This film is for children, but has a charm that will appeal to all ages. My 7 year old loves it and drags out the DVD every few months to watch and sing-a-long. Julie Andrews with her perfect dictaion, brings all the songs to life like no one else can. I can't help but laugh when I see the scene with Mary singing a duet with what looks like a Robin from the tree outside, it calls to mind the scene in Shrek (1) where the princess sings a duet with a small bird in a tree, and the bird explodes trying to reach the high notes... how times have changed! That just would not do in 1965. His singing and dancing is delightful to watch and lifts the film in ways only he could achieve. A good film is soon sorted from the average when children continually play them over and over. If you can sit down and watch it after hearing and seeing it more than 20 times, it passes the test! Mary Poppins - firm but fair. Thumbs up for this one.
