    Changed my Mind

I thought VR was rather silly. As it happens, I simply did not have the right headset! The comfort of the Merge's adjustable head strap and foam body far outclasses cardboard or hard plastic alternatives. The adjustable lenses are an exquisite feature allowing for a wide range of devices to be used. My device can be easily placed in and pushed out without any cumbersome velcro or straps. This headset has changed my views on the entire virtual reality concept, now that I have experienced truly comfortable and immersive VR.

I wanted to see the future of user interfaces, and I feel that I have done so. The goggles are relatively easy to use and work well with my Galaxy 7 Edge. The fit is a little bit tight, but I still need to be in a darkened room before things really look right. There's plenty of free or cheap apps available to download, but I can't give the goggles more than 4 stars until the apps get more detailed.

These are a great set of VR goggles. The foam material makes them great for younger children, and a great introduction into the world of VR. One important note: Make sure your phone is the proper size first. Even though some larger phones can be squeezed in do to the foam material, it will be impossible to get the focus right in order to enjoy your experience.

This was my first set of VR goggles. I have been wanting to get one but never bought them because I could never justify if they are worth it for me. But as soon as I saw these, I immediately grabbed them (considering their good reviews) and couldn't wait to open & use them. But all my excitement faded away after just 15 minutes of use. The goggles itself are very comfortable to wear and the phone (iPhone 7 in my case) fits very nicely but that's all about it. Using them was bit of a struggle for me and I can explain why. I'm a near sighted, so in order for these goggles to work, I had to adjust the focus on the lenses. The way you do it in these goggles is to move the 2 buttons on top from left to right and vice-versa. I had to move them closer to each other, meaning bringing both of them towards the center to set the focus & watch videos on Youtube. I still couldn't see it clearly. Not the goggles fault, just my eyesight is weak. The problem arose when I couldn't use the buttons while watching the videos on Youtube because when the buttons are at the center of the screen, no matter how much you press them, you won't be able to rewind or forward the videos on Youtube because to do that the buttons have to be on extreme left & right. You then tap once on left to back 10 sec, twice for 20 secs etc. and same for going forward. I wasn't able to do that. May be I'm missing the trick here but this was my experience. My second problem with this goggles was headache due to motion sickness. Again, this is my personal experience. I did read some reviews where people said they never had problems with motion sickness but experienced it while using these goggles. Mobile VR is pretty underwhelming and you'll probably put it down in a day or two. It will be interesting to use it with the cube but I hadn't had chance to do that. Price is okay but you will find way too cheaper VR goggles. I feel that this kinda stuff is basically for kids or the teenagers at the most. Adults like me will get bored of them quite easily unless you are too much into this "toy" stuff.

    Not what I expected

After using the VR from Samsung, this VR headset wasn't what I expected. It took me a while to get it setup. They provide a link to a website to get started. I visited the site from my smartphone, but I wasn't able to do much with it. It requires you to download Google Goggles, then scan a QR code to enable it. In order to scan the QR code from your phone, you will need to pull it up on another device or computer, or try to print the page to a printer form your smartphone. After finally getting it setup, the resolution was average. It did not have much detail or crispness at all. The apps were very difficult to maneuver. I was able to select an app and start it, but I was unable to find a way to go back to the main menu since there it no back button on the device. They have a video on their site showing that it's compatible with the Samsung Note phone. The phone in the video is a Note 5 or older model. It's a very tight fit for the Note 8.

My son and I each tried this. The headset uses you phone where it is inserted inside. You download some apps and can use it to play games. There is a cube you can get that has integrated games. Overall my son and I liked this but did not think it was anything stellar.

As the title says this is my first set of VR goggles. Pretty cool concept and paired with some earbuds it was actually pretty immersive. I use an Iphone 6 plus with this and I felt like the clarity was ok. Kind of like looking at an SD TV screen, not an HD experience. I assume if you used a higher res phone the experience would be better? I'm not 100% sure on that, I would suggest you do research before assuming. The only other issue that I had was my phone was very tough to get in and out of the headset. I know it is supposed to be snug, but it's almost too snug for a 6 plus. A smaller phone worked much better. It also caused my phone to get super hot while using the VR headset. I feel like this is a good step in the right direction for VR, but I think we've got a ways to go before it's where I expected it to be when trying this headset without any prior experience with VR.

I had really high hopes for these VR goggles because Samsung has set the bar so high IMO but these fell short. The goggles are really cumbersome. On the other hand, I like that the apps you download are fairly neat and suitable for a range of ages. The biggest drawback I found is the buttons on top that are supposed to help you navigate through the apps/VR experience...don't work. All in all, if you're looking for a fairly decent VR experience, get these goggles plus the Merge Cube. The goggles don't require the cube BUT they're better together. Oh and I didn't notice a huge strain on my cell phone battery (iPhone 6) but the phone did get warm during extended use.

From the moment I opened the package, I thought I was going to like it, however, that wasn't the case. First thing I have to point out is that it says it's for ages 10 and up. With that being said, I may be the wrong demographic for this VR headset. Out of the box, I can say that it has a slip on the top for your phone and a window in the front, which pops out, so you can use the merge cube. Aside from that, it looks ok, feels soft and is lightweight in the hand. Once you put your phone inside of it and put it on your face, that's where the pro's stop. It's hard to focus, lets in a ton of light, feels heavy on your face and it fogs up pretty bad. I probably wouldn't buy this for an adult that is into VR, however, I definitely would consider it as a gift for a 10 year old. (who most likely wouldnt mind all the things I complained about.)

Had trouble setting them up, mYbe it was me but I felt it took longer than it should have. Once setup with my phone the reality was pretty cool. I suggest starting slow and not going for a long period of time. Other than that the use with cube playing games it’s pretty cool!

Not Bad But Doubt They Will Last

Imagine taking a Nerf Football and strapping it to your face....that is what this feels like. After just a few times putting my G6 in the headset, it is showing a slight tear in the foam, kind of like a Nerf Football starts breaking down after a good rough game of football. If you wear glasses, these are not for you. The fit is very snug and it does not feel designed for people with eye wear. The straps are difficult to fine tune or just adjust in general. The unit I got has a flaw in one lens, I have yet to get a good clear viewing. My Cardboard seems to have better optics.

I love the idea of VR and now that I have these glasses I love VR. Youtube watching will never be the same. The comfort and focus is perfect for everyone in my family (3 of the 4 wear glasses and all can use without them). On a side note, it is just as fun watching someone use them as it is using them. Completely Satisfied!

The package of the product is artistic and the purple color is bright and enticing. It looks big but when I put it on, it is not heavy but very comfortable. The straps are long enough that I can wear my eye-glasses. After I put it on, I feel immersed in the virtual world and have an unexperienced viewing experience. Its price is fair for its quality.

So cool that I can wear with glasses with no worries or compromise. Fits my iPhone 6 plus well. Extremely comfortable material and easy fit. And it can be used without the head strap since you can lift it up and just hold it to your face while still being able to use the trigger controls. Quite decent selection of free apps.

I feel this is definitely more for a child or even teen. As someone in my early 20s I wasn’t amused and it felt kiddie honestly. My iPhone 7plus barely fit inside of it, the picture quality with the lens just makes you dizzy, it’s heavy and bulky. Only pro is it’s reallt soft and feels good against your face.

Depending on your phone, you can do VR with VR apps as well as simply watching movies. I love to kick back in my massage chair and put the goggle on and watch a movie. The lens is clear and it's adjustable. Very nice to just lay down and relax or play games with a wireless controller. ;)
