Works. Kind of.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Burned a couple DVD's and when they play in my car DVD system, a loud hissing, screeching counts from my player that I don't get with other DVD's. Could be the DVD player, but doubt it...

Memorex DVD+rDL suck
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased 50pack of these discs and NOT a one of the first 25 I tried worked - I expect a couple or a few (2 or 3) discs to be bad but not a whole 50 pack - Never buy Memorex discs - I know I won't - Using Verbatim and having no problems....

Excellent Quality Discs!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used Memorex Discs for years and they are the only DVD media that I will trust my data to and the new DL offerings are no different. The discs are compatible with a wide range of players and burners; the burn process is fast (depending on the hardware) and I hardly ever create coasters with this brand. My experiences with Maxell, Sony and Verbatim have been much different: All three produce coaster after coaster after coaster and the ones that do burn to completion won't play on external recorders or develop read errors from dye failure within six months of writing the discs. My experience has been excellent and I give this product the highest rating possible. Remember, the quality of the hardware that you use is just as important as the quality of the discs you use. You use cheap hardware (recorders, players, it doesn't matter); you're not going to get the performance that these discs are capable of.

Great deal and 0 coasters
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these discs in the store. When i bought them i thought they were normal dvdr. When i got home i realized they were dvdrdl, Which i have never heard of. But i decided to give them a try. I used all 25 of them up in 3 days. All 25 of them burned correctly. I was able to fit 5 movies per disc. And when played on my dvd player the quality is excellent. Before buying this product make sure that your dvd drive is able to burn dual layer dvds. I was lucky enough to have one that does burn them when i accidentally bought these.

What???
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just had to comment because all these people had negative comments. I shop by reviews alot so I figured I would share. I read all of them mostly and also read reviews on the verba/whatever you call it. Still I decided to give memorex a shot becasue I have disk that are over 15 years old that still work. I got home and burned my first disc at 6x speed because I saw somewhere in the comments that speed might of lead to a disk failure and to much of my happiness it burnt without any problems. The problem with some of you people having bad burns could be that 1. You are multitaking while the disk is burning. 2. Your firmware is not upgraded on your dvd burner 3. You need to restart your computer. 4. Your burner is some older one that is not working wit these disks or you don't have a dual layer recorder all together And finally 5. You are burning at too high of a speed, I am going to try burning at 8x speed and let you know if I have any problems. For the restart one. I said that becasue sometimes a program in the background that you may have closed might be interupting your burning software program. I have had bad burns before on the 4.7 gb disks and then restarted and it burned fine after that.

Very good for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I see that lots of people are having issues with these discs. I have had maybe 3 failures out of 150 discs I've used. I was using these discs before the label change, and am still using them after the so called "update". Most of the failures I've had are user error or bad data. I am using a DVD burner that's less than a year old, and that may be why I see a little less failure rate than what other people are saying. I would recommend these discs to anyone with a newer burner. Even if you have a failure of one or two, you still come out ahead for the price.

KNOW WHAT YOU'RE BUYING
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It should be said first, THESE WILL NOT WORK UNLESS YOU HAVE A DOUBLE-LAYER DVD BURNER. All of these reviews citing the product as non-functional or defective are sadly founded on ignorance. It takes a special type of DVD-Burner to be able to burn this 8.5 GB disks, most DVD-Burners only burn DVD+/-R, RAM, and CDs, so your burner would have to say it supports DVD+/- R DL as well to burn these properly. Please don't let the bad reviews scare you if you're considering buying this product; those giving bad reviews just didn't know what they were buying. That being said, with my DVD-DL burner, they work perfectly. Only bought them at Best Buy because they were on sale though, as I would normally buy through an online retailer =).

Not bad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They're not bad. I picked up a spindle on sale from the store for $32. I've been using the dual layer discs for backing up loads of information. So far, I've used up probably 40 discs and had about 5% fail on me. Not the best ratio, but could be much worse.

Good buy and Great price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have burned 15 DVD's so far and I have not encountered any problems what so ever. I don't know what software people are using that creates problems, but these discs are not laden with issues. They are a decent brand with a good history for reliability. Compared to Verbatim, which have a thicker feel to them, these feel a little thinner. However, I use protective cases for all my DVD's so this is not much of an issue. I burn a lot of DVD's and decided to try a dual layer disc. Saw these on sale for $20 and had to try them. I am very happy with my purchace and I will go back and buy more before the sale runs out. DVD burner I use : Lite-on 20x Burning software I use: Nero 7 Ultra Edition DVD Players I have: Panasonic and Philips *Also plays in my XBOX 360

Nice DL Media
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use IMG Burn with three different burners: Mad Dog DL burner, Pioneer DL burner, and whatever DL burner is in my Gateway computer. All have had sucessful burns with this media. I only buy these when they are on sale = about $1 per disc. That is still expensive compared to about $0.23 per disc for single layer. But when you have a large project or movie that you don't want to break up over multiple discs this DL media is just right.

Great at slower speeds
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I burned through a 25 pack of these over the last week and did not have a single failure. I however burn everything at 2.4x, I am of the believing that the slower the burn the better the quality (in video). Even if I paid the extra for the Verbatim disks I would still burn them at 2.4x. So for me its a much better bargain to be able to buy 50 of these at the same cost as 30 of the verbatim.

I've Never Had a Problem with These
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. From reading the reviews here I've avoided Memorex like the plague and have always purchased the Verbatim Dual Layer disks. One day I went to Best Buy and the Memorex was all they had, so I figured I'd try them and if they caused errors I'd bring them back. Much to my delight, the Memorex disks have worked perfectly. I burned about 75 so far since that day without ANY problems. So I buy these now and save a little money over the Verbatim disks. All I can figure is either the Memorex quality control has gotten better, or the people who were complaining about them had equipment problems in their computers which they were blaming on these disks.
