You already have the product installed, but keeps asking me to add features to their own product, for a charge of course. Very annoying, would spend the first 10 minutes after turning in my computer, trying to close all the notifications.

Posted .I'm sorry you've had this experience. However, I don't believe the pops-ups you are seeing are coming from our product. They are likely coming from a website hoping to sell you something - and it might not even be McAfee. There are a lot of fraudulent sites out there trying to scam people. Our product doesn't start messaging you until 45 days prior to expiration, letting you know that you are about to expire. We don't include a pop-up blocker, but this is a feature that most browsers have. You could try turning that on to see if that stops the ads. Beware of this McAfee product

Product requires other software (operating system)

This was not clear at time of purchase, nor was I informed about this by salesperson.

Posted .Which operating system are you referring to? If it's the iOS for iPhone, then yes you need to be on version 10 at least, but that was released in 2016 and 12 is the current version. If it's Windows you are referring to, we validate back to Windows 7, so you don't need Windows 10. Can you clarify what you are referring to? Posted .You are correct. We have removed support for parental controls from McAfee Total Protection 5. We have added Identity Theft Protection, which will protect your identity from being compromised and PC Boost, which improves your PC performance. Parental Controls is still available in McAfee Total Protection 10 as Safe Family with enhanced capabilities. Please let me know if I can help you with anything.

Spent 5 hr with PC installation and 2 hr after with laptop installation. was fighting things that should automatically be taken care of by installation program, but were not.

Bought it by mistake on Black Friday because of the price. I didn't realize that it wasn't my regular one until I installed it & it slowed down my PC.

Doesnt support chrome computerbhad to return the i

Posted .You are correct - we don't support Chrome computers. We validate on Windows, Mac OS, iOS and Android operating systems. Chrome uses it's own proprietary OS. Did you contact our support team for a refund? They can be reached at service.mcafee.com or 866-622-3911 in case that isn't who you contacted. If that isn't who you contacted, make sure to tell them you thought you had contacted our support as we do have a 30-day money back guarantee so if it's been more than 30 days, there may be an issue. They can be reached at service.mcafee.com or 866-622-3911 at any time. I am also here and can answer questions that you post. There are a lot of fraudulent sites out there claiming to be McAfee and aren't. If you just searched for it, the first few that come up are usually not actually McAfee, so you need to type the URL above directly into the address bar. If you are actually talking about Best Buy service, I cannot comment on that as I am a McAfee employee, but I'm still sorry you had a bad experience. I hope that we are able to make you happy and give you a better experience though if you try again.

A waste of money

Posted .I'm sorry you feel this way. Pop-ups are not something we stop from occurring as most browsers already have pop-up blockers in them. We warn you about going to risky websites and we stop viruses from infecting your system. You should enable the pop-up blocker in the browser you are using. Posted .Hi Derek, I'm sorry you had this experience. It sounds like you are trying to type in your code again. You don't need to do that. Once you've used the code to setup your account and download the first time, you can install onto additional devices from within the software or your account and the code is no longer needed. You have two options for installing to additional devices. First, you can sign into your McAfee account from the device you want to protect. Then on the home page, the section just below where it says My Account, it says "Protect all your devices" with a button that says "Download". You can click on that button and begin the download right away. The other option is you can sign into your account from the device you first installed the software on and within the software, the home screen has a tile that says "Protect More Devices". You can click on that and it will ask if you want to text or email. Choose the one you want and send yourself a link. Then from the device you want to protect, you can open the text or email and click on the link. The download should begin immediately. If you run into any issues with this, you can write back here or you can contact our support team directly via service.mcafee.com or 866-622-3911. They will be able to remotely connect to you and figure out what is wrong. Please let me know if I can hep with anything further.

not a gret product

Posted .Can you clarify what you are referring to when you say McAfee works against Windows 10? We actually work very closely with Microsoft to ensure we are aligned with them and we are fully validated on Windows 10. We do prefer to disable Windows Defender when installing so that there isn't a duplication of processing power needed, but we will operate with Windows Defender enabled as well. Windows Defender is nice to have available within Windows in case you don't have other protection, but they don't do as well at protecting you as security vendors do. This is a copy of the latest AV-Comparatives test where McAfee achieved a 100% detection rate with 0 false positives. what a waste of time

Posted .I'm sorry you feel this way. If you did a full scan, then yes, it can take quite some time as it checks for every possible area a threat could be hiding. Normally, we check for every file being introduced to a system as it is introduced, so scanning doesn't take a lot of time or resources. We also run periodic scans of the main sections of the system to ensure nothing slipped through the front-line defenses. Threats are a lot easier to block than they are to clean once they infect your device. If you scanned your system and found it was clean, then you should be pleased. You need to continue protecting yourself from further threat of infection, though as we find more than 6 new threats every second of every day. Plus with COVID and everyone staying home, hackers have become even more prevalent than they were before. I hope you consider keeping an antivirus package on your devices, even if it isn't McAfee. Posted .I'm sorry you had this experience. Sometimes people contact the wrong place for support - there are many fraudulent sites out there claiming to be us and trying to charge money. Let me make sure you at least contacted the right support team. First, to install, you take your code to https://www.mcafee.com/activate and enter the 25-digit code. You will be asked to setup an account with McAfee. You will also be asked to sign up for auto-renewal, although this step is optional and you can skip if you choose. The download and installation should begin at this point. If there are problems, our support team can be contacted at service.mcafee.com or 866-622-3911.
