Don't do it, buy Trend Micro

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't know how I was talked into getting this (it was by an IT person around my work) but when my trend micro expired, which I was happy with, I traded it out for this junk. It doesn't catch much and constantly causes performance issues. I feel as if my computer is worse off now, so much so I refused to download it on my other computers. One of the biggest annoyances is the fact it changes your search engine to Yahoo... constantly. It doesn't tell you this directly, it asks you if you want to protect your internet searches and you say yes. From then on, it will change your preferred search engine to Yahoo. I am purchasing Trend Micro again and just eating my 2 years (I bought the "hey get your second year 80% off if you pay now" ploy)

Posted .I'm sorry you have had this experience, but it is Microsoft who changes the browser because Yahoo pays them to do it. There is a checkbox you can uncheck to stop that from happening and I believe there is also a way to set Window to not allow that, but you would need to ask Microsoft more about that. As far as the performance issues, we have been repeatedly tested as having one of the lowest impacts to system performance so there may be other issues you are experiencing. Takes minutes to start up and glitches whenever i try to open my menu bar. It has messed up alot of functions on my computer. Never buying this again.

Won't load

I went through McAfee support and still can't get it to load. Since it is a digital download I can't get my money back either. These need to be sold with a disk.

You just need to contact our support with proof of purchase and they will refund it for you. It sounds like you did get in touch with our support and not a fraudulent site or I expect I would be hearing how they tried to get more money from you. I also assume you went through the proper steps to install, but just in case, here is what you need to do. Go to https://www.mcafee.com/activate to enter your code and setup your McAfee account. You will be asked to setup auto-renewal, but this is optional and can be skipped by clicking on the X. After that, it should start the download and install. Did do what i wanted, not sure if worth the money.

I download a free one from online and it found it and removed it easily.

The normal scan is a "quick" scan which only monitors the most commonly targeted areas of the system in order to not impact the performance. Couldn't download the software

If your computer seems slower you can update your McAfee settings to only run scans while you are not actively using your computer. Simply disable “Automatic Scans” and set scanning schedules for periods when you are not actively using the machine, this way you will not notice a drop in performance. I bought this Nov 2021 and have received no less than 10 spam emails telling me that my protection had expired and they were going to charge my cc automatically. McAfee does not practice what they preach. I'll never use them again.
