Fun Blast from the Past
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this up because I still have CDs. Tons of CDs, And I still like listening to them because they generally still sound better than compressed MP3s. Also, I like to troll second-hand stores for cheap CDs and sometimes I want to listen to them before I have a chance to rip them. Enter the memorex portable CD player. Back in the day this thing would have been extremely expensive. Despite its low cost it feel well made and is not much bigger than a CD itself. It's light weight and takes batteries. Yess, you insert two batteries into this guy, No waiting for it to recharge. There's also a DC jack on the side but it takes a 4.5V coaxial plug. It would have been nice too put a 5V microUSB connection for power since everyone has tons of those adapters from their phones. Sound quality is good, and it has no problem driving my various wired headphones, including my power-hungry Sennheisers. impressive! Bluetooth pairing is a fun extra and brings this 90's technology into modern times. The complete lack of menus makes pairing a bit of a hassle, but once paired everything sounded fine on my Beoplay BT headphones. It comes with the usual anti-skip technology higher-end portable CD players used to have, and a dynamic bass boost for people who are into extra bass. The switches to turn on the bass boost and open the player are a little hard to see as they are black on black. Aside from that my only complaint is the lack of a digital-out jack. I would have loved to hook this up to one of my nice DACs and try it out that way, but admittedly that's a lot to ask for something inexpensive. If you still have a bog CD collection (I know there are still lots of us out there!) I would definitely recommend this for use with your nice BT headphones and speakers.

meets expectations and then some.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had countless portable cd players over the years. from my first (which I still have and works) with 3 second anti-skip to some with 20 seconds, and a few in between, I've seen my share. Panasonic, Sony, Emerson, Craig are some of the brands I've had. memorex is an old brand name that I know and generally trusted over the years, from blank cassettes to tv's and DVD players. Sure, the company has changed hands, but affordable and fairly reliable products are what they have done over the years. This is a good value, priced good, has all the features for programing track lists, skip, repeat play all random, it can do it. mp3 discs, yes. something my old ones can't do. The thing that tilted me to test this is blutooth. it connected to my stereo and several of my speakers very easily, and also did nicely in my car. granted my car has it's own CD player, but if it ever does, I can use this. The headphones took me a second to figure out how they go in my ears. Me being old, these secure fit barbed headphones were odd for me, but once situated comfortable and stable in my ear, and the sound is really good. dynamic bass boost does help. I played through many discs of metal, country and rock, all sounded good. Worth the price. met my expectations

Memorex Rocks
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This cd player is awesome. I am 56, and have had a few through the years. I can say that this player is excellent. It goes loud on volume, and has extra bass boost. I highly recommend it as a great cd player. I had to order it off the web. Best Buy needs to keep this cd player in stock in the store.
