Not certain about the subscription model, however, in exchange for always having the most up to date version, I'm giving it a try.

Great laptop

Try and find a laptop under $600 with a i5 processor. this is not a top of the line laptop by any means but it is a good solid performer for the person who wants a laptop, reasonablily affordable and just doing basics like connect to internet, pay bills, email...etc

I did make the mistake of buying Microsoft 365 which was a monthly fee with my previous laptop. It seemed to be more than I needed with the constant updates. I bought a single license. I am happier with a single license.
