Unfortunately, the one-year subscription allows Microsoft to continue getting money from you every year if you want to continue using their product. I highly recommend the product, but I don't like the one-year subscription.

However, it's a much needed item for day to day uses. The setup was fairly easy and the download wasn't too long.
