When I down loaded it on my Surface it did not give a definitive message that it was truly loaded on my unit. I am also not sure what is so different about this version than my previous Office version other than I have to pay a subscription fee every year- which means it will ultimately cost me far in excess of what I have paid in the past. But- the fact is that I need this for work & Google Docs is just not robust enough for me to do the work I need to do.

They send you an email with the link to download the software and also the product key to register for whatever amount of time and amount of devices you purchased. (example I purchased personal 365 for 1 device for 1 year) I haven't used it too much yet but when I have needed a pdf or word document pulled up or downloaded I choose office and it works great!
