This is a great remix of the original Mary Poppins

Does this deserve 4 or 5 stars? It was a tough call so I rounded up. Of course you cannot compete with a beloved movie you've known your entire life (the original with Julie Andrews), and it takes a while to simply get used to the fact that this is a different movie with different actors and a different story line. But in the end it was an excellent sequel to the original and I think it did a fine job of honoring that spirit while also having its own unique style.

Let me preface and say I am particularly biased to the original. The acting was good and the overall cinematography was very good. But did not quite do it for me. My 9 year old daughter also prefers the original as she says the songs were better

Bought this for my daughter. it kept her entertained but just like every other needless sequels or reboots it is forgettable. unlike the 1st Mary Poppins this movie does not have any memorable moments or iconic songs. It's a one and done movie.

My kids like it, so I’ll go 3 stars, but this movie was not good as far as I’m concerned. Fan / watched original as a kid - there was just too much jammed into this movie. Emily Blunt was onpoint with the books vs. recreating Julie Andrews.

I bought this without doing a lot of research about the movie, having liked the original. It was more like a Broadway show than modernized movie and may be great but we did not like it much and did not Finish the movie.

Nothing will ever surpass the original but this is a fun tribute for those familiar with its predecessor. Not likely to attract those who have not to the original. Worthy of your collection at the right price.

Great family friendly movie that will delight all ages. Several scenes pay homage to the 1964 Mary Poppins, with a special cameo by Dick van Dykkke. New songs and characters add to the Banks family journey.

Don’t get too excited...it’s a bit of a stretch in comparison to the OG...however, it’s definitely different. Stick with the OG....AKA... ORIGINAL MARY POPPINS WITH JULIE ANDREWS. Keep the memories.

The bluray is pretty darn great. I mean it's a Disney bluray so you will get some good quality and some good bonus features. As for the movie itself I like it but it's no where near the original.

So, should one pick this up? Well, the TECHNICAL aspects of the Blu ray are excellent. Sharp clear picture with eye-popping colors, especially when the animated segments take over and we leave drab London for a more magical perspective on life. The sound is amazing as well, the music and sound effects roll through the sound field with crisp fidelity. This felt like a "by the numbers" production and even though the specific story elements were not the same, the thematic purpose was. So if you've seen the original (and, c'mon, if you're seeing this you HAVE seen the original) than you'll know what happens before it happens. And yea, future prediction is kinda cool but is a double edged sword. You do risk reducing your enjoyment of this happy and nice picture - whose only goal is to entertain you - because you will know what happens BEFORE it happens. Every time. Because it feels like what would happen if 1960s Mary Poppins was made in the 2010s. Which is basically what happened. As a result, the emotional impact of the film has diluted highs and lows and THAT is a problem with all of these remakes. So is all lost? Is it a complete miss? Nope...and here's why. If you're a fan of the books or the movies, than this is more Mary Poppins done well and that can be better than being surprised. So bottom line? If you're a fan, than you'll love this movie.

Had very low expectations for this movie, thinking "how could you ever compare to THE Mary Poppins?!" I was pleasantly surprised as this was a very well-written, well-acted movie that had all of the right nods and references to the original and actually modernized it in a way that really worked. The actress playing Mary was fantastic and the dialogue and musical numbers were very well done.

It was a good sequel to the original. But, I found myself questioning if it was really necessary or just a money grab for Disney.. Bottom line: Buy the original/1st one.

Mary Poppins Returns is a very fun movie with great acting by Emily Blunt. The movies offers some good songs and a generic story so I’d wait for this to go down in price.
