I've never used any other word processing software, so I've got nothing to compare it to. I love Excel, for everything from actual spreadsheets using math and all that, to lists and inventories. I'm furious that the folks at Microsoft make us pay an annual fee - really furious. I probably should bring this to a halt before my fury erupts into language not suitable for this venue. So, to wrap it up, love the software, hate the maker.

With this feedback, Microsoft came out with Office 365 (subscription based only) versions and Office 2016 versions sold at a one-time retail price and you own it forever. Easiest way to get genuine Office

Within a few minutes, my family all had Office and some cloud storage up and running. Using it on multiple PCs (and being able to move licenses around) makes the recurring charges easier to swallow, though I wish there were more current persistently-licensed versions of Office.
