Ultimately, I chose the subscription due to the price and changing technology and to potentially add more users in the future. Google offers a free version of all of this so if you aren't married to Microsoft, I would go with Google.

With this feedback, Microsoft came out with Office 365 (subscription based only) versions and Office 2016 versions sold at a one-time retail price and you own it forever.
