how this movie succeeds! An excellent cast from top to bottom - Mads Mikkelsen is always solid. Rachel McAdams, didn't have much screen time, but she's always nice to see. The 3D really pops when the sorcerers make the walls, buildings, streets converge. I admit I got a huge fanboy smile when Dr Strange is looking out over the city from his window and Stark/Avenger Tower is clearly visible! 1 mid-credit and 1 post-credit scene help set up Thor Ragnorok and a Dr Strange sequel.

I bought this blu-ray for two reasons. First is the steel book case. It is lovely with raised aesthetic features and an eye-catching design. The second reason is for the Team Thor 2 short---Marvel does a great job of keeping this kind of content off of streaming sites so I figured the only way I was going to see it anytime soon was to purchase this disc. Those four minutes or so were worth every penny. The film itself is great. It actually has a few things I've never seen in a Marvel movie. And the climax does not involve a blue light bursting upwards into the sky!

My favorite movie from last year

Let me first say that I go to movies of all kinds during the year- independent, classic, horror, foreign, animated, and yes, superhero. I even attend a film festival twice a year. This was one of my favorite movies from last year. The special effects, visuals, and the lead all make it fun. I was also glad to see Doctor Strange added to the Marvel Universe onscreen. Yes, Marvel needs to flesh out their villains more (in most cases), but there is so much to love about this movie. that it can be overlooked. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves movies.

This movie was a bit different from your typical Marvel movie. However, different is good in this case. Dr. Strange is a wonderful story of an self centered, self worshiping doctor, whom looses the ability of fine motor skills in his hands, do to an accident. He sets out to find a cure. What he finds in enlightenment and a higher purpose. He evolves into a new person, who is not self involved, but a hero that saves the world from an unimaginable evil. This is a great movie, wither your a comic book movie fan or not. For me this is a 5 star movie all the way.

Dr. Strange is Strange in a Magical Way

Marvel keeps cranking movies out and I tend to get skeptical. I now realize there are two types of their superhero movies. The straight kick butt Iron Man/Spiderman/X-Men, etc. Then there are the category of different types of heroes. Dr. Strange falls into this category with Deadpool/Ant Man/Guardians. More of the individual story with something special. The origin story of the Doctor was interesting and it took off from there with magic - the most unusual power. The filming style and effects were mezmerizing and the ending will just lead to, well, you know.....

Okay, was it the same as the original comic book, of course NOT, did it have the same feel as the original story book, NO. Most important was it entertaining and suspenseful: Yes, it was entertaining, it did start off slow and it covered the original after a fashion. The action was very slow, but it went fairly well, not great since it covered several issues of the original comic book and it brought Doctor Strange through what should have taken several months through about 45 minutes of film. It covered about a year or so of comics, and it is a movie so they had to bring it to a suitable place to have a decent ending. Suspenseful, not so much it had a few moments and it ended okay. If you are an older comic book fan you'll have to give some artistic literary license to the producer, and it had pretty good special effects. I would recommend buying Doctor Strange if you are a fan, if not just rent it and wait until the next installment comes out.
