Customers are saying

Customers admire the comfort and compatibility of these VR goggles, frequently praising the ease of lens adjustment and the lightweight design. Many appreciate the immersive VR experience and the affordable price point, although some users note challenges with achieving optimal focus and image clarity. The fit is generally considered secure and adjustable for various phone sizes and head shapes. While battery drain is a concern for some VR apps, the overall user experience is largely positive.

The quality of the goggles was great. Great hardware. However, I felt like the quality of VR images was not so great.

You need to to use it on your cube. But I wouldn’t recommend buying it even of it went on sale. Not worthy

As this is my first foray into the vr world, I didn't really know what to expect with the merge goggles. Would it be a fully immersive experience? Would it fit my large phone, let alone my giant head? First, my main phone is an LG V20. Sadly, this phone is too big to insert into the device. But luckily (!!!) I still have my LG G5 and that phone fits like a glove. Now it will be used as a dedicated device with the merge. Secondly, my biggest fear is that my giant head would preclude me from using the unit, a fear that grew exponentially when I saw "for ages ten and up" on the (stunning) product packaging. However, that fear was alleviated once I removed the goggles from the packaging. If it can fit my head (and it does) it can fit 99.9% of the population. The goggles themselves are very comfortable. The packaging boasts "marshmallow softness" and it truly is. I experienced no strain or pressure when using it. You can adjust the goggles focus, and it is even possible to wear your glasses with the device. As for the apps, there are quite a few that you simply just install from your device's app store. I first messed around with Googles street view, and it really impressed me. There are some other merge apps that I also utilized the cube accessory with (see cube review) and it was a seamless experience. As again, this being my first experience with vr, I am impressed. And the merge vr goggles have made the experience that much more impressive (and!) comfortable.

A Good Entry Point to VR

I'll preface this with: I was 99% sure in my experience with VR I'd be that luddite falling out of his chair or blowing chunks as a result of some rollercoaster app. Unboxing: kinda clunky, and I wish the CONTENT portion of setup had been more user-friendly, there was a lot of instructions for something that mostly relies on your phone to interface. The instructions were minimal at best and seem aimed at folks who've tried VR before in other settings or at least have some knowledge of where to go and what content to get. Merge needs a better on-boarding process than what they currently have. I had to take off my minimal tech21 iPhone case (I'm running an iPhone 7 Plus) to help it fit inside. The adjustable lenses were a huge plus, and the head straps were infinitely adjustable, but I couldn't figure out the triggers right away, so it ended up being a little frustrating at first. True to form, the first app I downloaded was the Cedar Point VR app, and of course, my wife chose that moment to pop in and say something to the effect of, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" I don't remember exactly what she said because I was too busy falling out of my chair. Classic. The whole rig is well-designed, comfortable, adjustable, and in and of itself was pretty easy to set up; figuring out what content and where to go was the next tricky part and because Merge has no curated content ready to go, you end up going to like... Discovery and doing their stuff, which means you also sometimes have to pull the phone back out. There's a ton of Shark Week stuff, and a ton of gimmicky content right now, but the library of titles will grow. I've always wondered why you'd want/need a specialized device when most phones have insane graphics chips, cameras, retina displays, and almost everything else you need to be immersed in VR. Merge solves that problem and it's glorious (just remember to take your vertigo medicine first and lock your office door so you can't be messed with). All in all: a solid purchase and good entry point into VR if you're OK with limiting your content to whatever is available on your phone's ecosystem.
