I'm sorry you've had this experience, but that product is not compatible with Macs. It is 1 PC only. It states this on the front under the 1. If you need to only protect a single device and it's a Mac, I recommend McAfee Total Protection 1. Please let me know if I can help further.

I'm sorry the package was smooshed. I assume there must have been an issue during shipping. However, this package comes with an activation card that has a code on it. Once you type in the code the first time, you no longer need it, so could throw away the package. Take that code to https://www.mcafee.com/activate to redeem it and install that software. McAfee does offer a 30-day money-back guarantee so if you were charged and can show proof of purchase, we can refund you if you have issues getting a refund from Best Buy. If you contacted them and you are saying they asked to remote in to your system, that is a standard operating procedure for our support team to try and diagnose problems. It will show a green check mark if it is a valid code, or a red check mark if there is a problem. If it is valid, it will go on to ask you to setup an account with McAfee, which is required, but only needs an email address. It will also ask you to sign up for auto-renewal, which requires a credit card, but is optional. You can click on the X in the upper right corner to skip that step and proceed with installation. If you see a red checkmark or there is any other problem with the install, contact our support team at service.mcafee.com or 866-622-3911. They will try to help you and remote connecting to your system is a great way for them to help you as they can see what is going on. As long as you go the exact URL I mentioned above, there should be no issue with them connecting to your system. Our service is available 24/7 and is always FREE. With McAfee Antivirus, there aren't even any features that need to be separately installed, which does happen with some of our other packages. It is specifically designed to keep viruses off your system, but no software package can be 100% effective at stopping threats. It does ask if you want to sign up for Auto-renewal, but that step is optional and you can click on the X to skip it and continue the installation.
