I upgraded to a subscription based copy to upgrade to the latest version. It still is a solid program and I think the subscription pricing is fair, considering how much I use the program on a daily basis. No complaints.

Love the added features. What a difference from the Office 2007. Definitely a must have for any new PC or OS running Windows. Personally I would of preferred the Office 2016 instead of the 365. Like I said, I was able to use Office 2007 for 10+ years just fine. So it is worth the $140 to own the Office product rather than renting it for a year! In all those years I only used Word, Excel, and PowerPoint anyways. If you use more of the Office features and want to stay up to date with the updates, 365 would be the way to go.

With this feedback, Microsoft came out with Office 365 (subscription based only) versions and Office 2016 versions sold at a one-time retail price and you own it forever. I have to say that I'm not happy that I have to pay early I think it should be maybe every 2-5 years for renewing, as I don't need a change early. I would also like to have the military discount back.

Although this product works well I don't appreciate having to be locked into purchasing it over and over again. The software locks you out once your contract time is over.
