While I prefer the buy and own, the new method of buying a annual subscription keeps you up to date and a TB of storage space online.

I save my files to Dropbox or google drive and I am mobile. The programs have tips for using with a tablet that are helpful and not annoying. I have yet to encounter a function that is not available compared to the desktop version.

I really enjoy the fact its a subcription, not cheap, but ifyou actively use it, it pays for itself.

With this feedback, Microsoft came out with Office 365 (subscription based only) versions and Office 2016 versions sold at a one-time retail price and you own it forever.
