For someone who has limited computer knowledge, this feature is difficult to understand all that goes on with this added cost.

It really depends on how much you utilize all of the various features. I use some of the unique features of excel and graphing tools, and PPT, so now it really makes sense to me to purchase a subscription where you get all of the updates. If you only use basic Word, Excel, it might not be the cost-effective way to go.
